You joke about the time travel, but that might not be far out; I vaguely recalll in the 90s there was one that was dressed as a 60s soldier (think it may have been like a 25th or 30th anniversary set?) and the little story bit on the back of the box was something like Dr X brought the 60s Action Man forward in time for some bullshit reason, so canonically Action Man is a time traveller.

Two possible ways to interpret this exist as I see it: 1.) Action Man is one of untold numbers of identical clones that all sides got ahold of. 2.) He is literally the only person in each battle, running around back and forth using weapons and changing uniforms to fit the side he's roleplaying as at any given moment.

In germany the SS-Uniform and Wehrmacht toys would´ve been forbidden. Other ones would have been fine, but most likely not even published.
