- In the March Paradise FIbers package I got, we got this lovely black top and the beautiful and fun dyed locks from Compass Moon. I've been thinking about art yarn, and it's finally time! I've also been trying to spin more to keep the stash from growing as fast as it has been.
thanks for hanging out with me while I use my blending board to make some sushi rolls, corespin them and auto wrap them. Of course I added Angelina for some sparkle too!

This was exactly what my Tuesday afternoon needed! For a name, what about Scratch Art - you know those papers that are all black and then you use a wooden stylus to reveal the bright colors underneath
i agree with the previous pillow comments
I know lots of folks love art yarn, but it gives me anxiety.
That’s what I love about this channel. You have something for everyone.
That yarn is beautiful! Anything you make would be great, but my official vote is PILLOW!!
You should call the yarn Aurora Borealis.
Oh Wow! I’ve just found you at 2am waiting for my beautiful Ragdoll girl to give birth. Your video caught my eye because I have a super fine black merino and her paddock buddy us a Moorit (brown) Corriedale. I’ve wanted to spin for years. I have the same wheel you have used in this video but am lacking the confidence to “just do it!” You make it seem easy(I know it’s not and will take me many hours to master) but I seem to have all the gear: fleeces, carding drum, mini picker and an amazing 6’ triangle loom I was gifted during lockdown! Thanks for the video, I’m probably going to watch them all while doing my midwifery for my darling girl!
It's always a better day when Trish has put up a video!
It’s sooooo beautiful! Core spinning! I didn’t think of that! 🤦♀️ Ohhhhh it’s sooooo beautiful! 😍 Hhhmmmmm 🤔 Unicorn 🦄 Tales! That’s what I think you should call it! 🖤🧶🖤
I can NOT wait to see the yarn worked into the final project. Again- showing us the process gives us courage to try. Thanks
Trish, you are just so freakin awesome. I'm six minutes in and I'm just so here for this.
Looks like Voodoo Magic!!! Love this!
Hey friend. I am not a fan of art yarn, nor have I ever been drawn to working with locks. I'm grateful for the video (which I watched all the way through) as it cemented that fact for me. Right now, that is. I reserve the right to change my mind in the future - rewatch this video, and try try try! I appreciate you - thanks!
Hi Trish
Love your Chanel. Really love the idea of a tribe that loves all sorts of different fibre like I do. I’m in Australia and we suffer the merino-ness but with effort other breeds can be found and celebrated. I also love the ideology of fibre leading the prep, spinning & final article. I recently binged your breed study 2021, so interesting thanks. LOVE that there is no wrong in fibre art. Thanks again for all your energy!!
Louise
Thank you so much, Louise!
Love the spinning videos the most. Love how this worked up. Please weave a scarf.
Love, love, love! that yarn, its what I want to spin.
from Gerry- I finally did my first auto-wrap on my Ashford jumbo e-spinner. It was fun. I love watching you work. There is always something to learn. Thanks so much and have a blessed Easter.
I love these colors. I also see hulk vibes.
Yes I love art yarn, my husband is the weaver. The result are so colourful.
What a fun spin!!!
At the end when you were holding the yarn up, it reminded me of dreadlocks…
I think you should call the yarn: reggae.
Pillow! Fun to watch. Good to see you. Art yarns are so fun to make and hold (and collect on a shelf). They do lend themselves to weaving way more than knitting. (Boo😢). Looking forward to seeing the project.
I've been thinking about using them in crochet, and if i do I'll film it for sure!
What a lovely yarn! I wish I could reach into the monitor, grab it and run and hide to pet this beauty! 😍
I've just rewatched this video because I want to make something like it for a Kaleidoscope Cardigan. It's so pretty!
I love spinning
It was fun to watch you use the blending board versus your drum carder. You brought a nice pop of color into my day today.
Beautiful! This would make a wonderful pillow for your house.
❤Yarn is cute! Can't wait to see what you make from it!🎉
My first thought when I saw this yarn was Marti Gras! Party, party, party. It very pretty
Great video -- thanks!!! You made art yarn look so do-able -- I like the locks sticking out!!! That would be pretty as an accent in a scarf!!
It was fun watching you spin art yarn! That was a fun one.
That’s making me want to pull out some dyed locks that have been languishing in my stash! I’d love to see that in a scarf… curious about what type of warp you’d use for that?
it looks like Mardi Gras colors to me- a scarf or a cowl would be beautiful I think. Thanks for the video!
It reminds me of neon signs at night. I'm so intimidated by the art yarn now. It was the first thing I really wanted to spin but seeing other's beautiful stuff and mine being so hit or miss has deterred me a lot. I like most of my plain spins a lot but my art yarns go wrong a lot more often. I probably just need the right fiber maybe. I think I try too hard to make it be an art yarn rather than letting it happen naturally. I did a random batt with a really random freeform drafting style and it was a lot of fun and I really liked the result.
a scarf would be pretty. it looks so cool! the colors remind me of athletic wear
That is sooooo beautiful, it would make an amazing pillow. Your no skill skills are inspiring x
I ended up running them through my drum carder, watching this gave me the idea. Thanks
I vote scarf. I think it would look cool with the different colors and texture.
It'll make a gorgeous pillow!
As soon as I saw you start to spin I chuckled. I am so uncoordinated, I would have it all tangled and bunched, it would be a mess. In saying that it is lovely and would make a great pillow/cushion
That yarn is so gorgeous! I can’t wait to see what you create with it.
I think you should make a scarf so everyone can see it and enjoy it!!
That is funtastic. You should call it North Selas. I would love to see you turn it into a scarf.❤
Turned out beautifully. A pillow would be fun. I have some spindle spun fiber that I think might be nice woven.
That looks like fun! I think I'd call it "Witchy Wool"
The first thing I thought was Guardians of the galaxy 😂 I would make a pillow 😁
Nice. Gives me "Goth Spring" vibes haha
A scarf would be wonderful!
I love the way the yarn turned out. I will have to give it a go.
I really like how the locks look
I’ve never Auto wrapped before. That is something to try. I think it could make a cute hat.
That looked like a party on your blending board😁
I love wrapped spinning but never know what to do with those funky fun yarns. I’m looking forward to seeing what you end up doing with yours. I like the loose tails on this.
Beautiful yarn!
Thank you! Cheers!
i can't wait to see it woven. you should definitely weave a pillow though, its too wild for a scarf.
So pretty.
Thank you! 😊
I am excited to watch this process.
I love this yarn so much!
This was interesting to watch, I don't know if I'm skilled enough to spin 3 things together. I know how I'm going to spin the corriedale, I'll have to think on the locks. You've made a really pretty yarn.❤
Love it! I think a pillow would be really cute ;)
Name it the hulk! lol. I vote for a pillow- not sure how I would feel about all that texture on my neck.
Enjoyed this video, it has got me wanting to get fun stuff out to play with this way. Blessings.
I'm really interested in seeing what you make once you spin the warp, a scarf or cowl will be pretty. Thanks for a great video!❤❤
The Hulk or the Green Goblin :) Some of that green looks almost glow in the dark green on camera lol. I bet it would make a fun pillow. I haven't had my blending board out in awhile. I get that out more after getting the mill end bags. I've still never tried to make any sort of art yarn yet. I really should try it at least once lol.
I am still uncomfortable doing art yarn, just so use to consistent yarn. I am inspired now to give it a whirl
Thank you Trish
so fun weave a pillow
So so gorgeous thanks for tutorial!
Mmmmmm love me some bright colours on black background.
I'm terrified by corespinning, personally, compared to just drafting and spinning fiber. There's just too much to keep track of.
Anyway my submission for the name is Back To The Future, and I definitely vote pillow, I think those pops of colour would be an instant little burst of cheerfulness in any day, and black goes with everything.
I love how this yarn turned out. I have never tried autowrap. It looks once the autowrap is attached it just does its thing.
That turned out quite neat 🐰
Absolutely love it! Wish I had a wheel with a bigger orfice to make my own.
Another great video, thanks Trish. This is so inspiring and I have some black Corriedale at home, and some crazy locks…🤔 I am in hospital…stoma reversal surgery is happening tomorrow🫣 So I can dream about the crazy yarn I will make when I get home😂
Beverly, I am praying right now that your reversal surgery is successful and your recovery is a smooth one. Sweet dreams about your yarn. 😊~ Tami
Aww, thank you Tami😊🙏
As always a very interesting video!
That is really fun yarn. I need to try spinning like that.
It came out so pretty!
A friend of mine lent me a book by Jacey Boggs called Spin Art. Wow! All the different art yarns you can spin! Most of the projects are beyond my skills🤔, but I will def try some of them. I just ordered some locks from Compass.
Yay, a video from Trish! Just what I needed just now. 😊 So fun. Look forward to see what you are doing with that black top
I need to get my blending board out and have some fun.
It is such a fun yarn! I haven't done mine up yet, I was going to use the fiber and the locks in other ways, but I will definitely need to try some fun textured yarn at some point!
It's gorgeous!
I’d love to see you make a pillow out of this. Such a beautiful, art yarn you’ve made!~ Tami 😊
Looks like fun!
Love this, excited to get my yarn from you
😍😍 wow this so cool love this
Oh Trish, this is gorgeous. What about calling it Mardi Gras?
Thank you for this!
OH. I blended mine on the drum carder and now I understand why that didn’t work! Making those massive rolags is definitely the way to go. I already used the black wool in something else, so I’ll use gray or white.
So beautiful!!! When I finally feel like I might be comfortable trying my hand at art yarn I know I’ll be watching and rewatching all of these videos over and over again! ❤
I think you should name it kore. It reminds me of springtime in the underworld.
Turned out pretty, I don't know what I would call it. I am going to try it soon. Thanks.
Oooh, I love art yarns! I'd really like to make some myself, but I'm worried I'll never have a use for them.
I love it
Black magic
I’m loving the idea of art yarn. I have seen it a lot and tried a few but did it all wrong LOL I wish I had started with core spinning, instead I jumped right into bee hive 🤦🏻♀️ it was atrocious lol confession though, I have only been spinning for a year so I am still fairly new.
Also, I notice you mix up some new music, sounds good 👍🏼
Thank you, Trish, for sharing your process. I think a scarf would be lovely, a loosely woven one, and love the Mardi Gras name suggestion. I am about to learn how to spin. Do you have any suggestions on great beginners how to book?
Nice
❤❤❤love
Does one have to use the auto wrap step? That is, why not leave it as core spun? Love your videos as well as your whimsical delivery.
My next video will show core spinning without auto wrapping. Sometimes I just want to introduce another color and more interest.
Cha cha cha for a name
Thanks for reminding me about the tetanus shot! Corespun is definitely on my todo list! Love it!
Would you please tell us who makes the Amish swift and the piece that you have your bobbins on? I love that they are beautifully worked wood pieces.
