I have a EL Super 16. But I like the idea of buying another Bolex. This time a SBM and having the Ultra 16 modification. I’ve seen some examples where the owners had an even wider machining to get a near 1 X 2.0 aspect ratio. I am a big fan of shooting movies at 30 FPS. The footage looks so much sharper, due to the images having less motion blur.

I sold this Bolex a few years ago. If it were me; I'd go with anamorphic on a normal 16 or super 16 camera before going with ultra 16mm. You loose a lot of quality with ultra 16 because it's less film surface area. BTW, if you want to get sharper images at 24fps just close the shutter angle for a faster shutter speed.

You need a blimp either way. A nice thick casing that would slide over the Tobin.

Hi Gerard, wondering if you’re still in possession of the Tobin Motor and if you would be willing to sell it.

Hi, with the motor are you able to shoot longer than 30 seconds?

Yes, using a motor lets you shoot ass long as the roll or magazine.

You find Bolex cameras for sale occasionally on craigslist and facebook marketplace. They are always on Ebay. you can find them for rent on sharegrid. It just depends on your location.
