When it comes to Springbank and kilkerran I've only had the Springbank 10 and kilkerran 12...and I'd take the kilkerran 12...but I love them both.😀

I love Kilkerran at all. Currently have opened 12yo and heavily peated. Glad i bought this 16yo but he is in my cabinet unopened and waits for his time you right with barrels proportions in last three editions. Mine is '22 like most Kilkerran's barrel combinations bourbon/sherry. Your '20 should be very interesting not usual. Its such a experiment, i think because marsala wine is so sweet they add just 4%. But see what you say after palete this. 😁🥂🙋🏻‍♂️

I was thinking the same when I took a dram of Kilkerran 12 yo other day. Reminds me lot of Springpank 10 yo. Less smokier than Springbank 10, but very similar high quality craft malt.

Hey Anand. The glasses I'm using are Glencairn Copitas - I had them personalized when I ordered them. Have a look at this : www.amazon.com/Glencairn-Copita-Set-2/dp/B07TWLTKTM/ref=sr_1_2?keywords=glencairn+copita&qid=1670819196&sprefix=glencairn+cop%2Caps%2C321&sr=8-2

Kilkerran core range offerings are great drams. The 12 yo has been my goto and it's a winner all day. I had a chance to snag a 16 yo but decided to get 8 CS instead recently. Cheers bro!

The 16yr is $140usd, the 8yr CS is $95 so I'll take the CS all day long...

@@Rohit_M If you can get the 16 year old for a reasonable price (I paid 98 € for it, so I decided to buy two), do yourself a favour and buy a bottle.
I know the prices for Kilkerran have already increased, it’s the same as with Springbank. I hate those scavengers and flippers responsible for the high prices with a passion, but tbh I would buy the Kilkerran 16 for 140 $ without hesitation.
The 2023 release aged to 60% in Sherry casks, 35% in Bourbon and to 5% in Rum casks. It’s a great whisky. The 8 year old is already fantastic, really good stuff for that young age.
But the 16 is one of the best Scotch whiskies I tasted in 2023. It isn’t very “loud”, it has a subtle greatness and complexity you won’t find in many other 16 year old Scotch.
It constantly changes with every dram, and the Rum casks gave him some extraordinary tropical fruit notes on the finish.
If the 16 year old costs about 40 dollars more than the 8 year old, you will pay 5$ for every extra year in the casks. That’s a no-brainer for me.
You won’t regret it. I love this whisky, it’s so much better than the Springbank 15 (and I do like the SB15).

@@justinafuchs2619 Hi, thanks and wow that cask combination of 60% in Sherry casks, 35% in Bourbon and to 5% in Rum casks already sounds great. I should've grabbed it when I had a chance because it's just disappeared and has not showed up again in the past year or so. Strange that I managed to get a bottle of SB15 in 2023. I will be on the lookout for KK16 and it is on my purchase list for 2024.

Hey, it's a butthole, but tastes better
....I haven't actually seen this around but once and @ $165. And with the mixed reviews didn't seem realistic.
My little story is that I found a stash of 2017 vintage entry level Springbanks. All at 2018 prices.
What did I do, you might ask? Well, I needed to try the Longrow NAS. And then I wanted one more which would be a backup bottle, as I have all three open on my bar. SB10, HZ10 and KK12. It had to be the KK12.
Seems like the 12 is the "WOW" whisky we really want out of Campbeltown and the 16 is not.
Now I'm anxious to go back and see what's left of those bottles.

    • @MaltActivist

Let me know what you think Jack!

    • @jackthepickledhound
      @jackthepickledhound Год назад +2

@@MaltActivist for me it's all about the finish. There is so much going on with a dram of KK as it goes down. Sweet and spicy fruit notes. The SB10 and the HZ10 do get better as the months go by and the LR peat is getting a bit sharper but they are more lemon citrus on the palate where the KK is more complex.
I'm not expecting to get new (2022) bottles to compare as the prices are crazy. The shop where I found that 2017 stash was hit by 2 hurricanes recently so I'm curious to get back there and see what's still available.

Even Kilkerran geeting expensive in my market. Alternatively been tasting Craigellachie 13 and Ben Nevis 10. Not quite same but at least affordable and possible to source.

I hate your reenactment of a retailer "Hey would you want to pay an extra 40 pounds for this bottle" I'm the silly buyer who goes :( "yehyehyehyeh let's do it". HAHA!
Springbank 10 is literally nonexistent in my market and I honestly do not regret the $126 it cost me. Never saw it again as well.
