This is so awesome. I am on the autism spectrum, disabled for the past 20 years after an amazing 25 year career. A very difficult adjustment for me! I just took apart my first 110 year old upright piano- which I volunteered to do after the owner, a good friend of mine, passed away and the family was unable to find anyone to take it. When they started talking sledgehammers I jumped in and offered to dismantle it to get it out of the house. I am 63yo (disabled) woman and I managed to do 90% of the work with no help. My husband helped me with the rest. It was a great learning experience. I was after the wood, almost all of which I salvaged, and now I am looking for ideas for repurposing it all in ways that will honor my friend.

Thank you so much for this awesome story! I’ve just started doing the same thing, (repurposing pianos), due to challenges associated with my son’s specials needs/ autism. Hoping the best for John! Cheers from the Mississippi Gulf Coast! 😎✌️

Love this. There are so many old pianos that no one wants. What a wonderful idea.

Awesome. God bless the man. Could have been worse, could have retained the ability to remember lame day to day info, mundane conversation details and crappy current events and forgot how to do woodworking lol - hope he's doing ok 😊 ❤
