- In this video, I interviewed a CompTIA employee about why their CompTIA certs are the best. I asked him questions about the certification process, what makes a good CompTIA certification, and what sets their certification apart from others.
If you're looking to pursue a technical certification, then you should definitely check out the CompTIA certification program. The CompTIA certification is internationally recognized and is guaranteed to help you advance your career.

I like how the A+ certificate is in the top center in the background. Lol
The Security+ helped me get a job with a DoD contractor. I really appreciate that!
Lol I really need to change that cert out for some of my others....lol
Finally. I'm a DoD contractor as well. I was thinking about making the switch. Talked to my site manager and ISSO about getting my certs. The ISSO and System Admin both told me in the same meeting, "Get your Sec+ and we'll have you shadowing the next day. Hell, we have programs that will either pay or reimburse you for the testing." So for someone to say the CompTIA certs are a joke is crazy to me. So it more than doubling my income is a joke than I will gladly laugh my way to the bank. 😅
Working toward my certification right now. 🎉🎉
Which Certification?
Started to look into Cybersecurity recently after a little while and came across this channel, total game changer. And this interview is amazing, so keep it up it's so insightful and helpful in all aspects
Thank you ... These comment's fill me will joy and keep me going.
I really appreciate the content that you are making
So, James Stanger is the one behind those awesome and recent CompTIA courses (the videos' components) on Coursera. Nice interview, by the way.
Keep up the good work @The Bearded I.T. Dad.
Thank you... I worked with him too on the A+
Studying for network+ right now
Be well prepared, I felt Net+ was the hardest exam when it came to multiple choice questions.
What are you using to study
This is a fine interview but it chills my blood the way he suggests people in cybersecurity ought to know about the SYN handshake, as if foundational TCP/IP concepts weren't essential.
is it also so well known in europe ?
Denmark here. I’ve seen security+ a handful of times in job postings. Mostly state level jobs.
yes world wide
@@TheBeardedITDad thks, just havent seen any of them listed, so was juste asking
No worries they are well known around the world.
Ask him why did they go against right to repair 😊
*This is my opinion and NOT CompTIA's:*
While they did initially oppose Right to Repair legislation. CompTIA changed its stance in early 2020. On February 3, 2020, CompTIA permanently stepped back from all lobbying activity related to Right to Repair legislation. This decision was consistent with CompTIA's commitment to advancing career opportunities for current and prospective IT professionals. The organization recognized the importance of aligning its actions with the needs and values of the IT community it represents, especially given that a large portion of the technicians it certifies would benefit from such legislation.
2:00 Wait, YOU have said that certifications only mean you can pass a test. Now you have a guy on contradicting you and you gave zero push back
CompTIA is a joke for two reasons:
#1. Very few people preparing for the exam have access to all the required software and hardware. The current exams cover a wide range of operating systems (Windows, macOS, Linux, Chrome OS, Android, iOS) and hardware (PCs, laptops, mobile devices, networking equipment). This makes it nearly impossible for candidates to gain the hands-on experience needed to understand the material fully.
#2. It is possible to pass the exam without having direct access to all this software and hardware.
Lol is this a joke, comptia certs are probably closer to the worst IT certs out there. Especially when it comes to practicality.
You have to Know that all certifications aren't practical-based. Some of them aim to provide solid knowledge to better perform practical tasks. In that way, CompTIA is one of the best.
I think the only ones worth getting are A+ and Sec+ that's it. But if someone wants to go for a more superior route then CCNA - CCNP SCOR or CCNA - CyberOps Associate, you are more likely of getting a job after earning your CCNA anyways.
Well everyone has our own opinion, but myself and every other hiring manager I've ever talked to likes them
This is such a subjective area though. CompTIA certs don’t profess to provide practical experience, but they do provide a strong foundational knowledge for the most part. In terms of providing a vendor-neutral, foundational knowledge of key IT concepts, CompTIA are right up there. That’s one of the reason they are still so popular with hiring managers.
Everybody in HR know CompTIA.
Certs are key. But Comptia are by and large the most useless and waste of time and money. Spending your time and money on "general knowledge" certs is pointless.
Who can teach you and certify you on networking better? Cisco or Comptia?
Who can prepare you best for a career in cloud? Microsoft and Amazon or Comptia?
Who is going to get the job first? Someone with a CCNA or the Net+
Im sorry but he said a whole bunch of bullshit when saying employers dont know who or what these certs are. If a company has X product in the environment they know exactly what cert is what. After 27 years in this field I can absolutely confirm if not for the US government Comptia would not even be in business. And this isnt a justification for comptia certs. This is the same government that spends 500 on a hammer. This is a political thing. Not a technical justification for the cert.
But the think is Companies and government agency require CompTIA .. many wont give you the time of day unless you have certain certs... There certs and not meant to teach you everything but give you a good foundation to build upon.
@@TheBeardedITDad Companies are weird. They throw anything on these JD's. When in all honesty they dont care what credentials we have. If we get into that interview and prove when have the skills to come in and do the job that is all they care about. And we both know they will take the person with that CCNA over network+ any day. So if it takes the same amount of time to study and costs more why would someone ever get a Net+.
The government space is what it is. Worked there for 10 years. Their contracts a lot of times are written off political decisions. It is comical that the same people who allow CD burners and such on top secret computers in secure facilities want you to have a security certification to sweep floors dam near.
@damonaniton you will never get your foot into the door for an interview if the ATS throws our your application for not having the requested certifications.
@@TheBeardedITDad yes. But the same company that has that Net+ as a requirement also has the CCNA on there. The only place that is anally specific are those government contracts.
