Easily the best video I have found that describes the process. Thank you for posting. I need to update the BIOS in a completed build - issues with Intel Core i9-13900K. Initial BIOS flash via the BIOS failed and cannot access BIOS. CPU now being sent back to Intel under warranty, and I will Q Flash Plus the motherboard without the CPU.
After watching your video I realized how simple the process was. If you’ve never done it before and don’t know how the process works it can be intimidating. Absolutely great video. Everything was clearly explained. Thank you.
I just want to say "Thanks" for writing the most properly structured instructions for qflash/z690 that i have found. i don't know why some YT channels do not know how to explain important aspects of this like "PC can be fully assembled for this" or "rename the file first" or "while PC is turned off and flashdrive is in BIOS slot, press the qflash button and not the power button ". I"ve created the flashdrive and am prepped for the update...... i'll be back afterwards to update you on how everything went..
Was trying to update my Z690 Aero G DDR4 from BIOS F2 version to BIOS F22 version, thru Q-Flash and always gets the BIOS ID check error. Already did different methods/troubleshooting: using BIOS’ older versions for this MOBO, putting only one single file in the flash drive, trying different flash drives for Q Flash and such. Then came up with this solution and thought it’s risky as I always get the BIOS ID check error and thought I’m using the wrong update file and the MoBo might not boot, but I just went with it. And it’s the only one that EVER worked for me and did it with a fully built system unit (CPU, GPU, RAMS, Drives, plugged in peripherals). Really grateful for this video, followed every steps and carefully read the FAQs that I might ask as well. Cheers and more power!
A big mighty mighty THANK YOU, sir!!! And greetings from Germany! You saved me, because I built a new PC with an AORUS Z690 Ultra mainboard and it didn't boot at all. First I saw a 'C1' prompt on the two digit display on the board, looked it up and most notes on that said, something's wrong with the DRAM. Then I also saw the 4 checking LEDs on the board for CPU, DRAM etc, and DRAM was lit red. Sooooooooo I had to hinder myself crapping my pants at first, because the new system was quite pricy and I was pretty generous on the DRAM amount... didn't want to have dead DRAM modules. But then I thought about it and came to the conclusion it might possible the DRAM modules I chose (Corsair DDR5 5200 16GB, 4 modules) are not supported by the board out of box. So I got sweaty and started to franticly search for manuals how to update the BIOS without having any screen output (the PC didn't post). Your video was the third try and you were absolutely the first person who properly explained the proper way to do this. Now I'm installing Windows 11 right now (yeah, I know, many people don't like it, but I think it's not windows Vista, soooo :D). Again, thank you soooo much, sir! I really appreciate that you uploaded this video! You are a very nice human being =)

This video saved me from a huge amount of hassle! Thank you soo much for posting it. Just got the new raptor lake i9 13900k and i thought i build my machine incorrectly or something. Aorus / gigabyte need to make this flash of the Bios more apparent.
Great video, Glenn! I saw this AFTER I figured out how to do the Q-Flash sequence on that motherboard. Flashing the BIOS worked fine for me. My question: the BIOS Version F20 includes the following message in the description on the download screen: "Please make sure is updated to v19.5 or above before installing 13th Gen Processors. Windows crashes with 13th Gen Processors when Intel VMD (RAID) has been configured on 12th Gen without v19.5 updated." I clicked the link (on my old PC) to download the "Intel VMD driver" and found it is an .exe file. So, how do I run this program before I install Windows? (I will be using a 13th gen i5-13600K processor). This is a NEW computer I'm building, so I don't have a 12th gen processor to use to execute the .exe file. I posted this question on the Gigabyte tech support page, but I still have not received an answer.
Great video Glenn! I am building a new PC with this motherboard, would you recommend I update the bios beforehand then finish the build and install w11?
Glenn ... I watched the entire video ... then I see that it does not matter if you already have a built system. However, something peculiar happened ... the entire system turned on (just by pressing the q-flash button). It did not happened right away ... it took a few seconds. Now the system is not coming on ... what gives? Does that mean I need to dismantle the entire system?
If you follow the directions, it should work just fine. This procedure was designed to help when people try to install a newer CPU release in an older motherboard.
Hello, when I follow the process, the q flash led doesn't blink, instead the cpu led is solid red, any tips for that? I have the gigabyte aero g ddr5 mobo, tried it with cpu and ram, didn't work tried it without them and still cpu led is solid red.
Hey! Trying to get this done. When i first got it, it would turn on with power but no signal and so i figured i needed to flash bios. I attempted and it shut off and now my power button doesn’t turn on the computer anymore. The only thing i can do to wake it is press the qflash button. Qflash runs for about 60 seconds and then shuts of with a click and a flash of the leds. So lost here!
So are you saying you can’t do this without hitting the button on the motherboard? My computer is already built. I have to take to apart just to flash it?
Well two things. First, if your computer is already built (and it will POST), then you don't have to use this method. You can just do a regular BIOS flash from the BIOS (using regular Q-Flash, not Q-Flash Plus). Second, if you do need to use this method, you should be able to get to that Q-Flash Plus button after you take the side panel off of your case.
When I downloaded the latest bio update I try to click on it, it has a chrome icon but if I download any other ones it doesn't have that problem. Also when Itry to open them in the file it asks me what app I want to use to open it. should I just ignore that and just drag it into the thumb drive?
I did all of these steps, twice to make sure and I'm beginning to think its not the steps above but something else. My cpu light from the right side of the MB comes on and the Q flash doesn't. The entire system turns on for 1 second then off as soon as I let go of the button whether its 2 or 3 seconds. IM not quite sure what to do even if i know the light is cpu related per the manual.
Is this a fully assembled system? If so, I hope you are not turning on the system with the case power button. It can't be "running" when you try this. Otherwise, if the BIOS flash LED just blinks for a second or two and then stops, that means that the system can't find or read the BIOS update file from the USB drive. There are a number of things that might be wrong to cause that. Maybe you downloaded a BIOS for a different model motherboard, maybe it was not renamed properly, etc.
@@GlennBerrySQL It is partially assembled except for no cpu fan or AIO yet. I am following the given instructions, not pressing the case power on, and followed the USB steps. I dont think its the USB because of the instructions being to clear, but something to do with the mother board or setup.

I did have someone test it weeks before install also.
Should I retry bios update with oldest version that featured the 5000 series cpus? Would taking out motherboard bios battery for a 10 minutes reset bios to what it was before. I thought box for motherboard would have said 5000 series ready if it did have correct bios to begin with. All it said was rysen 3rd gen ready on box.

@@stephenmetz2044 The Ryzen 5 5600X doesn't have integrated graphics, so connecting the monitor to the motherboard video ports will never work. You have to use the discrete GPU and connect to it. If possible, I would try a different video card and/or test the video card you have in a different system. I would also try removing and reseating the video card. If your video card requires supplemental PCIe power, I would make sure the PCie power cable is connected and fully seated.

If you never update your BIOS, you are missing out on performance improvements, bug fixes and security updates. Many people never update their BIOS because they don't know it needs to be done, don't know how to do it, are too lazy to do it, or they just don't care.

In addition, it does not give me a video signal through any video port. What should I do?
Hi, i was pressing the button but no LED was showing up. I removed my ram sticks, gpu but not the cpu as it is very complicated to install again in my opinion. Do i have to remove the cpu?
make sure you are using the correct port as only one usb port will be for qflash bios updating. it does not matter if cpu, memory or anything else is or it not installed. Do make sure the usb stick is using FAT32 and that the file name for the bios is GIGABYTE.bin and not gigabyte.bin like in this video. then simply put the usb stick in the bios usb port, power on the psu and hit that qflash button if the motherboard has one and wait a few minutes.
Tried this with the Gigabyte Z690 Aero D. After the flash completed (~5 minutes), my computer continually restarted ad infinitum. Let it go for 30 minutes with no change before I shut off the power supply. Any idea how to fix this?

@@GlennBerrySQL na it was cos I renamed it, wasnt meant to, original filename was fine
That rotating logo in the middle is so annoy. I stopped watching this piece of crap.
That is Gigabyte's web site, but thanks for your opinion.
