I can really share your feelings about getting lost and scrambling for life. My brother and me got lost in the Olympic national park in 2014, no GPS only map. That was one of the scariest 8 hours of my life. We followed a trail that ended up leading nowhere and eventually turned into animal tracks. The Olympic is like a jungle, and full of extremely steep hillsides and deep gorges. We followed a stream and after many hours of scrambling we saw smoke. I was so relieved...

Ik ben inmiddels 64 en wandel heel graag. Ik ben totaal gemotiveerd om nog eens 10 kg af te vallen en de GR 20 een kans te geven. Nogmaals dank, en veel wandelplezier voor u gewenst!
Any Cuban Fiber Tent like your ZPacks Duplex tent is recommended to be rolled and folded. Yes, nylon or polyester tents are recommended to be just stuffed, but not Cuban Fiber/Dyneema Composite Fabric. ATB

Nice, I remember my hike on the nothern half back in August 2018, it was raining every day. That made it pretty spicy and sometimes quite dangerous, still one of the best hikes I've done so far
Hey! In terms of elevation, it's more or less the same, although the path is harder on the GR20. Where the TMB has a clear trail, the GR20 has you sometimes scrambling over bick rocks, or just climbing through a field of small, loose rocks.

Prachtig! Ziet er wel beetje crowded uit.. ik herinner me ooit een wandeling daar waar ik mega overvallen werd door onweer.. super scary maar gelukkig kon ik net op tijd afdalen en veilig in een hut schuilen maar ook deze gaat op de lijst.. na de Isle of Skye trail in april en Massiv in Noorwegen in september haha.. als ik je videos allemaal ga kijken krijg ik het nog druk ;-) Thx voor de video! (en leuk de muziek van Spinvis :-) Herkenbaar gevoel ook van de weg kwijt zijn (in de bergen), de paniek die opkomt en de ontlading als je toch weer de weg vind.. meermaals gebeurd en ik raak er nooit helemaal aan gewend.. mijn theoretische oplossing is nooit onnodige risico's nemen en wat je niet durft te dalen moet je ook niet stijgen maar met die wijsheid heb ik ook nog best wel eens flinke risico's genomen door toch gevaarlijke passages te nemen en dan vooral rustig proberen te blijven.. so far so good.. maar mooi en belangrijk moment om te zien!)

Thank you for this trip video! I would like to suggest wearing injinji toe socks and body glide on your feet so you will not have that pain again along with Leukotape to care for your blisters if they still happen. Keep up the wanderlust

Hey Kurt! Ik heb enkele maanden geleden een filmpje gemaakt waarin ik tips deel voor de GR20. Ik denk dat ik daar op al je vragen antwoord :). Er is normaal gezien altijd plaats op de boot voor 1 extra wandelaar.

Hey Allison! Sometimes I used stones to stake my tent out. It worked fine, but I never had any storms during the night. I took some powerbars, crackers, peanut butter/nutella for lunch :)!

Hi Paul! I use the Zpacks Duplex, but to be honest: a freestanding tent is a better pick for this trail as the ground can be quite hard and rocky, so sometimes I had to use stones to set up my tent because my stakes wouldn’t get into the ground. Thanks for watching! :)
Hey Kurt! De meeste mensen wandelen hem van noord naar zuid. Omdat ik niet in een stoet van wandelaars wou wandelen heb ik er dus voor gekozen om van zuid naar noord te wandelen!
Ziet er echt prachtig uit! Ik zit er nu ook over na te denken om de GR20 te lopen. Deze zomer heb ik ook de Kungsleden gelopen en was mij ook goed bevallen. Op die tocht had ik ook last van blaren, maar iemand gaf mij een gouden tip daarvoor. Liner socks! Dat zijn sokken die onder je normale wandel sokken zitten, maar het zorgt ervoor dat er geen wrijving komt, dus ook geen blaren. Misschien kan je er wat mee. Nog tips voor het lopen van de GR20?

Hey Valerie! Merci! Er zijn genoeg bronnen onderweg om dagelijks water bij te vullen, dus dat vulde ik tijdens de tocht zelf bij. Qua eten had ik telkens eten mee voor ongeveer 2 à 3 dagen: er zijn genoeg hutten onderweg die een klein winkeltje hebben :)!
Yes, gear list is on the 'to make'-list! Spoiler: boots worked fine but I got a lot of blisters because my feet got bigger in the hot weather. I advise boots that are definitely big enough (or trail runners with a good sole)!

@@floordenil Haven't been on either of them, but wanted to go on AV2 this year. They're touching a bit different areas but the main difference I see personally is that AV2 includes quite a bit of (easy) ferratas / climbing sections secured with ropes, whereas AV1 is pretty much all just walking. So generally a bit more demanding, but also definitely less crowded. :-)

Had je water en eten mee voor de ganse tocht of wat was je aanpak?
Hey Valerie! Merci! Er zijn genoeg bronnen onderweg om dagelijks water bij te vullen, dus dat vulde ik tijdens de tocht zelf bij. Qua eten had ik telkens eten mee voor ongeveer 2 à 3 dagen: er zijn genoeg hutten onderweg die een klein winkeltje hebben :)!

Yes, gear list is on the 'to make'-list! Spoiler: boots worked fine but I got a lot of blisters because my feet got bigger in the hot weather. I advise boots that are definitely big enough (or trail runners with a good sole)!

Is that one better than the Alta Via 1? I was thinking about hiking number 1, but if 2 is better, I might consider it! :)
@@floordenil Haven't been on either of them, but wanted to go on AV2 this year. They're touching a bit different areas but the main difference I see personally is that AV2 includes quite a bit of (easy) ferratas / climbing sections secured with ropes, whereas AV1 is pretty much all just walking. So generally a bit more demanding, but also definitely less crowded. :-)
