Good job on the scriptwriting there; it can't be easy making a 1 minute video highlighting 3 key features of a phone without falling into the trap of talking like you've just had 10 large cups of coffee but you pulled it off well in this video.

Nah it's hella expensive just to get worse specs in every way possible + you're not going to fit anything more in your pocket even if you have a flip style phone.
Whereas if you have a fold style phone you have a normal phone for texting etc + a tablet if you want to play or watch Netflix or whatever. It's still very expensive but at least you get good specs and it's a 2 in 1 device so you don't need to buy a tablet

Okay, I can’t knock what you like. If it works for you, it works for you.
But…I don’t get it? At all???
For one thing, a folding phone’s still effectively gonna take up your whole pocket, at least for how I’d use it. I mean, I’m not about to put my keys in there to scratch up the outside, and my wallet’s too big to fit it alongside half a phone without being worried one will fall out the top.
But let’s just say that there IS an advantage in how much space it takes in your pocket, even though that’s not the case for me.
You get midrange specs for flagship prices. How is that worth it to take up a little less pocket space?
The other kind of folding phone makes sense to me, in fact I want one when they iron out some of the issues they have. Effectively one-hand them and pocket them like a small phone, two-hand them and multitask as well as on a small tablet - the best of both worlds as far as form factor, at the cost of some concessions and a high price tag.
But I just don’t see what usable advantage you gain from folding a phone that already fits in your pocket in half.

@@sparky6757 I guess the difference being that I really dislike the pressure my phone puts on my jeans pockets, it wears them out and stretches if I bend at the waist.
I would happily keep bits in my pocket next to my phone so would be much happier with a smaller, fatter phone.
I also have absolutely no use for a massive tablet-size display. That is not something I have any use for.
To each their own I suppose!

It is totally great that the folding phone/device market is expanding and showing competitive innovation. This benefits us all. However I have noticed that almost all RUclips reviews either fail to mention or don't go in depth on the exceedingly important aspects of 1) software and, 2) durability. I haven't seen any other manufacturer show anything close to Samsung's DEX and their multi-tasking UI. How about water resistance and long-term durability? These are easily as important--for me even more so--than whether the crease and the gap are the smallest. Yes, aesthetics are for sure a major point for choosing a device. But if the software sucks, maybe you end up with a pretty looking phone which can't do as much and doesn't last as long.

    • @smartsquirrel1
      @smartsquirrel1 Год назад +17

It's difficult to put a review in a short I'm guessing.
But yes even on longer reviews, nowadays the focus is on cameras, battery life and aesthetic.
No point in having snapdragon 8 gen 2 if the UI is absolute garbage. Bad news for Android fans is this is where Apple leads unfortunately. The hardware and software are in sync.
Even Samsung has too much bloatware on its UI and the processor seems to work twice as hard trying to figure out which system to use and when.
I won't even go into the whole UK market and their subgrade Exynos trash. I say this as a UK resident typing on an S22 Ultra.
Only reviewer I have seen attempt at calling them out has been Arun (Mrwhosetheboss) but I guess its also because he also lives in the UK.
It's shocking how they got away with that for so long. Heard rumours that this won't be the case for S23 lineup. Hopefully it's true.

My dad got the z fold 3 and after one year the screen protector that you're not supposed to remove, started lifting from the crease outwards and making sounds whenever you open and close.
They repaired it for free this time but I doubt they'll do that one more year later. So these folding phones aren't gonna last anywhere near as long as normal phones.

Big fan of the phone. However, I can't stop feeling as though it's a Samsung Z Fold copy in terms of overall design with a couple of improvements.
I mean the overall look, especially with the near identical camera design and placement, the folding mechanism, and the concept of having a small screen on the rear of the phone...

If you swing your hand while walking with your phone in it will it accidentally open or close and potentially break the device? Also can you fold it half way and use that as a stand to film vertical video?

I had a Flip 3. I kinda regretted it. I mean, other then a lousy battery, and the screen protector bubbled up in the crease area it wasn't a "bad" phone. The camera wasn't all that great. One good thing about it was it was so easy to put in your pocket in either pants pocket or a shirt pocket. Would I get another one? Probably not.

As a lover of my Z flip 4; i kinda like this outer display concept! The Motorola razor or z flip 5 make me feel like the outer screen is almost too big. Part of what i like about my z flip 4 is that i feel like its more protected when its closed, and the outer screen does enough to be functional while not being so functional I can get sucked into it and lose an hour out of my day just for checking a notification. This seems like a happy medium!
