The media always wants something to whine about. Ik it’s kind of making fun of adopted children but Wheatley is a villain! The villain is SUPPOSED to say stuff like that!
It’s like the fact that this is the VILLAIN OF THE GAME is some sort of inconceivable concept to these casters and parents. Also, Glados, who at this point has started who semi redemption ark, asked “what’s wrong with being an orphan?” These type of people either have selective hearing, the inability to understand the concept of writers being separate from the characters they create, or both.
The main character, Chell, is an orphan and there is a running gag in the game that all the robots call her fat, it isn’t focused at the player, but at Chell.
> "friendly" character asks what's wrong with being adopted before > the person saying the line is the villain > even he realises some of his friends are adopted and that there's nothing wrong with it
Listen closely at that one woman at the end when she says that they were passing it over to Valve.... THEY WEREN'T PASSING ZILCH! THE "DESPERATE FOR A STORY" NEWS STATION CALLED THE WRONG NUMBER! VALVE MADE THE FRICKEN GAME! And they cut all the parts out about GlaDos protecting Chell. Because they are idiots, who REALLY wants views.
Educational. Game. Just no... It's a brain teaser if anything. Look, i'm not adopted, but when I first heard that he said it, I was shocked. But now that I think about it, I mean, I could see the purpose of the controversy, I don't think it was intentionally offensive. Besides, GLaDOS, my favorite character, states, "What's wrong with being adopted?" Why couldn't they shed more light on her statement. Besides, Wheatley apologizes and states, "I honestly wish I could take it all back." But you all were probably distracted by Core 1 yelling out, "SPACE."
Well, GLaDOS is far more insulting in the first half of the game...I mean, not only is she calling you "fat" and "adopted" but she was also comparing the player character to garbage. Despite, this, no one says a thing. It only becomes a "controversy" once Wheatley says it.
The weirdest part of this story is that this all revolved around a child who didn’t even care what Wheatley said, and was just trying to enjoy the game.
I find it funny that the problem wasn’t Wheatley telling chell to kill herself But was the adopted thing even though one of the characters even says *what’s wrong with being adopted*
Since tonight's topic was about people getting offended, I called a radio station tonight and told the host about this. He said he read the article. It opened up a new topic about "offensive" things in media. I have a friend who's adopted and she laughed her butt off at that joke!
These parents: "Instead of being matured and talking to my daughter to gain context for this scene of the game, I'm going to purposefully keep her in the dark because I'm insecure about being an adoptive parent."
I love how they keep out the fact that there was loads of adopted jokes, and then this one in which GLaDOS actually backs you up, they decide to completely and deliberately cut that out so everyone can have a hissy fit and try to make a point. It's not even rated E, it's E10+. They say they're aware of it, but instead of acknowledging it, 2 minutes later they say "this is a popular kids video game and it builds itself as educational and e for everyone" (which is a complete fabrication.) I hate it when the news just cover up things that make it ok, and they misinterpret things so they can convert the world into believing them and going against things that they took personally. That's the type of things that happen when you give Karens and people who can't take a small joke a lot of power.
GLaDOS literally said 'What is wrong with being adopted?' but they cut that out because all news stations want is to criticise rather than see the flip side
My dad is adopted. He never played the game but anything I showed of glados to him he thought was funny. My dad used to get picked on by his siblings that he was a fedex child but my dads mom used to tell him “I chose you, I couldn’t choose any of my other children.”
The moment Brigida said "we felt COMPARED to share", I lost all remaining acknowledgement of integrity of this. Can't even read a pre-written teleprompter right.
i'm not in any means defending this story... but... someone accidentally said something wrong... oh no... it's almost as if that's a common thing that regular humans do regularly...
At 1:26 you can just tell the woman reading the quote is so deluded and is reading that genuine criticism as if she was reading someone saying that the lizard people are taking over the world (she would probably believe that conspiracy)

They should have come in with the mindset that the original was rated T and was for a more mature audience.
so the parents gonna focus on the adoption line but not the line where weatley tells chell to kill themselves in the grinder?
The media always wants something to whine about. Ik it’s kind of making fun of adopted children but Wheatley is a villain! The villain is SUPPOSED to say stuff like that!

@@redaipo the fuck?
@@TonySuperano What?
@@TonySuperano My guy, look at the commenter's name
@@redaipo Well why does that matter and what’s wrong with it
It’s like the fact that this is the VILLAIN OF THE GAME is some sort of inconceivable concept to these casters and parents.
Also, Glados, who at this point has started who semi redemption ark, asked “what’s wrong with being an orphan?”
These type of people either have selective hearing, the inability to understand the concept of writers being separate from the characters they create, or both.
Selective hearing is something of a prerequisite when making a low quality rage-bait news story.
after that glados says its okay being adopted of course the news had to cut that out
Cus the news likes clout
I think Chell's response to it(not saying a word and not caring) is the perfect lesson how kids and adults SHOULD react to these types of insults.
i like to think she is like sad until GLaDOS stands up to her, maybe, just like, maybe anger, IDK
to be fair chell doesnt respond to anything
The game insults you hundreds of times, he just let this one land.
Valve took a look at the logo of the news channel and decided not to comment, they didn't recognize the number.
peakest comment
The game is rated E10+
If anything, that's on the ESRB for not giving a T rating, rather than Valve.
The main character, Chell, is an orphan and there is a running gag in the game that all the robots call her fat, it isn’t focused at the player, but at Chell.
I was just about to make a comment saying this exact thing!
It isn't even known if shes an orphan or not. We literally do not know her backstory.
@@bluesides8323 Glados says it, that must be it’s as canon as it can be
I see a future Chadtronic video.
Right?? Ahahahha
*3 years later*
and then it never came... NEVER CAME... like half life 3.
Being adopted means someone had multiple choices and they chose you, I don't see how that's a bad thing.
Yes but... uhhhh... lack of parents
@@beefiestsurprise269facts
but what if science itself supports your parents' decision to abandon you?
@@vibaj16 then its acceptable
Should've made the headline: overly sensitive parents get mad at a joke in a comedy video game
> "friendly" character asks what's wrong with being adopted before
> the person saying the line is the villain
> even he realises some of his friends are adopted and that there's nothing wrong with it
Listen closely at that one woman at the end when she says that they were passing it over to Valve....
The fact that they didn't try to talk about how he calls us fatty makes this funnier
0:30 "alot of anger from the gaming community" are those gamers in the room with us right now?
A dozen emails!!
My pet is adopted and he wasn't offended
This has got to be one of the dumbest controversies ever.
the fact that the kid is 20 now makes this clip feel even more old
Educational. Game.
It only becomes a "controversy" once Wheatley says it.
we live in a facility
@@arielsproul8811 LMAO
Glados also basically calls chela adopted in both portal 1 and 2
I love the title. "FATHER UPSET OVER VIDEO GAME" it's like saying "SEA WATER IS SALTY"
As an adopted child, this is my favorite line ever said in both portal games.
Wow the *villain* said something mean to the main character, how shocking 🤦♂️

I love how they talk about wheatley saying "having no parents" but never talk about wheatley saying death threats
or that part where he turns into lowtiergod
So thats how Twitter started?
The weirdest part of this story is that this all revolved around a child who didn’t even care what Wheatley said, and was just trying to enjoy the game.
They cut out the whole thing. Daily News everyone.
I find it funny that the problem wasn’t Wheatley telling chell to kill herself
But was the adopted thing even though one of the characters even says *what’s wrong with being adopted*
Lol thats hilarious 😂😂
I truly make Wheatley to be the dumbest, yet smartest thing alive, blud does not care
The fact they actually made a story about this is funny
GLaDOS literally said 'What is wrong with being adopted?' but they cut that out because all news stations want is to criticise rather than see the flip side
My dad is adopted. He never played the game but anything I showed of glados to him he thought was funny. My dad used to get picked on by his siblings that he was a fedex child but my dads mom used to tell him “I chose you, I couldn’t choose any of my other children.”
I like how they cut it out right before GLaDOS says “And? Whats wrong with being adopted?”
When the villain says something bad!
Wheetly: *Tries to fucking murder you*
Him: ...
Wheetly: You adopted fatty, fatty, fatty.
Him: HOLY SHIT YOU CROSSED THE LINE THERE PAL
Wow did you hear that that was me losing hope in humanity
The moment Brigida said "we felt COMPARED to share", I lost all remaining acknowledgement of integrity of this. Can't even read a pre-written teleprompter right.
i'm not in any means defending this story... but... someone accidentally said something wrong... oh no... it's almost as if that's a common thing that regular humans do regularly...
you can't contact valve no matter what
They will reply to the news station in 2019... in Russian.
This aged... amazingly well
Goodness I feel young and old at the same time- though I can’t lie that I quote this all the time- I am not ashamed of it
“Another gamer pointed out” lmao imagine someone says “hey there my gamers”
At 1:26 you can just tell the woman reading the quote is so deluded and is reading that genuine criticism as if she was reading someone saying that the lizard people are taking over the world (she would probably believe that conspiracy)
"How dare the villain be mean! The villain should only be mean about things I'm personally okay with!"
Wheatley is simply too good for us right now
The next line literally said “what exactly is wrong with being adopted?”
I kinda feel bad for Zoey in this scenario, she probably doesn’t even really care about it
I think everyone does it’s not her fault that the news reporters are morons
Me when news stations can't even get the game's rating right
As an adopted person, this is funny as shit
“Did you hear that? The video game character taunted the player!” Yeah no fucking shit. It’s the fucking villain. Of course he’s evil.
Well he is half villian because the glados programming corrupted him
Btw wheatly later says "actually some of my best friends are actually orphans"
Imagine how Gaben reacted to this😂😂
I bet he had a nice old chuckle one, two, and four times!
The two characters who make fun of them are the VILLAINS in a Science Fiction game.
Breaking news: a video game villain hurt my feelings
I love how they just show the emails saying "what are you trying to accomplish" and "It's not meant to be taken seriously" and they move on like just showing the emails somehow addressed them
Where's Chadtronic?
Let's get him!
please yes
i’ll do chads dirty work
if they freaked out this much over wheatley's taunts, i cant imagine their reactions when wheatley says "kill yourself"
