That came up on my subtitles. I’ve been to Edinburgh 12 times because my folks are from Scotland and my mom’s family is from Edinburgh. They were married there and my dad graduated from Edinburgh University. I have had a long career in mental health, half of it in emergency outreach so I’m fairly good at recognizing psychopaths, and it’s a safe city center compared to major US cities.
@@tengo257 Definitely, I couldn't afford it without funding. But I also liked the fact that KCL is in London, its prestige, etc. I'm now nearing the end of my PhD and I'm going to miss it all...
This is an excellent overview of a variety of aspects that sell both the university and Edinburgh. My father and my cousin are graduates of this excellent university. Missing from this video is that the Scottish have an excellent sense of humor. On that line, watching the video here in the States, my subtitles were on and when they were talking about the excellent cycle paths, it came up as psychopaths! If that came up for somebody else, dinnae worry, I found exploring around Edinburgh to be very safe. It is also a world renowned university as I am constantly reminded by my father.

Great video, I am getting the idea I am getting to know the city a litle, although I've never been in Scotland. I really hope I am allowed to study in Edinburgh in two years!
I'm 17 and I'm Irish and think of coming here or Glasgow. I'm also very passionate about bodybuilding and the sport of bodybuilding as a whole. Please tell me more about the gym because that will be one of the deciding factors between here and Glasgow
+Alex Nevin I know Edinburgh has a great sports centre (one of the best in Europe) and has an Olympic Weightlifting Society but not sure about bodybuilding. I was in a similar situation to you. Be aware it is deceptively difficult to get into this university. I was rejected from Edinburgh BSc Biological Sciences yesterday despite being predicted 625 and having a personal statement rife with relevant achievements and work experience that had got me offers at other more prestigious UK universities. Edinburgh was one I applied to just in case my exams went bad. Don't underestimate it, it's entry requirements are nowhere near what they actually want.
When I was in Edinburgh many years ago it was cold and rainy, which put a damper on the experience. One of the pictures I took in Edinburgh was of a card shop called 'Kick Ass'.
I'm American and I'm that's one of my thoughts for were I wanna go for college. And I'm actually part Scottish so it could be interesting to see my ethnic backgrounds

That's the problem with great universities - in that there is Way too much Sports emphasis. Now that Physical Exercise (P.E.) has been mandated - the money from students and outside influencing ruins the Sciences and higher educational studies. Most universities in the U.S. now rely on money from outside corporations to help in their budgets. But those corporations also enfluence more - Much More - than just advertising their products during sporting events - they're also setting up a Billion Dollar Business with collegiate sports that some flow to the university.
Stelio Kontos They don't focus on the quality of teaching. Staff and lecturer are not proactive. Their whole organisational structure and system is complicated, inefficient and not student-oriented. Just imagine a mediocre old engineer.
Junjie Zhang Thank you, and damn. I was hoping to come here., since it looks really good from these propaganda like videos. How about the night life mate?
ron smith Thanks for feedback. That ranking is the fancy suit they are in. Let alone the integrity of the ranking provider, the current fashion of ranking system is measured with low weight of student satisfaction rate (For QS there has no weight assigned at all) and high weight of reputation and staff/student rate etc, which are easy to get if they focus on the measurement when making decisions. With little effort to research you could find out the UoE student satisfaction rate is incredibly low, and this is true from what I see and feel. Students should care about the learning from the course content and culture within the city and the university, from my experience, they are SHOCKINGLY terrible.
