Hear you pal. Our equivalent was a Renault 11 jammed full of indie bobs, drunken sleep over in car parks after the Ride gigs, going home and wanking over Rachel Slowdive who supported them
@@rjpaws Best days of my life mate. Met my wife in those days we would drive for hours listening to music, smoking, getting lost in the countryside. Alas she passed away young but I always have those memories when I return to this KEXP session for a head wobble. Wish I had made it to a ride gig was in my own band at the time gigging hard trying to make it never happened :).

Are you fucking kidding me with this? That performance of "Leave Them All Behind" at 27:00 or so is 8 minutes of perfection and these guys make it look like a walk in the park. This entire thing is gonna be on repeat for a while.

Still watching this a few years later. Loz puts on a motherfucken class here on how the drummer can push his band. He doesn’t take one bar off during this entire set, and especially during “Leave Them All Behind”. Goddam this is good shit.
There's an isolated version of Leave Them All Behind from this performance on RUclips. And I've just literally listened to it for a half dozen times or so before finding the rest of this!🤣Love me some loop if shit's opposite of poop!😝 I might have to multi-repeat Vapour Trail, I haven't heard that one in quite some time. Music to my ears 🎵🎶 I always loved the outro to that!

Worth going to see them live, just to watch/listen to Loz. Only gig I've ever been to, where everyone was talking about it as we came out.
A talented drummer is so often overlooked. Yet, becomes very noticeable when they're truly the backbone of the band! His drumming is definitely what I first think of when I think about Vapour Trail! 💯🎯 Though different in style/context to these songs--It's similar to the way I always associate John Bonham hammering the beats like a blacksmith on When The Levee Breaks or Phil Collins crushing it on Squonk! Keith Moon had the same impact for many Who songs, he was like a lead drummer live that Pete & Entwhistle had to keep up with!
when the first guitar chord of "Leave Them All Behind" hits and just decends into swirling feedback, that's shoegaze heaven

Leave Them All Behind is one of the best songs to come out of the 90’s, this is note perfect.

Shots were fired.
Ride's vocal harmonies are rarely mentioned. The choice of notes by both is beautiful. To me, that's what make Ride stand out (besides the drums, guitaring and bass).
The drummer is fantastic.
The SOUND of those guitars! Freakin' SUPERB, guys!

The song Weather Diaries is so fucking immense
The wavecrashing thing they do towards the end blew my mind the first time I heard it
Another massively underrated and talented group, still writing great songs. And still sound as good as they ever did. Not croaky voices or songs played an octave or two lower to compensate....as is so often the case. Thanks Ride, keep em coming please.

I was there at the beginning buying the 4 amazing EPs on vinyl I remember the excitement of getting them on the turntable fantastic

I bought the "Going Blank Again"LP when I was about 16 in 1994 and absolutely loved it, they're massively underrated, one of the best bands of the 90's
Same here! I was 17 then. First I had the cassette for Nowhere, then I got the CD for Going Blank Again (Leave Them All Behind). I would like to hear more of their old stuff live. But they still sound just as great!
Like good wine, they age beautifully.....and I still get the mother of all goosebumps on the intro of leave them all behind. WHAT A BAND
In high school we drove all the way up to Kansas City to see them and were not allowed in because we were too young. So.. we danced in the back alley way (the back door was open and we could hear them out there) the entire show. THey heard we were out there and at the end of the show, they ALL came out to meet us and hung out with us for a bit. We were elated! Strange to say.. we were dancing near somewhere, there was laundry being dried in a dryer and a couple weeks later, I picked up a fresh clean towel and it smelled exactly like that night out there dancing! Well.. I am old enough now boys! Come to Missouri and I am there!! Still fucking rocking it so gooood! Sebastien Kusberg: Are you on here! It's me Shane!! ha ha

I had the massive privilege of seeing them here as an Aussie living in Shanghai last week...revisiting the first time I heard Leave Them All Behind back age 18. And when they launched with Lannoy Point from Weather Diaries....wow wow wow...Thank you @Ride for coming to China !!!
