The fate of humanity is in your hands! In this week’s Game the Game, host Becca Scott is joined by Josh Petersdorf, Anna Cecilia, & Katie Michels to play Pandemic by Z-man Games. In this co-op strategy game, our players strategize together to prevent outbreaks of infectious diseases that threaten the globe. Will they save the human race?!?!

They didn't replace the epidemic card, Her first draw was Epidemic and then she had her second draw
Researcher can also not be GIVEN any card. Researcher can only GIVE any city card to others

@@BenjaminEar 2:28 she explains researcher. If you read the card they show it says can give and others can take from YOUR hand. It does not say you can take from others ignoring city restrictions
Went to check the comments for rule mistakes. Was not disappointed.
Just picked this game up and we are loving it. The first round we won easily and I was kinda discouraged because I thought it would be harder, then we lost the second two rounds which was awesome!
No wonder how they have finished the game so early. The researcher cannot take a card from other players if the city they are staying does not match with it.
Otherwise, the researcher would be extreamly OP as we've seen in the video.
yeah they butchered a lot of this game
they missed quarantine removals, they didn't deal with epidemics right, they didn't deal with knowledge sharing right, they did extra actions, they missed disease phases
46:11 Funny how Becca does a rules clarification here, but it’s wrong. As other people have pointed out, the Researcher can only GIVE a player any card in any city. The Researcher still has to be in the matching city to TAKE a card from a player (in that same city).

@@alexmaddox3786 Actually no, he is talking about the Researcher taking a card, in the card shown at 2:25 it just talks about the Researcher giving a card, or another player taking a card.

You have to actually read the card. Researcher can give a card or other players can take a card from researcher without the normal "matching city" restriction. The researcher specialty ONLY affects cards moving from researcher to another player, it's just described in two different ways because the ability works no matter whose turn it is. Sharing cards TO the researcher follows the normal restrictions.
I'm doing a java project that uses multi- agent solution to ottomate the players strategy. I didn't know the game before my assignment so i had to familiarize myself with the rules. This video (and the one before that , that contains the rules ) really helped me to understand how the game works!!! Great video! :-)

I just recently started playing the game, and learning to get all the rules straight.
So I dont want do be a total douche.
But only the epidemiologist may take any city card from another player.
The researcher may do the complete opposite, giving any city card.
As a beginner, me and my friends made the same mistake an entire evening.

We are playing this game for real now with Covid-19.
Becca and Katie are like my last two brain cells just partying and goofing around.
Totally hate the fact that the only reason they "beat" this is because they didn't follow the rules. Totally different game when you do things the way you are supposed to.
not forgetting easiest mode aand choosing the character roles rather than them being random

Thing is i like Becca, but i miss Will. Even his guests felt more charismatic.
Table top just had a different feel.
@@zmajorps yeah, i rewatched TTs pandemic episode. Its all the little touches that just made it better like the editing and the little graphic additions. Plus they played on harder difficulty which is more entertaining
As much as i love the 10 anniversary edition, the minis didn't work quite well with the top view.
So I just bought this game as a Christmas gift. I am now debating on who to give it to that works to my advantage: particularly friend who regularly hosts and lives close to me 😂
just a little mistake, on the first turn you infected miami, but it's connected to atlanta and your quarantine specialist would have prevented that. and are you supposed to reshuffle the epidemics and put them back on top of the deck? i thought you were supposed to remove them. because if you drew epidemic on the first turn, you would keep drawing epidemic every turn for the rest of the game. and then after the first epidemic card, you forgot to infect 2 cities afterwards and went right to the next player's turn
You can't take any card, you can give or others can take from you! Read Becca!
Lol I was just going to say that, if you can give and take any cards then this game will be super easy
I never realized how good the camera cuts are.
At minute 24ish a after the epidemic card was drawn I think you were supposed to infect two cities from the infect pile.
Finally you play this game, my fav board game
You were making jokes about "randomly" getting the 4 best roles...but those aren't the 4 best roles. Not be a long shot. Opinions will vary, but in my opinion, the power 4 are Researcher, Medic, Dispatcher, and Operations specialist
around 23:30 - you forgot to infect cities (after the epidemic)
You can't arbitrarily give cards to the researcher, their ability is one way (from their hand, to other players)
Is there a role which allows you to set up research stations easier? I seem to recall a highly successful run with someone (whom I seem to recall was myself) running around setting up research stations as a portal network of sorts. Which made the Medic and Dispatcher's jobs much easier.

My dream team is Researcher, Scientist, Dispatcher, and Medic. When I solo play with 5 characters on the app, I add the Quarantine Specialist.

I also find it very culturally ironic that the majority of the epidemic outbreaks came from the quarentine expert. It is almost like she is fighting and educating on something she knows little about or trying to deal with a sickness is unknown and she is trying to educate but no one is listening
I just wish that they could go 2 games without catastrophically mesing up the rules of a game. Its kinda pathetic for a board game show. I miss Wil Wheaton.

@J B sometimes, but not nearly as much. and many times they caught the mistake shortly after and were able to fix it.
if you keep putting the epidemic cards back on top of the deck youre guaranteeing to draw it again, and only draw the same however many cities youve drawn or less before that happens.

They moved on to a paid promotion platform. So they only play games companies pay to be on it.
The title Game the Game sort of made me think that more strategy and tactics along with how the game would try to win, would be discussed. I like this. I enjoy the host and guests, but not quite what I expected.
The only thing I don’t like about this game is that it has so many rules that you sometimes forget to do things, but it’s nice to see that I’m not the only one who forgets…

The researcher card ability had been misinterpreted. She can give any city card. Other plays can take any city card. However the researcher can not take any city card.
Game looks fun but there was never a sense that the team was in danger of losing, possibly because of luck or wrongly interpreted rules.
Well they're playing on easy mode with only 3 epidemics. 5 or 6 epidemics is really difficult.

@@raypluswatpent6823 I usually play as the USA. So my strategy is generally, because early on in the game the USSR has the advantage, and the USA has one in the later game, is to play defensive. Keep your territories, advance the space race, keep the best cards, and if need be, you can sometimes be on the attack, but primarily, defend, and keep yourself in a good position, so when the late war comes, you can completely overload the USSR and win by a large margin.
If you’re the USSR, it’s the opposite. Rush everything, try to be as attacking as possible, with the hope that you can get enough VPs, so that even if you fail to win early on, you have enough so that by the end you’re still ahead.
@@anonymousshitposter1743 I play as the USSR a lot and my general strategy is to rush as well. I think that Africa and Southeast Asia are really hard for the Russians so I like to go South America and not dominate the space race but keep pace with the USA. The Middle East is also easy to get tokens in. I don’t know about you but on the deaf on track I find that it gives the advantage to the Russians the lower it is. Obviously you don’t want to get it to 1 but three or 4 is good.

It's my fault, I jinxed you. I mentioned in the How To Play video that I'd played the Researcher wrong for years, and then y'all go and make the same mistake. The Researcher's power only works when the card is going from the Researcher to another player - it does not work when the card is going from another player to the Researcher. Otherwise, the ability would be somewhat overpowered on turn 1.
All these scenarios happen at the beginning of the game, with everyone in Atlanta.
1> The Operation Specialist (OpSpec) starts with the Atlanta card. For one action, he can give it to any player or another player can take it from him.
2? The Researcher begins with the Osaka card. For one action, she can give it to any player or any player can take it from her.
3>The OpsSpec starts with the Osaka card. As much as he might like to pass it to the Researcher before he leaves Atlanta - say, so he can spend his 2nd card to travel to a city and build a research center using his own power, the better for other players to then move to the new center - that's not how the Researcher's power works.
RE" "randomly" getting the four best roles. As another poster said, there's debate there. Leaving the Dispatcher out? Not much debate about that, though. The ability to move players into the same city for 1 action is a tremendous asset, and the Medic\Dispatcher combo makes eradication more feasible. PERSONALLY I'd say Dispatcher, Researcher, Medic, and OpSpec with Quarantine juuuuust barely in 5th instead of 4th but, yeah, debate exists on this topic.
Dispatcher is my favorite role to play.
So I love this game and my friends figured out a strategy to break it. It was a great time. The strategy is VERY similar to this one except instead of Researcher, we used a Dispatcher
However, the problem with playing a game with so much popularity as this one is that if you do not announce any house rules prior to playing, there is going to be a lot of Rule Nazis in the comments.
It is kind of annoying, just enjoy the game.
True but changing or ignoring some rules makes the game a lot easier which may be ok the first time or two learning especially if your making an honest mistake but can also make the game a lot easier/less challenging and can lead to people getting bored with the game. One thing to agree with friends at your home but a lot of people like myself come here to get a better grip on the game so I actually welcome the comments cause I realized with my friends we were playing it incorrectly and I am glad for the corrections. Don’t feel like anyone was being disrespectful. If I was watch a poker video and someone won a hand with a straight while the other player lost even though they had a full house I’d hope someone would point that out.

Or put someone in charge of reading the rules Or at least in post instead of adding blindly the close up of cards without reading them (i.e. the researcher ability) add notes of ALL the error made.
They're a lot of mistakes made so not a really relatable source on learning the rules.

Yeah... I miss Wil. Watching him, and his friends play is extremely entertaining, and makes you wanna play. This... not so much... The charm is definitely lost here. What did happen to Wil? Does anyone know?
They sold Geek and Sundry off and the new owner went off the direction that they didn't care enough for, plus Wil got into dispute with them for royalty owned to him

not to be a downer or whatever but isn’t pandemic violating the geneva conventions by using the red cross emblem because it’s not public domain??
Melody S. The Geneva conventions do not apply to civilians in non wartime settings so...no. As for the Red Cross emblem not being public domain while that is correct it is up to the Red Cross organization to actually sue before the board game would have to remove it. It’s a lawsuit most people involved would find frivolous however so it’s not likely to be addressed.

The medic didn't go god mode after the blue is cured.
its kind of pointless as to win the game you just need to find the 4 cures. Effectively you can ignore (or at least give it the lowest priority) to eradicate cured diseases

Been playing it for years, once you get the game and have buddies you will have a blast too.
anyone else think they were a bit pathetic on this...they choose the easiest mode and also choose the "best" combination of characters/special powers...come on man up and tackle it in a harder mode at least
