Oh Miles… I first clicked on one of your videos because of hollow knight but I subscribed because of your humour, uniqueness, and editing - it’s amazing I would love to watch you do whatever makes you happy because your videos are always amazing.
I had this EXACT issue with my channel a year ago, and it's cool to see you being comfortable talking about it. I had the impression you were a hollow knight exclusive channel, so this video is actually insanely informative. Since I had this issue too I think I may have some good advice. I started talking about gaming as a whole that way hollow knight fans would still be interested to hear about it, so I recommend making a video like that to start off. A channel called Alex Bale made a great series about the psycological effects of feeding into what your audience does as well. Called feed the muse. His audience only wanted him to make spongebob theories, and he got tired of it. It's totally healthy to feel this way. Unfortunately like you said, RUclips has changed and variety channels are more difficult than ever to mantain

I don't know how it goes for other people, but I watch this channel for your personality, humor, and editing skills, not just because of Hollow Knight. I was one of the people who caught wind of your channel through the bench ranking, and although I do love to watch you make Hollow Knight content and I don't know much about Nintendo, I will absolutely watch those videos because it is you who makes them. Also, it takes a ton of courage to put your feelings out there in this way, so I wanted to thank you for showing us the real Miles. Awe miles. Im actually going to cry. I feel so terribly bad for you. People really do like you for your personality, me and 2 of my friends watched the HK randomizer video together and we couldn't stop laughing at both the silly enemy changes, your editing, and your jokes/humor. Me and my best friend also usually talk about youtubers in real life. And we always mention you as one of the funniest ones. I dont know how to say this, but you geniunly have such good humor that it gets me every single time and i love it so much. People really do love your content for you. Not only for the video concepts. YOU are the MAIN reason they are so good. Never think otherwise. Oh, second thing. I think its worth it to do an extremely high quality video on nintendo, with your newer editing and such because 1. NINTENDO IS HUGE 2. YOU want to do it. If you want to do it, you should. As a member of this channel since the beginning, I gotta be honest, I started watching this channel because of the Hollow Knight content (I watched all the videos now, at least what I can because of job), but I think that you should do what you feel like doing, and the type of content that motivates you, be that Hollow Knight, Nintendo or other stuff, at the end of the day, this is YOUR channel, no one else's, if you start doing content that you do not feel like doing, you will tire of youtube sooner or later, so make the content that you like, and first and foremost do it for you, because people will notice that and at the end of the day you will be more happy also, I don't know if this is a job or not, I also know that what I wrote is easier said than done, but like I said, this is your channel, and most important, these are your memories, the real ones are going to support you no matter the type of content you do. PS: English isn't my first language, so if anything sounds weird, I'm sorry, I'm not used to writing.

I haven’t watched the video fully yet, but I have to pause and say that this is very insightful for a lot of people, including me. I’ve noticed this trend in the algorithm as well- a channel gets popular for one video, and then is forced to make content SOLELY ON THAT SUBJECT for the rest of time, or the algorithm just pulls an Andy from Toy Story. I think it’s RUclips, trying to get smaller channels into the spotlight, but in reality it’s making things a lot worse for a lot of creators.

Your videos are funny, enjoyable, and honestly I'd love to see you make a video on something like the new Zelda game or the upcoming Mario game. Point is, anything you make, people will watch. It almost certainly won't be as successful as your Hollow Knight content is right now, but one day, eventually, a viral video will change it all over again and just as you blew up with Hollow Knight you'll blow up with Nintendo. You are an awesome creator and you make - and will always make, no matter the genre or game - awesome content. I don't know if this comment will reach you. I’ve honestly been going through a similar problem with my art, I’d say you should start making more content that you actually enjoy. Back when I actually watched your videos (likr a year ago lol) I stayed for your personality and commentary rather than the actual gameplay. I haven’t watched much Nintendo content in years but I’d (probably) enjoy watching something from you!

I'm sure that if all your content had been made by another person I would not have watched. I like this channel because I like the person who created it and not for its content in particular. In addition, since I was little, I have been passionate about video games and I watch a lot of videos on the subject so even if I cared about the content, it would not bother me at all to see this type of things on your channel too. The problem with algorithms unfortunately exists and I sincerely hope that if you change the type of content more and more people will start to watch. I found your channel a little less than a year ago now and even though there were a lot of other channels that focused on hollow knight content that I briefly checked your the one that I stuck with. And this wasn’t because of the videos being about Hollow Knight but many other things, the funny jokes, the personality and a lot of passion in some videos (Mainly the area ranking and bench ranking for me. I can’t read your mind and know what you enjoyed making but that was just the stuff I really saw a lot of passion in) It genuinely broke my heart seeing the situation your in and I hope your doing better. And Im aware that RUclips is more complicated than just having fun, with money and an actual livelihood attached to it but I want too tell you too have fun in every chance you get and if you enjoy making Nintendo content you should try transitioning to that. I definitely do care about your personality and not just about the fact that you make content about one of my favourite games. In fact, the only time a different RUclipsr reminded me of you, it wasn't a Hollow Knight content creator but rather because both his voice and personality really reminded me of you. (The person in question is Xeno content creator Leroy) Also, what kept me interested in let's say the smash or pass videos for example compared to other videos of that mind isn't the fact that it was about HK characters but rather the amazing reactions you and Mofs had for so many of them. (I'll never forget her reaction to Grimm). What I'm trying to say is that I care about more than just your HK content and that I'd gladly watch any Nintendo content you might put out.

I think (hope) I speak for a lot of us when I say that I really like your style of content, and I think even if it doesn’t do well, doing other things would be really entertaining to watch. It’s still fairly soon after your channel’s spike of popularity, (i know, a year seems like a long time but it’s still quite early) so I believe the algorithm is still getting used to you switching your content up. But if you keep trying, I think you can go places. You shouldn’t be kept to doing one thing on your channel just because RUclips decided that for you. I genuinely think you can do a lot of different things and it will still be good content, so please keep trying.
hey miles, i just want to say that people do watch for you and your style. there are so many people who cover hollow knight one way or another and they‘ve just never hooked me on their stuff. when you played celeste, i was seated because that‘s a game i really like done by a youtuber i enjoy. i don‘t know how old you are but you sound very young and at no point in your life should you be forced into doing one trick forever, but least of all while you‘re young. i‘m not going to deny that youtube and it‘s algorythm are a beast, even from the perspective from someone just watching, it‘s not hard to tell. regardless of what you decide to do going foward, i hope you find joy and peace in it. you‘re going to remain as the ranking guy in the zeitgeist for at least a while still, and maybe that is how you break the hollow knight box, or maybe you‘re gonna be the guy that drew a dumb little hat on bowser, or the guy that figures out why on sunday, i got the one joycon in mario kart that had motion control and falling off rainbow road activated, whereas everyone else was in cheat mode so naturally i lost every round of mario kart because i kept falling off rainbow road because i held the remote slightly wrong and assist was off. (i‘m also terrible at mario kart but i was also trying to run with broken legs) i hope you find happiness in your content in the next year and for the last month and a half of this one because nobody should get depressed over video games.
Honestly, I would probably watch, but would depend on the game I think Rekrap was in a similar situation once, he didn’t wanna be known as “That smart guy on lifesteal”, but as himself. He wanted people to watch his videos not for the game, for him. I think he’s only grown since then. It sounds to me like you want to make it less of a job and more of a hobby. Maybe just, make more content. No matter what game it is about. You will have at least a bunch of people (me included) watching the videos, plus you can start to grow a new non-hk fanbase. The videos will not do good at first, but i'm sure they will start to pick up steam eventually. I'm trying to make Hollow Knight content, and I just can't get a video that blows up, but you have become very succesful in the hk community, so i'm sure you can become succesful in other communities as well. Not going to lie i came to this channel purely for hollow knight but i stuck around for your personality. I find it to be very much enjoyable end something special. I understand as one of your 'new' or fans i might not like a different style of content especially since i'm not a big nintendofan either at least to the bigger franchises like me mario and pokemon. But you cant keep suppressing your passion, time and time again it has proof to a lot of people that it will not work for the betterment of your channel. I at least will give a shot to a new reformed non holland night video. We can all agree that until silksong the content has dry up. Honestly, I wasn't expecting this video to feel that personal to me, I think probably not many people will see this and this is best this way. I am also kinda going through hard times rn mentally, feeling super depressed and having constent anxiety. I am still in my studies and they are going horribly, causing me to feel even worse. And the thought, of quiting (studies nothing else) is always tempting me but I always feel that I am privileged in being able to purse them so it adds more pressure. and seeing that i am not alone in such a place and talking about it made me feel better. so thank you for having the strenght to talk about it. i am full on supporting you doing content that satisfy you more !! Man, please do whatever floats your boat. I remember that i actually found you over your celeste videos, and hearing that you stopped doing them because they didn't really perform is gut wrenching. Those videos got to me in a not so good time and gave me a solid 15 minutes of comfort. Glad to hear that you actually streamed it. I gegan to love hollow knight earlier this year and saw that you were also doing hollow knight content, which felt like a double win to me as a viewer. I really wish you the best man. If you want to shift your content do that please. I got nothing to do with nintendo so I won't watch it, but if that helps you having fun at what you do, that's much more important to me. Miles what makes your videoes so good is YOUR charismatic personality, humor and your quality of editing. If you continued to do, lets say hollow knight ranking vidoes, it would get boring pretty quickly, especially when you are not enjoying it. Bro I think that's the major problem every content creator in gaming is facing who got stucked in loophole in one game only some of them got released yea even so called my country kid gamers also stucked into this. I think you can you do some thing - You can create another channel where you can play and live stream your fav games - here in this you can Try or play yout main stream based game hollow knight or try new things like mods and news stuff to get revenue I know youtube algo sucks in this and this problem really can downfall any growing channel as well as interest too so I think this can work.. I agree with others who said that you should do whatever makes you the most happy because we watch your videos not because hk but because of you. But, about the "where is *** ranking" comments, thats a common comment for channels who do unusual rankings. Like people asking rusty "where is the 'all ways to reset frostbite in elden ring' ranking" they dint mean that and they only want to joke about this stuff
I started only a tiny bit ago posting stuff and I also already have something similar to your bench ranking. But as a comment told me, do what you want, do what you enjoy, especially if it makes you feel better as a person making it. Of course i don’t fully get your situation since the scale and money stuff, but I still think that just making art that is more popular than the stuff you like is extremely unhealthy A while ago I was also a twitter artist, and the art that were basically shit posts were the only ones that gained any attention. Obviously i double down it and after a few weeks I felt that I lost what made me love it. Don’t this mistake, even though it’s incredibly tempting and almost obviously the thing you have to do. That’s because, even though it’s hard to truly see it, the popularity of something doesn’t say if it’s good or not Just try to make the stuff that you love, don’t continue “pleasing the fans”, you also have to please yourself

I remember you from the p3 videos a while back when you had like 2k subs and I am amazed of your hard work and dedication you put in this channel! I think what you are doing is great and I support you. Hearing you are depressed of making videos made me sad as you are the person who encouraged me to continue playing Hollow Knight after a while. Besides, you are in the middle of a playthrough series and it puts a smile on my face when I have an hour in front of me and can enjoy the content you make. Not a lot of people admit what they are uncomfortable about and I am impressed that you had enough courage to say it all out. I am 100% on your side, keep up the good work!
while i must confess that i did start watching your content primarily because of you making hollow knight videos, and as someone who is not invested in nintendo games i would most definitely choose a hollow knight video over a nintendo video, i stuck around and will continue doing so regardless of the type of content you make, because it was your personality that really gave charm to the videos you make, not the topic. i'm sure this is the case for a good chunk of us here.
As someone who got their gaming start with nintendo, having many amazing memories of breath of the wild, mario galaxy, and plenty of other titles, yet still having hollow knight as my favorite game, what you described as what you wanted your channel to be is exactly the kind of channel i want, good luck!
The reason why i come to this channel is for the incredible effort, passion, and time clearly visible in your videos, as well as the creativity you put into seemingly dull topics, thats why i love the interesting, longer videos (eg: smash or pass, gartic phone, bench ranking) not because of hollow knight, as long as you bring the same creativity and humor i will watch whatever, also please make more long videos.
You clearly have many friends in the youtube community, and some not in it, and your collaborations with them are some of my favorite things i have seen, the idea of seeing windette, mossbag, cc, reylea and others playing mario oddyssey multiplayer or other things like it sound incredible, i am incredibly excited to see what is in store.
I understand that i am in the vocal minority, although im not a die hard fan, i came to this channel for different reasons than most, and im not gonna lie and tell you that if you switch to breath of the wild content you will reach a million subs, but i do think its worth a try, attempt at least one video, but give it your all, do exactly what you want to do, and see how it works, who knows what may happen.

I remember in your Sly video you talking about Forgotten Land releasing soon! What did you think about that game anyway? I honestly prefer the traditional 2d Kirby games. Kirby Return to Dreamland on the Wii was what got me into video games in the first place (mostly because it’s local multiplayer was the GOAT and I was able to play with my lil’ bro. I also got Hollow Knight on switch and wouldn’t have know about it otherwise. In my opinion, make whatever you want! It doesn’t matter if it doesn’t get as much views as your Hollow Knight ones, as long as you have fun doing it. Otherwise what’s the point? I always feel bad for those rich people who are stick doing what they hate… or else. My point is, do what you love! I’ll watch your Nintendo videos. Maybe you can do rankings for different games because your so good at those. Whatever you decide to do, I wish you luck and will support you!

I think if you start transitioning to a more mixed route between hollow knight and Nintendo, you could get an even larger fan base to keep supporting you and keep things going in the algorithm over time. I can’t personally speak on if changing your content will work or not, but I feel like if you aren’t enjoying it, then you should try to branch out sooner rather than later. Plus Hollowknight is 1 game, and eventually you are going to run out of content to make. Making a new ranking video may be good in the short term, but because it’s an “objective” video, it furthers the idea that people watch you for the content and not you. Plus you will run out of things to rank/similar Hollowknight content with an audience that only cares about the benches video. Regardless of if it is good financially in the short term, I think you should branch out into other stuff because of both the financial long term and for you personally too. If you aren’t enjoying your job as a RUclipsr, there are tons of other regular jobs that make you much more money if you don’t care about enjoying your work. Also once Silksong comes out (doubtful), you can make a few videos on that still mixed with other content and hopefully introduce new people to your personality.
Just like the rest I had discovered your channel through a mainstream Hollow Knight video (the smash or pass list for this instance) but what kept me here within your channel was your personality, your commentary, editing, pacing and just overall the vibe of your videos. I continued to watch your videos afterwards even when I lost my passion and enjoyability for Hollow Knight just to keep watching you, not the game itself. I would love to see what you oh so want to pursue with Nintendo affiliated content. While I'm not interested with Nintendo at all, I'd still remain here to watch it all just for the fact that youre the one producing this content. And well, managing to spark a new passion to someone for something else just because of them, might just be one the best things a content creator could ever achieve. We wish you a swell success with all of your passions!
I think you should do whatever content you like, you make it to have fun and share your creativity. If you were doing it only for the algorithm it wouldn't feel this way, it would feel like a chore. The first videos I watched of yours were Hollow Knight, yes, but I eventually I sub because you made me laugh and enjoy your style. You should never give up on your dreams, passions, and joys. I've only seen the ranking videos and the enemy randomizer one, (I accidentally clicked on this one but it piqued my interest so I finished it) so i suppose I'm an average viewer of the channel. A lot of comments here say they will watch regardless, and I'm sure they will, but the people who actually watch this video (which I assume will be less than average) are the people who watch your videos for you and will watch any video, so it's not a very good measure of interest. Anyway, from the videos I have seen, it seems like you bring enough to the table personality wise for people to stick around for other types of videos. I'd recommend making a nintendo video in a similar style to your hollow knight ones (like a ranking of all bosses in paper mario or something). It won't completely alienate your viewbase, but it'll also open the door for new viewers who are here for variety content.
I think an important thing to know in life is, when you don’t enjoy things, they will eventually get worse. Sure, if you do Nintendo videos now, you will get low views, but if you keep going pushing out non-hk, fans will come that aren’t hollow knight fans! So if you really enjoy Nintendo content, do it! Just do whatever makes you happy.
I first found you from radiant rumble, but I stayed from your personality Also I feel like I should say this, I’m kinda tired of seeing hollow knight things everywhere, I enjoyed the game as much as the next person but when every other video I watch has hollow knight music (which I love but still) it just means it always comes back to hollow knight. It also annoys me how any handrawn indie metroidvanias are just called hk clones no matter how different/how much effort they have. And in a lot of cases it causes these small great games to not even be tried, they just get written off as a “cheap knockoff”, also paper Mario games are some of my favourites, I’d love to see you play them (the first one I played was colour splash, I got to the whole paper Mario game series a bit late). Also yoshi’s woolly world is by far the best Nintendo game (to me) so I’d love seeing you play it
You are very brave for making this video, being a RUclipsr is like being an artist imo so I get why you would want to keep your style and self in your content, not only fulfill the wishes of people that happen to follow you. That ain't no easy thing. I had this EXACT issue with my channel a year ago, and it's cool to see you being comfortable talking about it. I had the impression you were a hollow knight exclusive channel, so this video is actually insanely informative. Since I had this issue too I think I may have some good advice. I started talking about gaming as a whole that way hollow knight fans would still be interested to hear about it, so I recommend making a video like that to start off.
A channel called Alex Bale made a great series about the psycological effects of feeding into what your audience does as well. Called feed the muse. His audience only wanted him to make spongebob theories, and he got tired of it. It's totally healthy to feel this way. Unfortunately like you said, RUclips has changed and variety channels are more difficult than ever to mantain

People really do like you for your personality, me and 2 of my friends watched the HK randomizer video together and we couldn't stop laughing at both the silly enemy changes, your editing, and your jokes/humor.
Me and my best friend also usually talk about youtubers in real life. And we always mention you as one of the funniest ones. I dont know how to say this, but you geniunly have such good humor that it gets me every single time and i love it so much. People really do love your content for you. As a member of this channel since the beginning, I gotta be honest, I started watching this channel because of the Hollow Knight content (I watched all the videos now, at least what I can because of job), but I think that you should do what you feel like doing, and the type of content that motivates you, be that Hollow Knight, Nintendo or other stuff, at the end of the day, this is YOUR channel, no one else's, if you start doing content that you do not feel like doing, you will tire of youtube sooner or later, so make the content that you like, and first and foremost do it for you, because people will notice that and at the end of the day you will be more happy also, I don't know if this is a job or not, I also know that what I wrote is easier said than done, but like I said, this is your channel, and most important, these are your memories, the real ones are going to support you no matter the type of content you do.

I haven’t watched the video fully yet, but I have to pause and say that this is very insightful for a lot of people, including me. I’ve noticed this trend in the algorithm as well- a channel gets popular for one video, and then is forced to make content SOLELY ON THAT SUBJECT for the rest of time, or the algorithm just pulls an Andy from Toy Story.
I think it’s RUclips, trying to get smaller channels into the spotlight, but in reality it’s making things a lot worse for a lot of creators.

Your videos are funny, enjoyable, and honestly I'd love to see you make a video on something like the new Zelda game or the upcoming Mario game. Point is, anything you make, people will watch. I found your channel a little less than a year ago now and even though there were a lot of other channels that focused on hollow knight content that I briefly checked your the one that I stuck with. And this wasn’t because of the videos being about Hollow Knight but many other things, the funny jokes, the personality and a lot of passion in some videos (Mainly the area ranking and bench ranking for me. I can’t read your mind and know what you enjoyed making but that was just the stuff I really saw a lot of passion in) It genuinely broke my heart seeing the situation your in and I hope your doing better. And Im aware that RUclips is more complicated than just having fun, with money and an actual livelihood attached to it but I want too tell you too have fun in every chance you get and if you enjoy making Nintendo content you should try transitioning to that. I definitely do care about your personality and not just about the fact that you make content about one of my favourite games. In fact, the only time a different RUclipsr reminded me of you, it wasn't a Hollow Knight content creator but rather because both his voice and personality really reminded me of you. (The person in question is Xeno content creator Leroy)
Also, what kept me interested in let's say the smash or pass videos for example compared to other videos of that mind isn't the fact that it was about HK characters but rather the amazing reactions you and Mofs had for so many of them. (I'll never forget her reaction to Grimm).

I think (hope) I speak for a lot of us when I say that I really like your style of content, and I think even if it doesn’t do well, doing other things would be really entertaining to watch.
It’s still fairly soon after your channel’s spike of popularity, (i know, a year seems like a long time but it’s still quite early) so I believe the algorithm is still getting used to you switching your content up. But if you keep trying, I think you can go places.
You shouldn’t be kept to doing one thing on your channel just because RUclips decided that for you. I genuinely think you can do a lot of different things and it will still be good content, so please keep trying.
hey miles, i just want to say that people do watch for you and your style. there are so many people who cover hollow knight one way or another and they‘ve just never hooked me on their stuff. when you played celeste, i was seated because that‘s a game i really like done by a youtuber i enjoy. i don‘t know how old you are but you sound very young and at no point in your life should you be forced into doing one trick forever, but least of all while you‘re young. i‘m not going to deny that youtube and it‘s algorythm are a beast, even from the perspective from someone just watching, it‘s not hard to tell. regardless of what you decide to do going foward, i hope you find joy and peace in it. you‘re going to remain as the ranking guy in the zeitgeist for at least a while still, and maybe that is how you break the hollow knight box, or maybe you‘re gonna be the guy that drew a dumb little hat on bowser, or the guy that figures out why on sunday, i got the one joycon in mario kart that had motion control and falling off rainbow road activated, whereas everyone else was in cheat mode so naturally i lost every round of mario kart because i kept falling off rainbow road because i held the remote slightly wrong and assist was off. (i‘m also terrible at mario kart but i was also trying to run with broken legs) i hope you find happiness in your content in the next year and for the last month and a half of this one because nobody should get depressed over video games.

It sounds to me like you want to make it less of a job and more of a hobby. Maybe just, make more content. No matter what game it is about. You will have at least a bunch of people (me included) watching the videos, plus you can start to grow a new non-hk fanbase. The videos will not do good at first, but i'm sure they will start to pick up steam eventually. I'm trying to make Hollow Knight content, and I just can't get a video that blows up, but you have become very succesful in the hk community, so i'm sure you can become succesful in other communities as well.

Not going to lie i came to this channel purely for hollow knight but i stuck around for your personality. I find it to be very much enjoyable end something special. I understand as one of your 'new' or fans i might not like a different style of content especially since i'm not a big nintendofan either at least to the bigger franchises like me mario and pokemon. But you cant keep suppressing your passion, time and time again it has proof to a lot of people that it will not work for the betterment of your channel. I at least will give a shot to a new reformed non holland night video. We can all agree that until silksong the content has dry up. Honestly, I wasn't expecting this video to feel that personal to me, I think probably not many people will see this and this is best this way. I am also kinda going through hard times rn mentally, feeling super depressed and having constent anxiety. I am still in my studies and they are going horribly, causing me to feel even worse. I've been in pretty much the exact same spot and actually decided to quit my study pretty early. I was extremely unhappy and saw no future with it and wanted to persue youtube for a while. Hope you will do well on your studies, no matter the choices you make
Man, please do whatever floats your boat. I remember that i actually found you over your celeste videos, and hearing that you stopped doing them because they didn't really perform is gut wrenching. Those videos got to me in a not so good time and gave me a solid 15 minutes of comfort. Glad to hear that you actually streamed it. I gegan to love hollow knight earlier this year and saw that you were also doing hollow knight content, which felt like a double win to me as a viewer. I really wish you the best man. If you want to shift your content do that please. I got nothing to do with nintendo so I won't watch it, but if that helps you having fun at what you do, that's much more important to me. Miles what makes your videoes so good is YOUR charismatic personality, humor and your quality of editing. If you continued to do, lets say hollow knight ranking vidoes, it would get boring pretty quickly, especially when you are not enjoying it. I promise you, that it is way better to do something you love, even if the succes will not show at first. I started only a tiny bit ago posting stuff and I also already have something similar to your bench ranking. But as a comment told me, do what you want, do what you enjoy, especially if it makes you feel better as a person making it. Of course i don’t fully get your situation since the scale and money stuff, but I still think that just making art that is more popular than the stuff you like is extremely unhealthy
A while ago I was also a twitter artist, and the art that were basically shit posts were the only ones that gained any attention. Obviously i double down it and after a few weeks I felt that I lost what made me love it. Don’t this mistake, even though it’s incredibly tempting and almost obviously the thing you have to do. That’s because, even though it’s hard to truly see it, the popularity of something doesn’t say if it’s good or not
Just try to make the stuff that you love, don’t continue “pleasing the fans”, you also have to please yourself

while i must confess that i did start watching your content primarily because of you making hollow knight videos, and as someone who is not invested in nintendo games i would most definitely choose a hollow knight video over a nintendo video, i stuck around and will continue doing so regardless of the type of content you make, because it was your personality that really gave charm to the videos you make, not the topic. i'm sure this is the case for a good chunk of us here.
As someone who got their gaming start with nintendo, having many amazing memories of breath of the wild, mario galaxy, and plenty of other titles, yet still having hollow knight as my favorite game, what you described as what you wanted your channel to be is exactly the kind of channel i want, good luck!
The reason why i come to this channel is for the incredible effort, passion, and time clearly visible in your videos, as well as the creativity you put into seemingly dull topics, thats why i love the interesting, longer videos (eg: smash or pass, gartic phone, bench ranking) not because of hollow knight, as long as you bring the same creativity and humor i will watch whatever, also please make more long videos.
You clearly have many friends in the youtube community, and some not in it, and your collaborations with them are some of my favorite things i have seen, the idea of seeing windette, mossbag, cc, reylea and others playing mario oddyssey multiplayer or other things like it sound incredible, i am incredibly excited to see what is in store.
I understand that i am in the vocal minority, although im not a die hard fan, i came to this channel for different reasons than most, and im not gonna lie and tell you that if you switch to breath of the wild content you will reach a million subs, but i do think its worth a try, attempt at least one video, but give it your all, do exactly what you want to do, and see how it works, who knows what may happen.

I remember in your Sly video you talking about Forgotten Land releasing soon! What did you think about that game anyway? I honestly prefer the traditional 2d Kirby games. Kirby Return to Dreamland on the Wii was what got me into video games in the first place (mostly because it’s local multiplayer was the GOAT and I was able to play with my lil’ bro. I also got Hollow Knight on switch and wouldn’t have know about it otherwise. In my opinion, make whatever you want! It doesn’t matter if it doesn’t get as much views as your Hollow Knight ones, as long as you have fun doing it. Otherwise what’s the point? I always feel bad for those rich people who are stick doing what they hate… or else. My point is, do what you love! I’ll watch your Nintendo videos. Maybe you can do rankings for different games because your so good at those. Whatever you decide to do, I wish you luck and will support you!

I think if you start transitioning to a more mixed route between hollow knight and Nintendo, you could get an even larger fan base to keep supporting you and keep things going in the algorithm over time. I can’t personally speak on if changing your content will work or not, but I feel like if you aren’t enjoying it, then you should try to branch out sooner rather than later. Plus Hollowknight is 1 game, and eventually you are going to run out of content to make. Making a new ranking video may be good in the short term, but because it’s an “objective” video, it furthers the idea that people watch you for the content and not you. Plus you will run out of things to rank/similar Hollowknight content with an audience that only cares about the benches video. Regardless of if it is good financially in the short term, I think you should branch out into other stuff because of both the financial long term and for you personally too. If you aren’t enjoying your job as a RUclipsr, there are tons of other regular jobs that make you much more money if you don’t care about enjoying your work. Also once Silksong comes out (doubtful), you can make a few videos on that still mixed with other content and hopefully introduce new people to your personality.
Just like the rest I had discovered your channel through a mainstream Hollow Knight video (the smash or pass list for this instance) but what kept me here within your channel was your personality, your commentary, editing, pacing and just overall the vibe of your videos. I continued to watch your videos afterwards even when I lost my passion and enjoyability for Hollow Knight just to keep watching you, not the game itself.
I would love to see what you oh so want to pursue with Nintendo affiliated content. While I'm not interested with Nintendo at all, I'd still remain here to watch it all just for the fact that youre the one producing this content. And well, managing to spark a new passion to someone for something else just because of them, might just be one the best things a content creator could ever achieve.

I've only seen the ranking videos and the enemy randomizer one, (I accidentally clicked on this one but it piqued my interest so I finished it) so i suppose I'm an average viewer of the channel. A lot of comments here say they will watch regardless, and I'm sure they will, but the people who actually watch this video (which I assume will be less than average) are the people who watch your videos for you and will watch any video, so it's not a very good measure of interest.
Anyway, from the videos I have seen, it seems like you bring enough to the table personality wise for people to stick around for other types of videos. I'd recommend making a nintendo video in a similar style to your hollow knight ones (like a ranking of all bosses in paper mario or something). It won't completely alienate your viewbase, but it'll also open the door for new viewers who are here for variety content.
I think an important thing to know in life is, when you don’t enjoy things, they will eventually get worse. Sure, if you do Nintendo videos now, you will get low views, but if you keep going pushing out non-hk, fans will come that aren’t hollow knight fans! So if you really enjoy Nintendo content, do it! Just do whatever makes you happy.

Also I feel like I should say this, I’m kinda tired of seeing hollow knight things everywhere, I enjoyed the game as much as the next person but when every other video I watch has hollow knight music (which I love but still) it just means it always comes back to hollow knight. It also annoys me how any handrawn indie metroidvanias are just called hk clones no matter how different/how much effort they have. And in a lot of cases it causes these small great games to not even be tried, they just get written off as a “cheap knockoff”, also paper Mario games are some of my favourites, I’d love to see you play them (the first one I played was colour splash, I got to the whole paper Mario game series a bit late). Also yoshi’s woolly world is by far the best Nintendo game (to me) so I’d love seeing you play it
You are very brave for making this video, being a RUclipsr is like being an artist imo so I get why you would want to keep your style and self in your content, not only fulfill the wishes of people that happen to follow you. That ain't no easy thing.
