    Beautiful 😍 I've recently started trying out textured yarns and I love it. It's so different to obsessing over perfect grist and uniformity. I did a dye lot with my mom a couple weekends ago and I used a little bit of that for a spin and did a correspun slub yarn with random beehives and stuff from your beehive video! ❤ I did the core spin, and plied it with an overspun-opposite spun-single with a double auto wrap. One of the autowraps was a tencel thread to give it some integrity and to hold the opposite ply together.!
    It made the most beautiful bouncy, lofty, unique yarn I've ever made. It's gorgeous. I made a tunisian crochet scarf out of it for my mom for Christmas. :]
    I'm going to do another dye adventure this weekend with her before it gets cold here in West Virginia/Kentucky. I recently purchased a 2 shaft tabletop loom and I'm hoping to learn to weave something decent before Christmas haha. I'd like to make another couple skeins of textured yarn with wool we dye together and weave something for her :]
    Thanks for truly being an inspiration and an overall beautiful human being. ❤️ seeing your videos makes me excited to craft. Ever since I started spinning, after watching every video you have to offer 😅, I've started to experience creativity flow and it's like therapy for me. So thank you, again! You're awesome! ❤❤😊🧶🐑

    Definitely try and find a crochet stitch that focuses heavily on the yarn being used. Probably a simple stitch that doesn't fight the yarn.
    It is really pretty! Good luck finding the right pattern for your yarn. Can't wait to see this become something. Other than a yarn you don't use because it is to pretty use. Not that I would wait 5 years before using the yarn I got while out on the OBX North Carolina 😊

  • @wendyg8536
    @wendyg8536 Год назад +1

    Imo, a simple stocking stitch helps to highlight the natural yarn art texture, rather than confuse, as crochet would also be too confusing.. weaving would also be excellent.
    Glad you didnt add the other yarn as a ply.. too much going on, at most ply with the sparkle thread.

    QUESTION: when you spin your yarn, is there a specific technique with the twist in your plys (s and z twist), that works better between knitting and crocheting with it? I have heard it mentioned a long time ago, and since you make your own, I wanted your thoughts and experience on the subject

    • @JillianEve

      @@JillianEveit also seems to make a difference for left and right handed knitters. I've often struggled with yarn splitting, and it's only since spinning and learning about z and s twists that I understand why!

    • @nz-nz
      @nz-nz Год назад +1

      I have definitely noticed a difference when crocheting.
      But I tell you something funny… The other day I wanted to create something with some balls of my handspun yarn (which involved me “un”-plying them and re-plying them into a thicker yarn). I couldn’t understand why this particular ball of yarn wouldn’t “un”-ply 🤔🤔
      and then I realised it was an S played yarn!!! 🤣
      And there’s another lesson: always label your work 😬

    I love making art yarn, and it’s fun to watch other people do it!
    Recently I started creating and spinning art yarn for a massive project I’m super excited about. I’m making a circular wall hanging in honor of Hydrocephalus Awareness Month (which was last month, but I started last month!) to tell a story about challenges with Hydrocephalus and learning to be resilient. I was born with Hydrocephalus, but I have been lucky enough to have only had 12 surgeries in my life.
    It’s going to be all core spun unless I decide to change something.
    Do you have any advice on core spinning? I tend to put too much twist in my yarn.

    • @JillianEve
      @JillianEve  Год назад +2

      I love your project idea! If you have too much twist in your core spin, you can spin the core the opposite direction before spinning it the other way to wrap fiber on it. Then you will get less twist over all. Happy spinning!

    I'd crochet that, but mostly because I only crochet and tablet weave so far and it looks like a weird candidate for tablet weaving. Though that might be worth learning how to do the triangular loom thing for, a light squooshy shawl is something I could use more than a hat

    • @JillianEve
      @JillianEve  Год назад

    That is so wonderful, and it might solve a dilemma I have: a friend's favorite colors are orange & purple. I was thinking of a scarf but couldn't figure out how to weave one. Ta-Da! Self striping yarn! I can use natural dyes to get orange with Osage and purples with cochineal--spin it up and she can do as she wishes with it.

    that's a lot like the yarn I'm knitting with right now and I absolutely hate it. It puts splitty yarn into perspective! I have to watch every single stitch or the stupid curls catch and make fake stitches. Ripping back is so bad I wind up throwing away yarn. Yeck. never ever will I ever make or buy a textured yarn. Such a pretty yarn. A hat or scarf crocheted. A wonderful cozy item either one.😊

    I love this yarn so much, and that is saying something because I absolutely detest pink. No, I don't really know why, but this is one of the prettiest yarns I have ever seen!

    This is absolutely stunning Evie! I’m super new to spinning so I just have one question and that is, do you have to wash to set this yarn or do you only wash to set your plied yarns? Pardon my ignorance, just trying to learn as much as I can. Thank you so much for all you share with us!

    It's gorgeous! A narrow scarf knit lengthwise is what I'd think of making with it.

    A cowl that could also be worn as a hood. Display all the textures and colors withjust a hint of the sparkle. Thats just me, I'm a novice at crochet so i don't know a whole lot.

    This is a really cool color. I wonder what would happen if you made it 2 ply, but 1 ply is the navy and the other ply is the locs. That would look cool knitted 🤔

    It looks so fun! I'd do a thin scarf/neck tie/belt to add some fun detail to any outfit with over-sized needles or hook.

    Love the combo and how the yarn turned out! How did you finish? Wet set & thwack? Thank you!

    I'm not very good at knitting or crochet but I think a broomstick lace shawl would love lovely with that yarn

    That is the most Aubergine shade of fiber I have ever seen (in the beginning) it’s like aubergine Aurora borealis ❤🎉😊
