    To vague on how you decided villa would contract,yes we all know they had a big win week before and yes there is some relevant info on info goal but a lot of games with this criteria wouldn’t really move or drift.

      @benjyyy 4 года назад +6

      Yeah I don't really get where the edge is here or at least it isn't explained. Why did you believe the market wasn't priced correctly 2 hours before KO? From what I can see it's just as likely that the price moves in the opposite direction. You mentioned Villa's recent results as why they would be favourites but that would already be priced in and not an indicator that prices will continue to contract

    • @ctb1977
      @ctb1977 4 года назад

      @@benjyyy that was my first thought too. I'm wondering if the average punter places their bets one or two hours before the game. Essentially the market doesn't fully form it's opinion until right up to the kick off

    • @James-lq1po

      That’s part of the skill of trading, and it isn’t a risk free activity, sometimes it will go against you and you need to be prepared to take the loss and move on. If you don’t want any risk then best avoided.

    • @davyprendergast82
      @davyprendergast82 3 года назад

      @@benjyyy As I understand it (and I might be wrong), there is the mathematical probability of an event happening, and corresponding odds that could be worked out accurately. But that is not the only thing that determines actual odds on the exchange, there is also big daft Joe Public's opinion, much of it possibly beer fuelled before the game starts. How much weighting this has on the available odds I don't know, but it must evidently skew the odds and provide value opportunities somewhere, otherwise, aside from just after team news and unless an injury to a key player happens in the warm up, odds would remain the same. So I guess what I am saying is if there is no team news or injuries or anything that changes the mathematical likelihood of certain outcomes for an hour before the match, yet the price does move, then it must be incorrect at one stage or another. Trying to guess what the largest portion of Joe Public thinks does seem like the best way to guess which direction it is going to go in

    Really good example to any newbie (or indeed an intermediate trader) of how to play the market. Great reference to what the use of £500 actually means. Good to see a lovely profit before a ball is licked (especially when you consider the end result!)

    • @CaanBerryProTrader
      @CaanBerryProTrader  4 года назад

      Yes, I think sometimes people think those kind of stakes pre-game mean far bigger numbers. Never at any point was that at risk though unless it was left to run full time. In-play trading is a different ballgame of course. This is a lower risk more reliable way to approach the markets. Glad you found it of use.

    Hi Caan thanks for all your videos, can I ask is it possible to do these pre match price movement trades on football, horse racing etc without any software? I get you can see the current movements as they happen but can I do it without the software? I saw a good chance on Man City really today, they were around 1.75 a few hours before kick off which seemed over priced to me, and it came in to about 1.65 at kick off. I didn't get involved on the price movement but did back city at the 80th minute at odds of 3.6 to then cash out 4 minutes later 1-0 up! kaboom !

  • @johnsutcliffe888
    @johnsutcliffe888 4 года назад +4

    As a Leeds fan I was watching the odds on this one. Definitely there was some early movement probably down to the recency bias of the Liverpool result and Leeds lost their previous match vs Wolves imo. Think the price went even more because Kalvin Phillips was ruled out and people only found out when the team sheet was released and Liam Cooper the captain was ruled out late too. This is a strategy I am really interested in, thanks for posting. I'm using Sofa Score App and following football team twitter accounts for team sheet news. It can be tough keeping up with everything to try find your angle though.

    I want to join the Betting Exchange for Arbitrage Betting. I wish to lay on the exchange and back on my local bookmaker. But there is something I need to be sure of before I start though. If I lay on the exchange and my bet gets matched ( by one person or more people), is it possible that the other person just cancels the bet or just cashes out mid-game? Coz if a person does that, then I'm exposed on the bookmaker.
    Also, if after my lay bet gets matched and odds rise in-game all through to the end, will it add to my liability?

    Hey Caan, appreciate your content. One question about this strategy. I got in a very early backing two days ahead of a game and the odds are moving in my favour. Now when I want to lay this bet, it only shows a potential profit on the team I backed. The other team and the draw show a potential profit of zero. So basically the potential profit isn't showing on all three options. I can press the cash-out and still make a profit, but it would be bigger if I could lay the bet. Any idea as to why this happens? I'm pretty new to this :)

    • @CaanBerryProTrader

      Media influence and the crowds impression can be a very important thing yes. In some instances you find masses of people will bet a certain outcome regardless of the current price. Tipping is a funny one though, depends on the source. If we're talking one of the top football pundits going on a rant 30 mins before the match on prime TV, it could made an impact. Is that how you meant? Weight of 'matched' money is always important.
