If your DVD recorder has RF coaxial ports, yes. Connect a cable from the RF OUT/CABLE OUT on this box to the RF IN/CABLE IN on the DVD recorder. Then connect an RCA or a HDMI cable between the DVD recorder and the TV. Turn the units on and set to your TV to the input where the DVD is connected. Set the DVD to the CHANNEL 3 or 4 (where your Comcast box outputs). You can only record on DVD what channel your box is set to (there is no way to timer-record different cable channels or to record and watch different channels at the same time). If your DVD recorder is tunerLESS (no RF coax port), you cannot do recording from this box as it has no composite RCA output (you actually can by using an old VCR in between as an RF demodulator/tuner). Please note that if you also have a direct HDMI connection from the Comcast box to the TV you may need to leave the TV on while you record something to DVD to avoid the error “your TV does not support HDCP” on the recording.

Is the network connection an input or output? I was thinking of hooking up my old pioneer elite sc-25 and it has a hard wired network input to connect it to the internet. If it's an output then I can connect it directly through the cable box.

I think I have the same Samsung 4k TV that you have... have you experienced any picture flickering when streaming on Amazon Prime Video or in general??
I just decided to go and get a DVR finally cause just the fact of rewinding is actually pretty cool. This might be a silly question but I recently purchased and xbox one x and downloaded takes alot of space to were I actually went over comcast 1tb limit and I have actually never ever downloaded anything over 32gigs and that would be cause my samsung s7 edge is only 32gigs.Okay here goes the possible silly question if I record through this DVR that's in your RUclips video that is the same one comcast gave me does that mean Xfinity comcast say these recordings I record are actually downloads and not considered recordings on this DVR?
If you have Xfinity as well, you might keep some of them that are backed up on your Cloud DVR (automatically done) but yes, you would lose most of them. This is one reason I haven't replaced my main X1 DVR box we got back in 2015 because we'd lose them all. Trying to back them up using an Elgato Game Capture Card (originally bought for recording PS3 and other video gameplay) takes a long time. I wish something like the HDHomeRun Prime 6 was out, then I'd just get a cablecard from Xfinity and back up my recording using that (and using Channels DVR that I set up with Emby).

You can't X1 DVR actually uses the cloud the device only keeps a local copy in order to make it faster. No matter how many hard drives you ad the cloud still has a limit
Comcast does not allow you to add extrernal drives to their X1 boxes. If you want additional storage you need to ask to rent additional DVR boxes which will cost $20/mo per box. Also depends on what region you have service in. Some regions may not allow you to rent additional DVRs. Some areas may have a limit to how many DVRs you can rent. Also some areas may limit you to only one of these 4K capable DVRs. Either way the point still stands that the option to add external storage to any X1 DVR is disabled by Comcast.

Hey what realy does this enhance?.. it doesn't make your local cable in 4k so what realy does it enhance?
Does any know if this can be mounted to the wall. Will an additional bracket be needed or are there any screw holes underneath to preform this,
Whats the best router to use for gaming since i have Comcast (Xfinity) and currently use their router. However, im not sure if its the internet or router that's causing issues. I pay for 200 mbps download, so thats good enough to play online with. I have problems with lag a good bit and i constsntly find myself unplugging the router for a bit to restart the internet. Please help.
Please click the Flex local TV programming, is it available? for local news channels, NBC, CBS, etc, etc
So the HD comcast box I was able to watch Netflix without an Ethernet connection and doing it that way it wouldn't eat me internet usage data. Is it only if I watch 4k Netflix I will need to use the Ethernet and use up my data with the 4K box, or will it use up my usage data on Normal HD too with the 4k BOX?
Watching Netflix on the box without ethernet still uses your data
Don't you still have to purchase 4k netflix? It's not like the box is gonna upscale your non 4k apps
Any 4K Output will upscale any source resolution .
Does the 4k box have dvr
Yes , it does .
Is the network connection an input or output? I was thinking of hooking up my old pioneer elite sc-25 and it has a hard wired network input to connect it to the internet. If it's an output then I can connect it directly through the cable box.
Ethernet port does absolutely nothing, maybe put there for a future use? These boxes are designed to connect to the Xfi modem. There is also a cable modem built in to the box in case you don’t have the Xfi modem but d CD an only be used for the box itself
How do you hook up a surround sound system for sound without a Dolby digital sound out?
your surround system has to be hooked up to your tv and set your surround system on cable tv, come on now think about it.
Is there an AUDIO OUT feature for use with TV Ears???
Yes, but only with Bluetooth, not with an audio jack
Isn’t this their streaming box? Why do you have to plug coax in?
What are the details of the TV you used (Samsung)?
RUclips on this box is not in 4k yet & Netflix is not HDR on this box.
Wayne_Perry I just got this box last night and confirm HDR pops up on my screen when watching Netflix
You have to remember to explain that there is a $7.50 charge per month with this 4K cable box. The regular X1 is free with your service. The 4K box isn't.
It's well worth the extra 7.50
I think I have the same Samsung 4k TV that you have... have you experienced any picture flickering when streaming on Amazon Prime Video or in general??
How do you set up ethernet for this box ?
If I change/upgrade my DVR will I loose all of my scheduled recordings? Thanks
I wish something like the HDHomeRun Prime 6 was out, then I'd just get a cablecard from Xfinity and back up my recording using that (and using Channels DVR that I set up with Emby).
damn when is time warner/spectrum gonna get 4k??? for us on the east coast
Matthew Sharp Comcast’s headquarters is in pa 😂 if anything Comcast owns the east coast
As a Comcast tech 4K is one of the plus the best part. Secondly this box is for the future not the now
Box looks cheap. I want my clock back
Tamicheal Brown-king thanks for being honest about this. I currently have 1gig internet and a TiVo 4K box; whisk I use to stream my 4K content. I’m gonna hold off on getting this Comcast box until things improve.
Just forward to 7 minutes .
I wish I had seen this comment in the beginning. Smh
Thank you 😂
@@Sashka747 You're welcome
Is the hdmi a 2.0 or 1.4 high speed?
Need a video on how to Access the USB
i MISS THE TIME DISPLAY THE OLD BOX HAD.
MrNaxman yeah you can buy one on ebay or you now buy a clock
HDMI input is disabled on all their boxes why ? Because Comcast is idiots and don’t wanna worry about the tech support for it .
Are not is
We. Have that box here in Canada with Shaw Cable
You should do a tear down of one of these.
Once this box is installed, what about my other boxes at 2 additional TV's that are also 4k compatible? Will I be able to view 4k on those TV's as well?
Is there a smaller one for a bedroom?
I’d like to know this also as I have a Sony 900E in the bedroom I’d like to use this with.
I work for comcast and we don't have that yet but it's something that we are working on. This 4k box is not aviable everywhere yet so once we do that we will work on putting out the companion boxes
Ryan Cook thank you for the info. Is there a timetable yet or no?
Is it free to exchange it? No extra monthly cost?
This is so dumb. The hook up to what part of the television itself!!! What good is this?
It's obvious you don't know what you are talking about, you do not need the ethernet cable for 4k all programing comes in through the coax in and out through your HDMI cable, also the cable in does NOT come from your modem.
So, is it true as he said in the video about adding an external hard drive for more storage?
@@kingchakazulu7762 slow as in what?
@@kingchakazulu7762 I already found out the answer to that, which is a legitimate question, if your not gonna be post something to be helpful then don't bother be a smart ass!!
Xfinity tells me you can't. So which one is it??
Hello, do you know if I have to plug in the coaxial cable from the box into the modem, or can I plug in the coaxial cable from the box into a splitter?
Wow......no audio out. So much for simple systems. Hopefully your TV has a high quality optical out if you don't want to use an receiver.
Great video! Thanks
What type of hdmi cable I need for 4k hdr?
kebo mora just a regular HDMI cable. Don't believe the hype.
You actually need a different hdmi.
Y. Jackie Smiles what type of hdmi... 2.0, 2.0a,b
Rocketfish™ - 4' 4K Ultra HD In-Wall HDMI Cable - Black
Thanx for info just picked mine up
There is no way to hook up my surround sound with this box!
Well you started off on 720 of course it will look better. I bet your just seeing 1080p . To me it looks 1080p
does this work just like the coaxial version? in other words, can you pause and rewind and fast forward? also is there a delay compared to the coaxial version. i have a roku box that streams the app. it is nice but you cant really channel surf and the lack of dvr functionality kind of stinks. also my friends would text me something that happened during a sports even and two minutes later it would happen with the roku
ya your you are very color blind it's not a pink circle it's a red circle
Thank you for this video👍🏽
Is it Wifi?
My box got to Name Your Device then just broke. it froze, now when I restart I get a black screen of nothingness.
my box lost the name on the tv inputs so I have to relabel again
