    Wow, the green/brown/yellow one looks like a path full of pebbles. So beautiful.

    Both of the cowls are gorgeous! I am really motivated to work on my spinning skills (meaning actually learn). Quick hack for the long tail cast on - use 2 “ends” (either from 2 balls or beginning and end of 1 ball) and then clip the non-working yarn. Never come up short (or waaayyyy too long) again!

    A fairly accurate gauge for long tail cast on is to wrap the yarn around the needle for how many stitches you need (usually a few less is adequate).
    Love the colours of that yarn 😍

      Awesome! I am glad you found it helpful. I am like you, I want to see the finished object on a person to get a sense of how it will look, and where I might want to modify it. 😃

    I'm absolutely in love with how this came out. The colors are amazing. Although I have a secret to admit. When I run out of yarn on my long tail cast on I'll just switch to a cable cast on as long as there aren't too many stitches left. Lol. 😬

      I won’t tell!😉 I ended up taking it out and casting on fewer stitches and going up a needle size anyway, then I was sad I cut it, I had very little left on my cast off! I was getting nervous! 🤣

    Stunning colour and texture, the purl thick knit thin really brings out the qualities of the yarn. I love your colour selection in both the yarns for the cowls. Off to see if I can find the spin vids you did for these. Hello btw great channel have been following you for a couple months now.. 😊

    Hi. I am new to spinning and knitting. Love your videos. I have a question about the cowl. Did you have a pattern or is this your own? And how yards is needed to make this cowl? Thx

    • @jkfiberarts
      @jkfiberarts  4 месяца назад +1

      Welcome! Thanks for watching! This is a pattern that I found in a blog. It is called the simple rules,cowl. I believe there is a link to it on revelry. I used thicker yarn than theirs. You can make it any length you want. I cast on enough stitches, where I thought it would be not too long. The pattern is simple. All you do is knit the thin and pearl the thick. That’s it. It’s random. That’s what makes it look so organic. you can make it as wide as you want. Stop Knitting when you like the width. I would knit a swatch to make sure that you like the needle size you selected. Spin happy!

      @@jkfiberarts do you remember the yardage to make this particular one? I love that size

    • @jkfiberarts
      @jkfiberarts  4 месяца назад

      @pamelaparadis5856 it was 4oz of top. It was probably 2.5-3 oz of top. I made another one from the same yarn and it was thinner, I liked the thicker one too!
