Melodie Nicolle is a fiber artist based in Caen, France.
Her works centre around softness and textures.
She uses strictly vegan and cruelty-free materials and spins her own yarns from vegan fibers using traditional carding and spinning techniques.
As a self-taught fiber artist suffering with severe anxiety, Melodie considers her work to be a meditative and therapeutic practice, one that allows her to find beauty and meaning in each piece as she steps out of her mind and into her heart, intuitively trusting the fibers and her hands.
Love this scrappy yarn!! Sooo pretty!!🥰
Thank you! It's a forever favorite of mine too 🥰

ths s so mesmerising.
Thank you very much 🥰
I love the texture in this beautiful yarn ❤Could you please give me the measurements of the frame you wind your yarn onto & the size pipe you used please I would love to make one for myself as it would be nice for steaming the yarn I dabble in Thank you 😊
Aw thank you very much! This is actually an embroidery tool that I repurposed because it's super practical! It's from DMC

@@happymelodieart thank you very much I’m going to try & make one fingers crossed 🤞
It's fascinating! Thank you for the video) Merci beaucoup!
Aw you're very welcome, merci à vous! 🥰
☺️
Thank you so much for sharing your adventure in creating this beautiful yarn
I'm truly happy you enjoyed it 🥰 Thank you for being here and for these sweet words ❤️
Gorgeous
Thank you 🥰
Beautiful!
Thank you very much 🥰
from Gerry- When you started the second core I thought you were going to ply with the thinner yarn. Your yarn is beautiful. What will you do with something so thick? I think I liked the first spin better. Be blessed.
My yarns are usually used for weaving projects. That’s why I like making them very textured and thick. But the corespun singles that are thinner are also used for crochet, knitting etc.
And thank you very much 🥰❤️
What is the cut up fiber ? Very coll!!!!
In this yarn i use a lot of my scraps from my weaving projects so a lot of these are remnant of cotton, especially cotton cord use for macramé or weaving 😉
Is this a Golden Fleece carder?❤
No it's a Brother Drum Carder 🙌
Are you autowrapping on the second bobbin or corresponding again? It's beautiful! I've watched this video 5 times!
Aw thank you I'm so glad you enjoyed it! I am corespinning again indeed 😉👍
Hi, I am subscribed to you channel! I really enjoy your videos. I would like to learn to do art yarn, thick in part and unusual yarn combos, etc... And I would like to use the tools you are using. Could you do a tutorial on how to pick a carding drum, brushes, mat and spinning tools. What works for you? What do you like? Thank you so much. I really appreciate it! Keep making beauty! Thank you again.
Thank you so much and thank you being here 🥰❤️❤️I’m currently working on some ressources to learn to card fibers so the best thing to do is to get on my email list to find out what’s coming 😉 www.happymelodie.com/newsletter-signup
Pretty! How fast do you treadle when you spin that type of yarn? Also, what did you use for the core?
Thanks! Oh honestly it depends on how "in-the-zone" I am! 😅 But usually pretty fast I think.
I wonder what it would look like if you spun it as is. I think it would make an interesting bulky two ply to knit a hat. Nice music choice, btw.
Oh that would definitely work great no doubt and so much texture would show up! 😍 Thank you I'm glad you liked them 🥰
What is the fiber in the pink plastic box?
It's little scraps of yarns from previous woven projects.
What type of drum carder is that please?
Hi! This is the Standard Drum Carder from Brother Drum Carder. You can find it here if you want more details: brotherdrumcarder.com/
Und was machst aus dem Abschleppseil jetzt?
I've always wondered how the individual fibers were able to be spun like that and hold together. So they just.. do. And how you feed the material to the spinner-- I would probably get rope burn. I get rope burn just by sewing! Or even simply crocheting .You're probably used to doing this and it doesn't bother, yeah? Or maybe it's just my skin
I know it’s magical almost! 😃 also no rope burn I promise. First the vegan fibers I use are incredibly soft. Also I don’t use a firm grip even though it might look like it in videos. The whole process is actually a very gentle and easy one in my experience. And I do have very sensitive skin with eczema and lots of allergies so you can trust me on that 😉)
Stunning! What fibers do you tend to use? I’m aware of your use of vegan fibers. The fibers appear to be incredibly soft with a nice staple length. Do you dye your own fiber? What is the TPI on your drum carder? Also, do you autowrap with thread on your singles or just core spin? And what are you using for the core?
Thanks but I am in the UK
Am I the only one who wants hand made knitting yarn and not macrame yarn?
My yarns are actually meant for weavers for the most part, and some macrame artist as well of course.
However, handspun yarn for knitting is a whole different set of technique and since I’m not a knitter, I don’t feel confident that I can get the yarns as perfect as I would want, for that use. Also keep in mind, handspun yarn for knitting, would probably be quite pricey I think. They take much more time to spin and prep and you would need a lot more of it depending on your project.
But if you’re interested I am absolutely sure you can find spinners out there that spin yarns for knitting. Good luck 🥰🫶
@@happymelodieart ah. Make sense thank you.
Your bio reminds me of the wonderful Kate Jackson of The Last Homely House YT channel, who says, “get out of your head and into your hands.” I bet you’d enjoy her online company.
Ooh I’ll definitely check her out then! Thank you 🥰
You dont need the music overlay on this video. Its a bit distracting.
I like the music choice
@@JW-dg9gf Thank you very much ❤
@@JW-dg9gfMusic is nice. It’s not distracting unless there’s talking/explaining and it’s hard to hear with the music but if the music is soft enough and not louder than the person’s voice then it’s ok. You’re right, i love the music too, it goes with the flow of her work🥰💜
Thank you that’s very kind of you 🥰
i hope, this shiney fiber don't turn into microplastic..
The yarns I create are meant for weaving and they are not meant to be washed so no problem whatsoever about microplastic.
if you care so much about the environment and where microplastics are coming from, go and bother the huge corporations, the fishing industries, and waste management ceos, not one single fiber craft youtuber. seriously.
I wholeheartedly appreciate this, thank you very much, truly ❤️🥰❤️
