I was thinking the same thing 😀 but there's nothing wrong with that. Great playing and nice guitar. I have two surf green guitars. One is a tele that I made from scratch.
It could play several unique genres just by look and spec alone. Now it depends on who's playing and their technique/preference. You can play Metal on a semi hollow body that's for Jazz. Theres a crap ton you can do with this guitar and it depends on how you build your tone around it.
"I play a huge variety of music ", everything from Van Halen 1 to Van Halen 3 :) - reminds me of the Blues Brothers: "what kind of music do you play here?" "We have both kinds, country and western". Beautiful guitar, sounds great! Love your videos!
You don't even need a pedal to get the brown sound, if you use a pedal for any song but eruption, aint talkin bout love, unchained (songs that barely use effects in them) etc. you just turn the power amp up like crazy with moderate gain
Hey I love the guitar, love the demo, and I dig your sense of humor. I just have one request... would you mind playing some Van Halen in your next demo? Your choices have been good so far, but you’re neglecting a large number of viewers who just want to hear you let loose on a Van Halen riff or two. Please, don’t let us down! 🤣👍
I was so skeptical about making a custom Tom Delonge with this company because I knew nothing about it but this dudes attitude sold me! Going to be placing an order this week!!!
Have 2 Warmoth necks and they are fantastic. I don't have small hands and I do play aggressive and I find the SRV Strat neck superb. What a thing of beauty
Would love it if you guys did a front route Soloist for those looking to do more of a modern Strat. Or at the minimum a pickguard shaped for a Soloist. Have an idea for a guitar a lot like this and really wish those options existed!
I been using warmoth 35 years no problems ,,i built 3 guitars with there neck ,toured with them ,,flying all over the country with no problems ..getting ready to build some more..
Great episode of Tone Talk today, March 6, 2020. It clears up a lot of questions that recur on the FaceBook groups. I too have gone the route of a flame maple on basswood Floyd guitar based on the Holy Grail proclamation by John Suhr. In 2007, Brazilian rosewood was available for fingerboards, so that's what I got. Lately, I have using Sheptone Humbuckers with a 1978 Fender Strat pickup in the middle position.
It is always personally gratifying to play a guitar that you built with your own hands. You did a great job brother. Actually, I'd like to build one using Warmoth parts and that is because of you and your video. Hey free advertising for Warmoth. Why should they be negative about that. I bought parts from a competitor, won't do that again. God bless you brother.
Haha! I've been trying to figure out which songs I'll play (that I haven't already played) the next time I want to show such a wide variety of styles. Hmmm....not many left. Little Guitars, Atomic Punks, um...um.... I may have to break down and learn some of the songs off ADKOT!
Really enjoyed the Video again, Loved that Soloist, great workhorse guitar, all the details are spot on for a build that would be playable for a lifetime. Ordered my first Warmoth in '89!
....and I’ll be happy to support your “Build a Free Guitar a Month” campaign, but only if I get to build just one free one for myself. Won’t even be that exotic. Deal?
Great guitar! BTW I've used the DiMarzio Fred and PAF Pro. Great pups! I got my first PAF Pro around '87 and a Fred in '90 and loved them both as replacements in Kramers and Charvels I owned at the time. I still can't get the hang of a Floyd and how to set it up right so I use American Standard style double fulcrum trems or no trem at all. On my PRS the stock trem is great. That one's an Allender with the bat inlays and EMG 81/89 set which is great.
So there's something I've wondered... You have a 3 way switch that I haven't seen offered and changing the position of it is also something I wish was offered
FYI Warmoth will make you a custom pickguard for a good price. I had them make me a 3 humbucker two knob pickguard for a Strat. The pick guard is 3 ply black red black. Very cool.
Hey man, props on playing the intro to Unchained correctly. Everyone always plays it super straight and ignores all the little rhythm variants that Eddie throws in.
Looks great. Looking forward to more "variety" in the future. Hopefully with a new guitar each time! Loved the humor. If you guys ever have a builder's class let me know.
Aaron, I like to see you build a soloist body with the heel Contour and a 24 fret neck. And then play something to show how the Soloist with the Deeper horn contours and the heel Contour help you get way up on the neck. Also on a previous personal build you showed us a soloist body with a Gibson conversion scale neck. What is it you like about the Gibson conversion scale next? Is it the deeper tone? You prefer a Gibson scale rather than the fender scale tuned down a half step? Thanks. And more fun videos please. If you can't go to the office do some videos from home on your personal guitars, set up stats and why.
What a gorgeous dream guitar you have there! I've been playing around with the idea of a Surf Green Soloist with the same pickup colors, rings, and knobs, the only difference would be an ebony arcade neck and shark fin inlays. I think you pushed me further into pushing the order button...
That's a really nice guitar. I think Warmoth makes some really good stuff. I've been thinking of building my own. You are are a great player and it inspires me to try my own build. I've been mulling a design of my own over and over in my mind for years (like most players) and I think I'll get the body and neck from Warmoth. Thanks for making this video.
Will you guys ever make a truly contoured ergonomic all access style bolt on joint in the near future? I think if you guys went with a spoke wheel bottom of the neck truss rod adjustment, an all access bolt on joint would be very possible.
I wish there would be like one of these videos a month with a genuinely built piece by this guy. I would totally subscribe like and comment on those vids. Would it be only for the variety of riffs this guy plays! I mean between this guy and Phil X... you have everything guitars covered!
People are going to give you so much shit for playing more EVH tunes everytime after you say "more styles". Oh god this is hilarious :D Love it.
I can handle it. :)
@@warmoth Loved it ! Hahaha So great. its a beautiful guitar!
T'was a good meme
Hahaha what I came to say. Great guy and great vid
He knows one or two RATT songs!
Back for More and Round and Round I think for sure.
Please continue this EVH troll move. Best part of the video (the rest is great too!)
Man. That thing plays any style! (As long it's Van Halen) 😂😂😂😂
I though I heard some Joe Pass and the Jeff Beck stuff was awesome.
I was thinking the same thing 😀 but there's nothing wrong with that. Great playing and nice guitar. I have two surf green guitars. One is a tele that I made from scratch.

ikr it's like he was meming but i loved it, old school VH introduced me to guitar
Was thinking the same
"I play a huge variety of music ", everything from Van Halen 1 to Van Halen 3 :) - reminds me of the Blues Brothers: "what kind of music do you play here?" "We have both kinds, country and western". Beautiful guitar, sounds great! Love your videos!
GIVE AARON HIS GUITARS DAMNIT!
Yeah, just give him more guitars to demo and maybe, just maybe he'll run out of EVH riffs to play
He needs a complete set. One guitar themed after every Van Halen album.
I just wanted to say that I enjoyed the “wide variety” of music in this video. The guitar is pretty slick as well.
Also really appreciated the wide variety of styles that you played in this video! 👌🏽
Give Aaron the guitars, his tone is killer!
How the hell did you nearly nail the early EVH sound with just a pedal.
The MXR EVH OD is a great pedal. You should check it out.
You don't even need a pedal to get the brown sound, if you use a pedal for any song but eruption, aint talkin bout love, unchained (songs that barely use effects in them) etc. you just turn the power amp up like crazy with moderate gain
Just sounds like guitar with distortion to me...
I love this dude. Sincere...knowledgeable...humble and sarcastic.
Hey....who you calling humble, pal?
Enjoyed this brother! Great playing as always. Long live the pinch harmonic!!!
Warmoth need to have more options for knob placement. Wanting two knobs and not three always makes the tone placement a compromise.
Nailed the volume swells!
What a ham. Always puts a smile on my face😁
Very diverse playing. Impressed.
Man, you nailed that Unchained tone. Thats one of my favorite songs
I just came from your other video. I'm dyinnggg. So much variety it's incredible!!
We the public need more of these builds. Love the guitar. Looks and sounds great
D.O.A is my favorite Halen tune! Nobody breaks that riff out anymore!
You cover all the musical genres I need to hear to know Warmoth rocks!!
Nice demo Dude! Hey Warmoth, ask this guy to keep making demos, they are great!
I'm on my 6th Warmoth build in the past 30 years. Quality is better than ever. The last two necks, one in stock, the other special order were stellar.
Awesome, beautiful guitar...I bet that color with a satin finish would look great!🎸✨️
That is totally versatile. That’s the same range of musical styles I would ever play so we all good.
What a phenomenal player
Love the variety of music you played. 😂😂😂😂
Oh man that made me laugh! Loved hearing those riffs! I bet Aaron's contract with Warmoth states no brown M&Ms.
Every one of these licks was played in the key of sarcasm, and perfectly intonated I might add.
Made my day. :)
It's the funnest of all keys!!! ;)
I was so skeptical about making a custom Tom Delonge with this company because I knew nothing about it but this dudes attitude sold me! Going to be placing an order this week!!!
I loved the variety of tones he got out of this build.
Just pulled the trigger on a surf green strat, woo hoo!!! Thanks Aaron!
I love the versatility of this instrument. So many different styles.
Have 2 Warmoth necks and they are fantastic. I don't have small hands and I do play aggressive and I find the SRV Strat neck superb. What a thing of beauty
I love the variety. That’s something I can get behind. Nice reoccurring theme
Killer guitar! Love the huge variety of Eddie tunes bro!
That is nice. I'm always a sucker for double cream pickups. I also love how this whole video was a troll... Great content as usual!
Me too....love the double cream!
You can never go wrong with double cream. Never.
Double cream man, stop me when i'm passin' by, all flavors and push ups too

Wow!! Every time you played sounded like a different guitar player!! Wow!!!
That is the power of supreme versatility, my friend.
That's a great looking guitar!
It is always personally gratifying to play a guitar that you built with your own hands. You did a great job brother. Actually, I'd like to build one using Warmoth parts and that is because of you and your video. Hey free advertising for Warmoth. Why should they be negative about that. Not my favorite color, but you're playing is most excellent, especially your Van Halen licks are spot-on. God bless brother.
I love the more VH licks... please keep up the great work!
What makes it so sweet is the specific VH songs you chose...some of them raise the eyebrows and evoke a "Heeeeyyyyy!"
Haha! I've been trying to figure out which songs I'll play (that I haven't already played) the next time I want to show such a wide variety of styles. Hmmm....not many left. Little Guitars, Atomic Punks, um...um.... I may have to break down and learn some of the songs off ADKOT!
Dare you step out into Yankee Rose? Tobacco Road? Big Trouble? I'm sure you saw both acts after the split like I did...
Love this. Need to turn up the treble on the amp to make it really sing.
The versatility is astounding!
Your variety of styles are the best ever. 😊
I'd love to see more build videos !!!
Yes more monthly builds!!!!
Such variety!!! I love it!!!
Hang ‘em high sounded just like the record, my favorite Van Halen riff!!
Beautiful guitar!
This was a fun goof on everybody... "because I really do play a huge variety of stuff..." We love Aaron! lol-ing big time this a.m. Good job! Baaaaaa!
Really enjoyed the Video again, Loved that Soloist, great workhorse guitar, all the details are spot on for a build that would be playable for a lifetime. Ordered my first Warmoth in '89!
Love surf green and fiesta red
That would look even better with a matching headstock with the warmoth sticker on it.
Loving the colour, Myles! 👌🏽🤘🏽
Haha! But I prefer to be addressed as A Man Has No Name. ;)
Man, I love that guitar! I want to build one just like it!
Great build!
Klingt toll, und du spielst auch super👍
I LOVE IT! Very versatile!
Never really thought about the Soloist body Warhead neck combo, but it really works. I like the sound of the Fred, too. Might have to give one a try.
....and I’ll be happy to support your “Build a Free Guitar a Month” campaign, but only if I get to build just one free one for myself. Won’t even be that exotic. Deal?
Nice playing!
Wow, such versatility! ;) Great playing.
A nice guitar. Keep on doing that!
I only read one comment, going to stop there. Cool guitars, great options available. Just have fun!
Nice playing, and the guitar sounds good.
So now i know how to get the EVH tone , thanks man !!
Great guitar! BTW I've used the DiMarzio Fred and PAF Pro. Great pups! I got my first PAF Pro around '87 and a Fred in '90 and loved them both as replacements in Kramers and Charvels I owned at the time. Hey Aaron, great guitar! It sounds and looks killer! Thanks for all you guys do at Warmoth
So there's something I've wondered... You have a 3 way switch that I haven't seen offered and changing the position of it is also something I wish was offered
Very observant! The controls on this our VIP controls, but on the Soloist body. This is an off-menu option that you can get if you call in.
FYI Warmoth will make you a custom pickguard for a good price. I had them make me a 3 humbucker two knob pickguard for a Strat. The pick guard is 3 ply black red black. Very cool.
That's pretty close to my ideal guitar. I need to build one!!!!
Hey man, props on playing the intro to Unchained correctly. Everyone always plays it super straight and ignores all the little rhythm variants that Eddie throws in.
That is an awesome axe !!
Looks great. Looking forward to more "variety" in the future. Hopefully with a new guitar each time! Loved the humor. If you guys ever have a builder's class let me know.

Eddie van halen!! Sounds stellar buddy!
What a gorgeous dream guitar you have there! I've been playing around with the idea of a Surf Green Soloist with the same pickup colors, rings, and knobs, the only difference would be an ebony arcade neck and shark fin inlays. I think you pushed me further into pushing the order button...
Just bought a strat body from warmoth love it!
The versatility of this guitar is amazing everything from Van Halen to Van Halen 1984. & Let Aaron build a guitar a month when y'all get caught up
That Fred sounds badass
Dude... I love it! "I play a huge variety of styles!!!!!!" Have Halen tribute 101
I cannot wait to see y'all do something with blood wood for Bass and guitars also a video on the 5-string bass built
I would love to have a tele version of this with a maple wizard neck.
Aaron, Warmoth did good when they hired you my 480p friend. Great info and laughs.
Best guitar review ever - guys need to demo the volume control more to get a good idea how the guitar sounds. Now I really want a soloist! ;)
Surf green and cream is where it's at! 😜🤙
Nice looking guitar! That is a nice slab of rosewood on that fretboard. Nice and dark. Almost looks like Macassar ebony.
Well you know....working for Warmoth has it's benefits! ;)
Warmoth Guitar Products I guess so! Lucky dude. 😎👍🏻
Sweet build man!
That is beautiful......
Will you guys ever make a truly contoured ergonomic all access style bolt on joint in the near future? I think if you guys went with a spoke wheel bottom of the neck truss rod adjustment, an all access bolt on joint would be very possible.
Cool guitar
cool guitar
All VH all the time! My kinda variety!
Ps Warmoth let that man build guitars.
Wamorth - Aaron needs another guitar for diversity. Please allow him to make another one on the house.
I wish there would be like one of these videos a month with a genuinely built piece by this guy. I would totally subscribe like and comment on those vids. Would it be only for the variety of riffs this guy plays! I mean between this guy and Phil X... you have everything guitars covered!
Dude....I freakin love the super Strat...I could save like 8 bucks and get it with only one pick-up!!!!...rock on bro!!!
