Not just anyone can sing this tune, I've heard good singers shy away from it if they hadn't prepared for it in advance. Having two singers with complete and different masteries in the same band [Alba & Rita] testifies to Joan Chamorro's creds as a leader. We have come to expect nothing less and are never disappointed.
Rita has always given her all in every performance that I've seen. With her matured voice and her unselfconscious ability to let herself go while maintaining the discipline of the tune and lyrics, this is a track to treasure. And with bonus trumpets, too!
Collonut !
Rita is so unique. I can always stop my day to hear a a performance from Rita! And Joan Mar killed it! (In American jazz slang, ''killed it'' means exceptional, brilliant, fantastic, etc.)
Beautiful orchestra, beautiful woman, beautiful voice and beautiful trombone and with drums. What more could you ask for? If Beethoven were alive, he would be happy.
That’s it! I’m moving to Spain if they will let me in! I am marveled at the musicianship here, especially of such young players! This is a real reckoning for me musically. Love it, don’t stop!
Rita's vocals are perfection to my ears. This is a performance I can't help re- watching time and again, and each time I appreciate the beauty of it anew, and wonder at the sheer talent of everyone involved.
I té raó.
Very funny: "I am in love with a lover who likes me the way I am.." she sings and shows with a gesture her pregnancy. I wish her and her husbond and their coming child a bright future.
I remember a few years ago when you were singing some of those songs, your English was not as good, but you are absolutely commanding that now you were doing a fabulous job keep it up and I will continue to watch you grow! Jay Osborne
Tough choice here between Rita and Alba. I might lean toward Alba, but the best part is that we don't have to make a choice. We can have our Alba and Rita too! 😄 This one has a really nice solo from Joan Mar Sauqué, but I the other one had killer solos from Scott Hamilton and Joan Martí. Both Rita and Alba apparently started singing this with the band about the same time, 2018. Here's a link to an earlier Rita performance of the same song. This is the famous outdoor concert where the dogs join in for the last few notes, check it out: ruclips.net/video/yaho_4Isx6I/видео.html And if you somehow missed Alba's classic version, here's the link: ruclips.net/video/UPNrOeZ3SsU/видео.html It's all good!!
Thanks for the links! Rita's is from June 2018, Alba's from November. My impression is that Rita left the band in that summer and Alba "took this song over"(?) I also like Alba's version better. Listening today, it occurs to me that Rita may not yet have perfected it then(?)
@@paulsj9245 Interesting take on it, Paul. I can just see Joan now, "let's see, we've got this great arrangement and now nobody to sing it? Alba, come here, quick!" 😁
I completely agree with Gary Berman's comments on Rita's 2018 version of this song. "I just found this video, and I love Rita like crazy, but I have to favor Alba Armengou's rendition of this tune. I was so pleasantly surprised to see her belt it out, after making her mark as a great bossa nova singer. Don't get me wrong - Rita is fabulous singing bossa nova, but I don't know if her style fit this particular number well--even though she was obviously having a great time."
My bad. You read my rhetorical question/blanket compliment as poll question. I would never pit one of my favorite vocalists against another; it's not the SAJB mutual support way. I'll try to be less flippant and more precise next time.
Rita Payés! always welcome! I like very much when an older talent (Rita) plays with the new ones. This is the Chamorro magic.
This jazz out of Spain is blowing my mind! I had no idea! Don’t stop amigos, I love it!
Rita is so unique. I can always stop my day to hear a a performance from Rita! And Joan Mar killed it!
Rita is such a ❤ talent 🎼🎷🎺🎹🎸🥁🎤
Rita just gets better and more beautiful every day, what an incredible singer/player she is!
Not just anyone can sing this tune, I've heard good singers shy away from it if they hadn't prepared for it in advance. Having two singers with complete and different masteries in the same band [Alba & Rita] testifies to Joan Chamorro's creds as a leader.

Rita is so talented! And the trumpets are amazing! Wow!
I love seeing the older and younger trumpeter play solos next to eachother and listen to eachother. Both solos were amazing

I love that Frederic sat in the trumpet section and played the whole song instead of just his solo.
Excelente 👏👏👏👏👏
❤️ Rita ❤️

Yeah, this is where Rita belongs. So great to see that talent back in Sant Andreu.
Gotta give much praise to the pianist comping chords for all the soloists!
Fabuloso!!! Tremenda orquesta. Todos sois impresionantes músicos ❤

One problem: This is nota bossa. Kern and hammerstein didi not write bossa!
Man. She can still sound that good with someone standing on her diaphram?
Rita a madurado mucho.
* ha madurado
So, whose version? Rita's or Alba's? Whichever one you're listening to at the time. Rita's phrasing here is so cool.
This one for the trumpet solo by fredrik Noren and Joan Mar Sauque and Trombone and vocal by Rita Payes

El tiempo tiene ningún impacto, Rita.
Y también Alba. 🙂
