Great video. My son is finishing his MSc in American History at the University of Edinburgh, as I type this. We got to visit in April. Edinburgh is a beautiful city and I know you really enjoyed living there!
Great video! I just got into Edinburgh as an American student and I know you said you wanted to stay in Scotland post-college, is that something that is possible if you’re an international student? Worried I will fall in love and have to leave lol 😅
I agree with the comments below! I’m learning more about the process as I go, but from what I know, if your heart is set on it and you have the means then it shouldn’t be too bad. Just working visas, etc. will be needed
HEYYYYY THIS WAS SO INSIGHTFUL ! THANKS ! I am planning for Sept 21' for MSc Intermediality: Lit, Film and Arts in Dialogue. Do you have any information about how difficult it is to get in the course? Is it really good as what it says to be? I think it's new! Love this video btw! xxx
Hi! I’m really glad you enjoyed the video! Sadly I don’t have too much information on specific degrees other than the courses I’ve taken, so I’m really sorry that I can’t help you with that specifically. Though, Facebook has a lot of different groups for different degrees at the university and you could reach out to someone from the course you want to do and ask them some questions.
@@eloidevilbrun hey there! I also had Bristol, Durham, Lancaster in my list. Edinburgh is my first choice actually, just waiting for updates on the scholarship situation. What about you?
Hi Neha I loved your video that information and the way you talked about it was amazing and helpful a lot, was thinking to apply to Edinburgh university and this video help me a lot thanks! Can you have a vlog in your next video and show the uni and thanks again for the video💞
Hey Neha, that was a really good video. Thanks for putting this together. I'm from India and still wondering if going abroad is a good idea given covid cases are still on the rise. Obviously, I don't want to spend all the time inside my dorm room but since the university website says for the session beginning in September, it'll be a combination of classroom and online teaching I am considering accepting the offer. What's your take on uni life in covid times? (I'm assuming you're still studying there and might have something to say on this topic)
Hi! I spent this past year in Edinburgh even though it was all online and I had a wonderful time. Though, I already had my friends from when everything was normal in first year and so I had a lot of company already. Furthermore, I’m not sure if it was the most financially worth it (as I had to pay for the apartment and all when I could have stayed at home), but I was still very happy. The UK is beginning to open up and so it should hopefully return to normal next year. I’d say it’s just about weighing the pros and cons, and if you have the means then it’s definitely worth it!
How to pay 10700 GBP with a credit card for medical school as this needs a huge credit limit for one credit card. How to pay these deposits for coming in September 2022. Is there a way to deposit this fee with multiple credit card deposits? How you have achieved this Neha, please help.
Hi! I’m so sorry it took so long to get back to you. I had about a 3.9-4.0GPA in HS and was predicted a 39/45 in the IB. In all honesty, these things are sometimes a shot in the dark - I know people with higher stats who were denied. It’s always worth it to apply if your heart is set on it.
Hey hii could please help me through the application procedures it's so hectic. If you help me it would be a quite stupendous act for me from your side thanks.
Hi! Application process is quite simple! The main portal for applications is UCAS. You have to write one application essay and with that, you can apply to five UK universities. I would suggest going to UCAS and looking at what requirements you need to apply and which courses to apply to!
Hey!! Thank you for this video, it helped a lot. I was just wondering if you have any tips on financing the fees. I just got an unconditional but since Brexit the fees are soooo high :(
Hi! Thank you so much I’m so glad you enjoyed it! I stayed in Unite Bridge House this year and I think as far as first year accoms go, it was good. It was cheap, bigger bed and great location!!
Hi! I totally agree. University abroad can be a really daunting expense and I completely get where you’re coming from. Fees here depend on where you come from, so fees are different if you’re EU, Scottish or International - fees are significantly more expensive for international. Sadly, the university itself doesn’t give financial aid unless you’re Scottish, but there are many external student loan companies that you could look into.
Did you have to get a student visa? Also how was adjusting to the accents? I have a British dad and family and it takes a while adjusting to their accents!
I live in Scotland but am not Scottish myself. Although the Scottish accent can be quite difficult at first due to different vowel and consonant sounds, as well as the different terms used, like aye, hen etc the Edinburgh accent isn't the hardest to get to grips with. I have attached a video which is narrated by an Edinburgh man about the city that should help. There is a You Tuber called Shaun who has hundreds of posts available. I have attached one of his vlogs as well which I hope will help. ruclips.net/video/PSwItM6ojYI/видео.html ruclips.net/video/HhedwtmacUo/видео.html
Hi! Yes I did have to get a student visa - I’m currently on a Tier 4 (General) student visa. Also, adjusting to accents is always hard but Scottish people were always incredibly kind in repeating themselves if I didn’t understand - and eventually you get used to it!

Hello Neha, hope you are doing good! Thanks for making a detailed video. I had a question as to comparison between Queens Mary and Edinburgh. I believe you must have researched on both, which one do you think is better? I will be applying for my Master in Law and have never been to the UK. Thanking you again for the insightful video.
Hi! In all honesty, I didn’t research Queens Mary university at all. Since I’m from America, I didn’t know a lot about the UK colleges and only applied to large, more well known universities that I had previously heard about. I only came to know about Queens Mary when I actually arrived to Edinburgh
Hi! Thank you for your video, it was so helpful. I want to study Law and international relations at the Uni of Edinburgh too. Do you think this degree is difficult for a non-English speaker? :)
Hi! I’m so glad you enjoyed the video. If I’m honest, it’s just a tough degree in general. But, that is not me trying to discourage you at all. Whether or not you find it challenging would just be based on your experiences relating to English teaching, etc. With the number of international students at the school, there are definitely other people in the same boat as you so I wouldn’t be discouraged!
how was the application process? what are the requirements and is it hard to get accepted into? are there known scholarships i can apply for so i can afford the uni?
hi! in my opinion the application process was quite simple, at least compared to the US application process. It only consists of a 600 word personal statement and it gets sent to 5 universities. The requirements vary based on your location and your school system - for example my requirements as someone from an IB school, would be different than for someone from an AP system. All the info will be on UCAS or the Edi undergrad website. And yes! there are many EXTERNAL student loan companies that can help you afford university, you just have to apply :) hope that helps!

Thanks for this information! Do you have any info on Scholarships for International Students? Also if you can share how much did you pay for the accommodation?
Hi! I think I replied to someone else about financial aid available. I don’t know too much about the topic I’m really sorry. For accommodation, I stayed in a non-en-suite, self-catered housing and I payed around £5100 pounds for the whole year all-inclusive. I can definitely say that this was on the cheaper end of university accommodations available.

Hi! I’m so glad you liked the video ❤️ while I would love to do a video with tips about the PS, as I said in the video, applying to the UK was really an afterthought for me so I didn’t research too much about the PS. Which is why I don’t think I would be the best person to speak on it sadly because I don’t want to give misinformation. But, I know that in my essay I structured it like 1) why I am applying to this degree/what specifically peaked my interest in the subject 2) what skills in my high school classes have equipped me for this degree 3) extra reading I’ve done on this topic that I liked 4) experience in this field such as extracurriculars/internships and the skills I picked up from them 5) why this degree would help me for my future. Overall, the PS is very academic and so connect your degree to the skills you’ve learned from classes/internships and it’ll be great! Good luck for the application, and please let me know with any more questions!
I want to study for an LLB Law degree at Edinburgh as a dual citizen of both the United States and the United Kingdom. From your experience with the degree, do you believe that I would benefit from a Scottish Law degree from Edinburgh over a Law degree in the England or a Law degree in the United States?
Hi! So honestly I didn’t know much about the process before I started at Edi and I made the mistake of thinking that the whole of UK is one legal system. If you plan to work in Scotland then studying there would make more sense. I’m planning on working in England after so I can’t say that a Scottish degree entirely helped me in this process as I will have to take a year to get my GDL in order to start in England. That being said, I’m still very happy with my decision as Edinburgh is the perfect place to me for university. Overall, it’s fairly easy to move between Scotland and England if you change your mind after uni (will take an extra year). But if you know in advance where you want to practice then go to uni there. Also, the US is a completely different system and will take more time to transfer to.
Did you stay in the UK after graduation? I saw comments saying that's something you wanted to do, and it's my plan as well. I was just wondering if you have any info on that!
Hii.. I've got accepted from Edinburgh for September intake.. Msc comp sci... I am confused because there is no placement assistance and fees is too high.. What should I do? Should I consider uni of Edinburgh or Brunel university will also be fine? Please reply
Hey! So instead of going to the Edinburgh website, you should go to the UCAS website. All the applications are done through there and all the requirements for the application are listed on the UCAS website. There is a UCAS reference necessary so one letter of recommendation I believe
Hello neha.i am from India. Can you tell me if there is any Scholarship? There in Edinburgh m Do reply...... I won't be able to study through my money.hope there is any system to pursue PhD there?
Hi! I think there is a scholarship system for international students. www.ed.ac.uk/student-funding/postgraduate/international you can find more info on this website
what accolades did you have for applying? Does Edinburgh expect significantly higher test scores than their minimum entry requirement is listed at? For example, if I have three 5's in AP classes, thus meeting the entry requirement for AAA, would Edinburgh still expect more from me?
Hi! So UK unis in general just care more about the grades than anything else, whereas US unis care about a holistic approach. I was very active in my high school and did lots of extracurriculars -ie. service clubs, student government (both because I enjoyed it and also because I was applying to the US and that is kind of necessary). I wouldn’t say they would expect more from you, but of course if you do have then it does look good. Keep in mind, if you do want to add extracurriculars and accolades, then make there they are specific to skills in your degree because that’s what they care about the most. Also, UK universities also like it if you have some sort of experience or internship in the degree you’re applying to. I didn’t do an internship, but I just substituted that “experience” section with the extracurriculars I did. Hope that helps!
Contact the office for the specific major you’re interested in! Admissions offices can give you specific requirement lists based on the majors you are looking at. I did this for Leeds, Birmingham, Manchester, and a couple other unis before applying, and it was super helpful when trying to figure out which unis I would be able to realistically apply to.
Hi, I was looking at the entry requirements for US students, and I think it said we needed at least one year of US college with a 3.0 or 4.0 gpa, is this true? Bc i was looking at colleges in the UK for the reason about specialized study, and I was wondering if this was required and I cant go to Edinburgh right after high school?
Hi! Just got an unconditional offer (meaning I made it onto my course with no score requirements for my senior year) as a senior in a US high school. You definitely don’t need to go to a college in the US.
You were probably looking at it if you wanted to transfer er from a different college: use this link www.ed.ac.uk/studying/international/country/americas/united-states-of-america
@@bobsvagana2255 Hi! I know you probably won’t see this. I’m applying this fall and i’m super worried about my chance of getting in for History undergrad (i’m currently in 11th grade) My stats are 3 APs 554 and 29 ACT? Do you think that will be enough?
Hi!! I'm from New Jersey and I'm looking at schools in the UK but mainly England. Since this is in Scotland is it difficult to adapt to the language barrier and new culture?
Hi! Hope you enjoyed the video. As I sort of mentioned in the video, adjusting to the city and the new culture wasn’t hard at all for me. Because of the number of international students, and particularly Americans at the uni, I always felt comfortable and surrounded by people I could relate to. So, it didn’t necessarily feel like a whole new culture I had to adjust to. I would personally suggest looking into UK universities that have the specific characteristics of US unis, such as a campus and high amount of international kids. This will help you feel more comfortable adjusting to a new environment.

Hi Neha, glad you are enjoying Edinburgh. Could you mention that there are another two universities in Edinburgh and maybe point out Glasgow, Stirling and St Andrews in the Central Belt. I know you haven't attended them but it is worth raising the profile of these institutions. I have to say as vlogers go yours is probably the best narrated and produced I have seen on this subject. Keep up the good work and can I suggest a hairband to keep it out of your eyes? This is probably jealousy on my part as I have very little left.

I'm not sure if you've looked into this, but are the pathways for visas for working within the UK after graduating straightforward?
I want admission in PHD Archaeology in Edinburgh, how to do got admission in Edinburgh?
Did you stay in the UK after graduation? I saw comments saying that's something you wanted to do, and it's my plan as well. I was just wondering if you have any info on that!
I’m planning on going to england after graduation! I will hopefully make a video about that soon!
can you share the admission process and your stats please 🥺
Hii.. I've got accepted from Edinburgh for September intake.. Msc comp sci... I am confused because there is no placement assistance and fees is too high.. What should I do? Should I consider uni of Edinburgh or Brunel university will also be fine? Please reply
What did u do it's been 2 years
Hi, I was wondering if Edinburgh requires letters of rec? I know U.S. schools do, but couldn’t find that information of their website.
Hey! So instead of going to the Edinburgh website, you should go to the UCAS website. All the applications are done through there and all the requirements for the application are listed on the UCAS website. There is a UCAS reference necessary so one letter of recommendation I believe
Do the English kids count as international?
Hello neha.i am from India.
Can you tell me if there is any Scholarship? There in Edinburgh m Do reply......
I won't be able to study through my money.hope there is any system to pursue PhD there?
Hi! I think there is a scholarship system for international students. www.ed.ac.uk/student-funding/postgraduate/international you can find more info on this website
how do you know if your degree will be accepted in the US
I just have to follow the same process as anyone else with an undergrad degree in the US - take the LSAT and apply to law schools!
What where the requirments for application? Thanks in advance
what was the name of ur accomadation?
what accolades did you have for applying?
@@nehabhandari7750 good information ty!!!
Where did you hear that from?
Hi! I don’t think this is true at all. I’m not sure where you found this information but many of my friends came straight from a US highschool
Hi dear.. hope you're doing well.. am planning to get in to Edinburgh for doing MBA.. How it would be?
neha do i need to give all eng proficiency tests mentioned in website?
Hey di i want to apply abroad (u.k) and im giving sat exam ,what score is required for University in uk (sat score)
Are you still in Edinburgh ?
What Language barrier are you even implying since the entire UK speaks English with different dialects and accents.
Hi Niki I have just posted this reply to another questioner above, so I have copied and pasted it here. Hope it helps!
I have attached one of his vlogs as well which I hope will help.

i've done with 12th from CBSE board with 83.8% from India. so am i eligible to study undergrad law at university of Edinburgh ? could you help me out with it ?
I think you kinda have to get more than 85% but there are other good unis u can apply to.
could you do a stats video pls!!
Hi! Someone else in the comments also asked about stats and I wrote mine down there. I might make a larger video sometime soon though!
Hey, I’m also planning to study law at UOE and I was wondering whether u would stay and become a lawyer in Scotland or go somewhere else?
Hi!! I think I’m planning on going to England after I graduate! It’s a slightly different process and will take more work on my part which is really annoying because I didn’t know any of the processes before I applied
