It was YOU behind these maps in the end??? Holy crap! I didn’t even realize. That’s so crazy…well, for better or worse I’m very happy to know it had been you. After all, weird maps is one of the best video series on RUclips imo.
Amazing video as always! Didnt even know you were behind those long 2fort and turbine maps. Its weird how you can interact with different aspects of someone's work and dont even suspect that they are made by the same person.
There was a certain pain watching you go over Long Turbine as Soldier. When other players aren’t around to throw a wrench in the works, covering that much ground is painful even as Scout, let alone anyone slower. Though, your extended maps aren’t the worst for that, you kinda made Long Turbine look reasonable, actually. Think the most agonizing map to walk through that I’ve played is OOT3D: having the whole OOT overworld ported to TF2 sounds awesome until you have to actually walk through it all.
13:58 I think that's the first time I've heard a song in 7/4 on a video. Is that a Final Fantasy song? I know at least one of the games had a composer who took inspiration from prog rock, namely Emerson, Lake & Palmer's _Tarkus_ , and this song sounds like it. Actually, the music selection in this video is probably one of my favorites. I've never heard any of these songs, but they itch my brain quite nicely. They also sound like video game music; what games are they from?
the long orange map feels so... i cant describe it but its adjacent to "creepy" the ambient music, the nonsensicalness, its just so... idk probably feels better with other players
I genuinely believe that whenever people say "TF2 is a wacky game", it's because they played in the time these maps came to exist. Also surprised you didn't mention the version of higher tower that stuck a second tower on top of the first. Still, these long maps defined a historical era for TF2, and that will forever be your accolade.
I didn't know that you were responsible for those maps either. I know you more from this. I'm sorry that I didn't recognize you from your work earlier, but I appreciate the videos talking about the subject. It's a very rare sight.
Faster Tower will always be the most hillarious one to me, you get close to the cart which zooms around way too fast to then take about an entire minute to dash up the whole elevator to then explode the entire map, it's quite funny.
wow who wouldve known this guy made these maps and your sentiment is so real never knew the guy who made them and never knew he made multiple of them i thought they were all just made by different random people
It should be noted; one of the people you inspired with these maps is InfernoPlus. He wound up making "Desert Hog" for Halo. Which itself is a recreation of Desert Bus on the Sega Saturn. The player bases are two hours apart, if I remember correctly. And that's if you don't get killed before you get there.
Miss these maps cant lie, feel like this is the peak during the 2017 to until now. A really important reason why i keep playing tf2 even after 2020 (and the youtube videos to)
I always always look forward to your source map videos 🖤 It's really a shame you didn't get more recognition for the stuff you made!! I definitely think in the modern landscape of "content", creators pick up and drop things so quick that there's little sense of community anymore. They see these things as fuel for the grinder instead of works of art in their own silly way. I guarantee you if someone made a vid of your map in 2009 there would be a download link and credit given in the description at the very least. Either way, I'm so thankful for what you do/have done. Your videos always feel so warm and nice. I hope to always look forward to the smile I get when I see a notification for a new vid from you:)
wow, i've been subbed for a while and had no clue you made these, i remember years ago watching the video ace the ocarina maker made on 2foooooooooooort
I wasn't focused when I read the notifications and thought you were a history channel, and that "Time map" is a thing, and I thought to myself "Wth is a time map??"
I haven't touched tf2 in years but was playing a lot during the time of these maps. those were some odd times. Also loved your history of different maps and had an idea to try to do the samething in a game I play now called VRChat but discovered it would be impossible due to having no experience in world creating myself and alot of the makers probably wouldn't want to talk about it. let alone having no idea how to edit a video
Yep, just like many others, I learned about these maps from Martin. Honestly, such maps just fit his silly nature quite well. Nowadays, by the way, Vorobey is one of those who now really likes to play on Highertower. Not exactly because of the map itself, more so because of the community who's playing on it (those who always climb the tower especially)
the thing about highertower is that it's best played on a x100 or x1000 server, that way you can play scout and get to the top in one jump, or play as heavy with gru or demoknight and get there much quicker, it's much harder to cap when they can just drop on you as the kart rises
It appears subtitles are broken on this video, I try to add my own, and it gets caught in a processing loop, apologies about that.

Damnnn.. i remember these.. and feel old seeing talked about them in an "old" fashion
I love the vibes from your videos, even when i'm not close to TF2 community, keep going
@@NoahtheEpicGuy lots of SNES music, mixed in with some copyright free tracks, that tune in particular is Chomber from Marathon
@@Whomobile I recognise Equinox - Atlena anywhere, or anything by the Follins.
Great taste!
I am Pyro. I became LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG
@pyrofromtf2 lolololololololol
holy hell
Pyro from tf2
The bridge on that 2 fort variant must have attracted Snipers like crazy.
the long orange map feels so... i cant describe it but its adjacent to "creepy"
the ambient music, the nonsensicalness, its just so... idk
probably feels better with other players
liminal
really cool. turbine looks better being longer, and I agree on it would be better having like 6 of the things
Wow, time really flew by-this trend certainly was something! That and those multiplier servers
The fingers at the screen’s edge with The Original are freaking me out.
The tension of climbing the orange tower with the train thirsting for blood lol
Nice mass effect music, I can immediately tell you know plenty about sci fi and have good taste
My continued survival relies entirely on seeing Weird Maps on my RUclips feed
You're kidding. You made these?!
I did, sorry
@Whomobile Don't be. You're a legend!
It's a (post) Christmas miracle! I missed these videos.
im glad you referenced long long man in the description
The ending was a nice little retrospective on your work :) but man the wacky maps era was 7 years ago huh….
I am more excited about another Whomobile upload than anything I got for Christmas
Love all your map videos.
watched a few vids from goldsec today, and a fresh upload. Life is good.
I didn't know that you were responsible for those maps either. I know you more from this. I'm sorry that I didn't recognize you from your work earlier, but I appreciate the videos talking about the subject. It's a very rare sight.
Quite the retrospective video. Glad you're here pal
Man hearing those classic songs at like 5:00 was such a blast from the past 😭
Faster Tower will always be the most hillarious one to me, you get close to the cart which zooms around way too fast to then take about an entire minute to dash up the whole elevator to then explode the entire map, it's quite funny.
wow who wouldve known this guy made these maps and your sentiment is so real never knew the guy who made them and never knew he made multiple of them i thought they were all just made by different random people
I used to play x100 on these maps, it was always super fun
It should be noted; one of the people you inspired with these maps is InfernoPlus. He wound up making "Desert Hog" for Halo. Which itself is a recreation of Desert Bus on the Sega Saturn. The player bases are two hours apart, if I remember correctly. And that's if you don't get killed before you get there.
neat
I hope to always look forward to the smile I get when I see a notification for a new vid from you:)
this is when i first started getting into tf2. thank you.
Yay!!!! Lets go!!! New whomobile video!!!! Long time coming!
I was just binging the playlist yesterday I love this series
I've been following you for a long time it seems. I didn't realize how old these maps and the videos I found you through were. 😅
0:11 The three other Impractical Jokers before sentencing Murr, who is under the impression he hasn't lost, to jump out of a plane.
0:05 Hello everyone in the ads! if you’re seeing this, you just started the video or an ad is playing. Have a good day!
wow, i've been subbed for a while and had no clue you made these, i remember years ago watching the video ace the ocarina maker made on 2foooooooooooort
ive been waiting for a weird maps video for a while now
I wasn't focused when I read the notifications and thought you were a history channel, and that "Time map" is a thing, and I thought to myself "Wth is a time map??"
You can never have enough trains.
Man, I remember when this trend started back in 2017. Good memories.
Long 2fort really missed the oportunity to be called 20fort
Maybe if someone makes a wide 2fort they can use the pun
Yep, just like many others, I learned about these maps from Martin. Honestly, such maps just fit his silly nature quite well. Nowadays, by the way, Vorobey is one of those who now really likes to play on Highertower. Not exactly because of the map itself, more so because of the community who's playing on it (those who always climb the tower especially)
Turrrrrrrrrrrrebine reminds me of playing a "bridge too narrow" in Conker: Live and Reloaded
thank you
the thing about highertower is that it's best played on a x100 or x1000 server, that way you can play scout and get to the top in one jump, or play as heavy with gru or demoknight and get there much quicker, it's much harder to cap when they can just drop on you as the kart rises
I remember when i've played your maps on 2018 for the first time with my friends. They were sooooooooooooooooooooooo gooooooooooooooooooooooood
"There's a spy that's doing the...kick-*dies*"
23:26 that is honestly not a bad SeriousMartin impression lmao
