Fixing And Reviewing Cheap Contixo Drones

  • I picked up three broken drones recently and decided to see if I could make any of them work. These are the Contixo F22, F24 Pro, and F30. I'd never heard of Contixo before, they seem to be a cheaper copy of some more popular consumer drones.
I was able to get the F22 to fly right away, it shows signs of being crashed but no major damage. The F24 flew after swapping some motor parts from my bin of spare drone junk, and the F30 nearly caught on fire. I'm pretty sure the F30 got wet at some point, it has signs of corrosion and is now shorted out completely.
As far as a review, the overall quality and features on these Contixo models are much worse than other drones I've tried. They aren't very stable to fly and don't have very good video. They also have terribly laggy live video, making flight beyond direct line of sight basically impossible.
While I probably wouldn't buy any of these new, having some mostly-functional cheap drones means I can do different things with them, like flying over water, in enclosed spaces, or in other situations where I wouldn't trust myself with a good drone. Maybe you'll see some (poor quality) videos from these drones in the future, if I don't crash them right away!
