And due to the story of seeing Shannon in a Mexican restaurant in Louisiana while having lethal margaritas and embarrassing myself, I'm a fan of his and have NEVER seen him in a comedic role, so White Lie is going to be interesting.
I am so old I seen tank when it first came out. It is as awesome as it looks when James garner is pointing the tank at the deputy. This movie can never ever be remade any better
I enjoyed the review of Sing Street, but please note the movie is not a UK production. It's set in Dublin, the capital of Ireland in 1985 and was written directed by an Irishman, John Carney.
I once heard an interview with Mr. Gunnar Sønsteby, the spy from the Norwegian movie Nr. 24. They asked him why so many from the resistance(spies), often got so many psychological problems after the war, many ended up as alchoholics, committed suicide, or ended up in psychiatric institutions, while he seemed so grounded and fine, without those problems. He answered: "I think that many lived in the hope that they would survive the war, and hoped not to be captured or tortured and so on. That made them so tense during the five years, that after the war, they never came down from that tension. I had no such hope. I had this state of mind that I was already dead, that I would not survive this." Mr Gunnar Sønsteby died in 2012, 94 years old.
Might be worth pointing out Uprising was written and produced by Park Chan-Wook, arguably one of the greatest Korean directors of the last 2 decades with Oldboy (2003), The Handmaiden (2016), Decision to Leave (2022) under his belt, among several other greats.
Great list again, Darren! Kneecap is absolutely awesome! I just recently rewatched A Prophet. So good! I've seen a few others off previous recommendations from you. I added Tank which oddly enough I missed in my long career of movie watching. Thanks, Darren!
Under Suspicion is an american remake of "Garde à Vue", 1981 French psychological crime drama directed by Claude Miller and starring Romy Schneider, Michel Serrault, Lino Ventura and Guy Marchand. It is based on the 1979 British novel Brainwash, by John Wainwright.
Just watched Kneecap. What a great movie. Not for everyone; lots of drugs and language, but if this movie is right for you, it is really right. The Irish hip-hop is insane.
I remember watching the movie “Snatch” about 3 times in a row when it first came out so I could read the subtitles and understand all of it’s conversations and jokes, and it’s one of my absolute favorites! This movie “Kneecap” looks awesome enough to do the same!😎 Thanks for a great recommendation
@charliegriffith5466 northern Ireland is part of the UK, the movie is made and set in the republic of Ireland, which is not part of the UK. So he is wrong. An honest mistake of course and my comment was made in jest. So be quiet and educate yourself.
i watched Kneecap on a flight back from England recently. And i watched on on the screen of the seat in front of me. And even just that and reading the subs it was awesome. Quality lads movie
Darren, kudos brother. Your style of reviewing movies is PERFECTION. From one movie lover to another, I SO much appreciate your approach. All about celebrating ALL kinds of movies and you never get self righteous. I love the way that you celebrate the strange, the outrageuos, and even the outright flaws in some movies as reasons to watch, instead of reasons not to watch. You are possibly the best movie reviewer EVER. I mean that. (By the way, I was concieved in Mississippi, my mom is from Mississippi, and I lived many years there. It is a magical place.) STAY YOU, BROTHER.
Hi. Big fan of your channel. Sometimes I get so focused on the content, listening until the end that I forget to leave a like - watching on a smart TV. Maybe mention it or drag the outro out a little to give us time? Thanks
Great to see 'A Prophet' top your list....its a superb film...saw it when it was released in 2009 and again recently..... packs one hell of a punch....
Tank is a forgotten classic. I haven't seen it since I was a kid but for a while it had me obsessed with tanks. I still to this day want an M1 Abrams. 😂😂😂
DVD, I'd just seen an offer to watch Kneecap, and I'll admit, I was meh. Then there's your review. Your description of the the "very" Irish dialogue that even subtitles can't handle.... Interested now. Thanks as always!
FYI: Moe Berg also travelled with a Major League tour of Japan in 1937 that included Babe Ruth. Pictures he tookof Tokyowere used to determine targets for the Doolittle Raid. Moe was also a frequent dinner Guest of President Roosevelt!
I'm in on any film that Darren says "Nipples Out", so gonna watch Tank. lol. Okay just watched Tank. Notable lines. Shirley Jones saying "GI wanna good piece of ass" to her husband James Garner about 12 minutes 16 seconds into the show. Also, the Sheriff and the General conversation, Sheriff says "did you just call me a *ussy Communist", when the General said Posse Comitatus about 1 hour 13 minutes into the show. bwahahaha
I might just watch Tank just because James Garner looks a bit like he did in Rockford Files & I used to watch that show w/ my dad when I was really young! Definitely gonna watch Under Suspicion, maybe Shiva Baby & probably Sing Street (mainly for that killer lookin’ soundtrack!) I came of age in the 80’s & I love a lot of the bands mentioned in the trailer. 🎶💜👩🎤🎹🎼☎️🥁
Darren, I've been looking for a martial arts style movie that I saw years ago but can't find it. The only thing I remember about it is that a fight scene in a courtyard had a pagoda with cut bamboo sections lining the ground around it. It was raining and drops of rain dripping off sections of the roof hit these bamboo tubes, which were cut at different heights, therefore made different notes as the rain fell into the tube's. Was I dreaming? I've looked for it for years. 😢 Can you help please, with your extensive knowledge of film... TIA!❤
First review I have ever seen of the movie Tank. I recall when it was released, and as much as I like tanks, it just looked silly. But after this review, I might watch it.
I think I've seen Under Suspicion. When you started talking about a funny movie. A coming of age party movie I thought 🤔 you were going to say Project X. Hilarious movie.
@flickconnection Have you noticed you made a little editing mistake in the sponsor bit? I think you weren't happy with the first take of those two lines and did it again, but you left it in. 😅 I just noticed it as I'm a RUclipsr too. Love your content, mate!
Good call I enjoyed Shiva Baby, gave enough to understand what was going on, wish the ending gave us a conclusion but if they wanted a part 2 they could in way
I still want to see you do a review on “CAVEMAN” with Ringo Star and Shelley Long. I don’t know where to find it but it is definitely in my favorite movies ever! I laughed so hard during the yeti seen I choked. Bestest movie for everyone ever…….maybe not small children. lol
Someone tell me why, they very first netflix original movie, "pretty sure" when they launched streaming, isn't on Netflix anymore? Nobody talks about it either. A Prophet sounds interesting, having never seen it. But the movie Felon, i consider one of the best prison/f'd life, small/indie movies.

My favorite episode you do, the hidden awesome.
And due to the story of seeing Shannon in a Mexican restaurant in Louisiana while having lethal margaritas and embarrassing myself, I'm a fan of his and have NEVER seen him in a comedic role, so White Lie is going to be interesting.
Fantastic list!
Ad Vitam was a good French movie. I don't always like European movies but it had some terrific action action and interesting storey.
Eh Sing Street is set in Dublin, Ireland in the 1980s yeh big eejit yeh!
I am so old I seen tank when it first came out. It is as awesome as it looks when James garner is pointing the tank at the deputy. This movie can never ever be remade any better
I did too, as an adult. OLD cry me a river youngster ;-)
Remember seeing it on cable sometime in the mid-late 80's. I'll have to see if it holds up to my memories of it!
It was good because it had a lot of inside-baseball stuff for Army vets. Also, Jennilee Harrison with no bra.
I'm old as well and remember it being one of those movies they showed on tv all the time, I feel like I've seen it at least a dozen times

"1984, my birth year...". Ouch, dude. That was a low blow! 😊
Yeah! Hard to believe it was 20 years ago!!!, !,!”
Great list again, Darren! Kneecap is absolutely awesome! I just recently rewatched A Prophet. So good! I've seen a few others off previous recommendations from you. I added Tank which oddly enough I missed in my long career of movie watching. Thanks, Darren!
You are 100% correct about Tank. I was 11 when it came out, and it seemed like a 70's movie that you would see late at night on a UHF channel.

I haven't seen most of these, thanks for the recommendations, man!
“Under Suspicion” is a real gem. If you haven’t seen it you will really enjoy it, even with the “uncomfortable” subject matter.
Do it DVD!! 🤣🤣🤣 I loved Kneecap!!
i watched Kneecap on a flight back from England recently. And i watched on on the screen of the seat in front of me. And even just that and reading the subs it was awesome. Quality lads movie

Sing street is set in Ireland not UK
Kneecap is a great movie!
I recently watched #24 and it was pretty good, I enjoyed it. Glad you mentioned Under Suspicion, great movie, haven't watched it in years
Great to see 'A Prophet' top your list....its a superb film...saw it when it was released in 2009 and again recently..... packs one hell of a punch....
The girl in the tank (har har) top is Jennilee Harrision. If you're of a certain age, you have fond memories of her in this movie.
Nice list. I watched Under Suspicion last night, so good. The Prophet also has a killer soundtrack! Cheers
Thanks for the recommendations!
I am I the only one who see his hair and gets “Something about Mary” vibes? 😂
Thank you for yet another great list of flix!
Tank is a forgotten classic. I haven't seen it since I was a kid but for a while it had me obsessed with tanks. I still to this day want an M1 Abrams. 😂😂😂
I saw Compliance years ago when it was first released. I think it was Dreama Walker who made that movie.
Some really good picks on this list. Seen about half of them so far.
Tank is a great 80s flick imo. Glad to see it streaming. Thanks!

I read a biography about the guy The Catcher Was a Spy is about, his time as a spy was fascinating to read about.
I remember watching Tank as a kid when it came out. Fun movie.
Darren, I first read the tag line as “TERRIBLE” movies on Netflix. Lol 😂. I have a touch of dyslexia.
Thanks for MANY good new movies to watch!!!!!! ❤
A great FLICK CONNECTION Darren. Many thanks for sharing with us, much appreciated 🫶🫶🫶

Is it Hero from 2002? (watch?v=-N3BdBhWdmU, especially at around eight minutes, twelve seconds)
Definitely sounds like Hero
My favorite line from 'Tank': "Did you just call me a pussy communist?" You'll have to watch the movie to get the context😆
DVD with another BANGER LIST!!!
Thank you very much...
I wrote down your list and am going to add those I don't have to my Netflix list. Cool 😎👍 We need Blood in Blood Out in 4k.
First review I have ever seen of the movie Tank. I recall when it was released, and as much as I like tanks, it just looked silly. But after this review, I might watch it.
5:58 keep in mind north Georgia in the early 80’s was as backwards as it gets… it’s not as unbelievable as it seems

C'mon your old enough. No mention of C.Thomas Howell in Tank! He's still great. Haggerty in Obliterated was pretty funny in the stuff I saw.
‘A Prophet’ is a fantastic film, not one you’ll easily forget
good recommendations👍
I remember watching Tank as a kid. Have not watched it since. For sure adding to my queue
Tank had scenes filmed outside Atlanta. Local crowds ☺️
How is Dublin in England now?
The true story behind compliance is WILD.
THANKS Mr. DVD!!!
I’ve been holding off Shiva Baby cus it looked too chick flicky but the curb parallels sold me so I’m finally watching that one tonight!
Agree 💯 on A Prophet. Excellent!
You owe Singh street a full review as this is based in Ireland, we are not part of the UK!
A Little White Lie is great, thanks for suggesting it
😢 I'm sick of Netflix. I can't get those movies in the Philippines even though I'm an Aussie😮
i also saw prophet years ago and i agree with you 100% shot caller was also very good.
I remember seeing Tank in the theaters....yes, I'm old, lol
My grandpop loved TANK. i have seen this movie so many times 1984-87.
love what you do, keep it up
wrt The Catcher Was A Spy, it was great to see Paul Rudd in a mostly serious role.
I still want to see you do a review on “CAVEMAN” with Ringo Star and Shelley Long. I don’t know where to find it but it is definitely in my favorite movies ever! I laughed so hard during the yeti seen I choked. Bestest movie for everyone ever…….maybe not small children. lol
Squashing the huge dragonfly....
@ yes!!! And the Dinosaur poo. OMG it was great!! I “alunda” that movie!!!
Ringo Starr and Dennis Quaid. Saw that in the dollar theater as a small kid.
@@GregMoress The blind guy accidentally pleasuring a T-Rex before whacking it with his cane...
Sing Street set in Dublin Ireland lol
Thanks pal
Enjoyed Compliance. It was different but interesting.
💚💙💚 I love a list of good smaller movies that never got any hype.
OMG I would have never recalled TANK on my own, but I remember watching that waaaaay back in the day.
Kneecap is awesome though
Love Tank, saw it in theaters
Hey DVD, have you watched Outlaws in Netflix? It’s from Spain, I saw it this week and loved it. Let me know if you do or have.
My wife has been watching Korean content for forever. She puts English subtitles if available for me.
GD Spradlin was outstanding in Godfather Part 2.
I missed you hope you are well 👍
Little White Lie ~ Being There?
Does the way everyone reacts to Shannon’s musings remind you of Being There?
Someone tell me why, they very first netflix original movie, "pretty sure" when they launched streaming, isn't on Netflix anymore? Nobody talks about it either. A Prophet sounds interesting, having never seen it. But the movie Felon, i consider one of the best prison/f'd life, small/indie movies.
Subservience was good. Definitely a fun watch to me.
Compliance was great! UNDER SUSPICION is amazing!
Loved Sing Street
