    Superb video. Clear and very well explained. Subscribed and look forward to more tutorials. A series on the G1000 would be awesome.

    Is this video for PC or Xbox Series X, controls wise?

      Hi Romeo Alpha, I'm not familiar with MSFS on Xbox, but I suspect the content should apply to both.

    OK, I am in the A5 sitting in the water AT sea level. Altimeter reads 280 feet, I press "B" on the keyboard and it updates to 80 feet. A5 instruments only has gauges, no knobs to zero the Altimeter as an online user instructed. Am I missing something? 😳

      Hi primoroy, what location are you at when you see this behavior? Also, I see a baro pressure knob at the lower left of the altimeter in my A5.

    So for some reason when I'm landing in Chicsgo and surrounding states I have the altimeter set correctly but it shows me approximately 500 ft above what I'm at. The automation says 500 but reads 1000 which makes my ils landings impossible without slamming into the ground. Southern states work fine. Any suggestions?

      Hi Toby, I'm not sure I fully understand your situation without seeing it, but do be aware that the altimeter shows altitude above Mean Sea Level (MSL), not Above Ground Level (AGL). So when you're on the ground at Chicago, which has an elevation above sea level of 680 feet, that's what your altimeter should read when it's properly set.

      @@FlightSimCoach For example Atis said my pressure for Chicago ohare should be at 30.06 which I set on approach. I was still approximately 600 feet high. I'm baffled.

      @@tobymorvant8175 When you say that you were 600 feet high, at what point are you referring to? The altimeter should indicate around 680 feet once you touch down at ORD - this is to be expected.

    If you don't have a keyboard can you map the BARO to a button?

    • @FlightSimCoach
      @FlightSimCoach  2 года назад

      Hi Mr. Opinion, you should be able to assign it to a button. The command you want to look for is called "Set Altimeter" (under Instruments and Systems -> Flight Instruments).

    i want to change altimeter barometric pressure in hectopascals. still not available in mfs202?

    • @FlightSimCoach
      @FlightSimCoach  4 года назад +1

      Unfortunately I haven't been able to find any settings for this yet. Your best bet would be to set the standby altimeter using its hPa window (on the left), then use the resulting inches Hg value (on the right) to set into the G1000. Hopefully they add the option to properly switch it soon enough.

    • @liquidusblue

      the Maths is pretty simple. I thought it would be more complex than inch to mm conversion for pressure but it isn't - 1 inch = 25.4mm (so 29.92 inches of mercury is 759.97 mm of mercury (29.92 x 25.4)), the caveat is this is at zero Celsius but the difference wouldn't be that great. that said in real life I'd use whatever unit I was given rather than do any conversion.

    Hi ... Very informative. You wouldn't know the quick route to resetting altimeter on Xbox version ?

    • @FlightSimCoach
      @FlightSimCoach  2 года назад

      Hi CanaryIrish, if you have a joystick or a spare button on your controller, you should be able to assign the reset command to do that (although one prior RUclips commenter mentioned this didn't work for them). If you want to try it, the command you want to look for is called "Set Altimeter" (under Instruments and Systems -> Flight Instruments). Also, you might want to consider using a traditional keyboard with your Xbox setup so you have access to even more useful keyboard shortcuts: forums.flightsimulator.com/t/recommendations-for-wireless-keyboard-and-mouse-for-xbox/464553

      Hi FinardoLittle, I'm not certain about the default MSFS G1000, but try installing the NXi G1000 mod (free). Then on the PFD softkeys, press PFD opt -> ALT Units, HPA
