    I ran the saw shop for a large logging company in the 80's- a fleet of big Homelites 925's, 955's, and 1050's, 49 saws in all and many parts stocked for each- I built a brand new 925 from stock once just cuz I could, most expensive saw of all time! It was fun and am glad I did it but never told the boss, just worked it into the fleet. Wish I had it now!

    House of homelite is where I figured out how old my homelite XL-12 is. I couldn't see the files so I asked if anyone could look it up for me and posted my serial number. I was told within the hour that it's a late 68 model. Very thankful for house of homelite. Makes me love my saw even more

    Hey that was an excellent idea for a video, thank you Leon! I can't tell you how many times I said "wow", especially when the saws started showing up. Now I don't feel so bad about my 17 - 20 or so saws! Man you have an amazing collection. Great video man that was cool☺.

    Man! You ain't kidding about how it becomes an addiction! Have around 60 saws now, And half of those are vintage homelite chainsaw. I'm trying to sit tight with the collection I have, But when a saw shows up that I don't currently have, I'm weak and I buy the damn thing!😋 Thanks for sharing partner, Very much appreciate all the solid information you share Leon.

    Thanks for the tour bud!! It's an addiction not worth trying to fight unless you're just going to buy more saws. I've learned that's the only way to fight it. I just picked up a load of 18 saws last night. A guy here in town is scrapping over 500 Homelite saws. He said in a month he's going to melt them down. Very sad. I'm doing what I can to buy them up

    Definitely a bad case of CAD, but we wouldn't have it any other way. Excellent informative videos that we can always turn to when we have a problem, not to mention the parts that can be hard to find. Keep up the good work!

    Controlled Chaos I’ll never be able to unsee! 😉😂 I’m new at this and recently got my first free Stihl, Husqvarna and Shindaiwa saws. Thought I was going to keep them for myself. Thank you for helping me to decide I’m NEVER going to keep any saws for myself unless I need to use them around the property! Also thank you for helping me to not be embarrassed anymore about the state of my garage workshop. “It’s a work in progress”. 😂👍🔧🧰

    Nice shop tour Leon. We have very similar attributes. "Organized Chaos" I haven't gotten to Homelite yet but it's coming. So far I'm between Craftsman(Roper made), Mcculloch and Lombard. There's a newer Echo in there just because it was on clearance at Home Depot for almost nothing, it's like brand new. I'm thinking or feeling Homelite and Pioneer is coming up next. Now that's a collection! Christmas for the big boys. I was diagnosed with CAD about 2 years ago now, I'm getting sicker by the day

    When you have one or two of something you just have them. Three or more and your a collector. 10 or more and your a hoarder. and nothing wrong with being a hoarder or being unreasonable. I have a great hoard of stuff myself.

    Loved it & you know where (almost) everything is in there. It's odd how we can lose something so easily yet in a shop, garage like that we can walk up to a pile, reach in & grab what we need.
    Is it possible to extend the garage 6' one or 2 ways for more room or would that lead to divorce? lol

    It's a WORK Bench not a Beauty Bench😁
    CAD there is NO known cure, Only another FIX for the Withdrawls.💉🏥🛠
    When it comes to more storage take what ever you think you may need and then triple the size and that should last for about 15 to 20 years 😂
    That's a Nice Little Collection you have

      If the coil is a Prestolite Blue coil (AKA: Blue Coil Of Death) Leon has a video about baking them to repair them. Moisture is the culprit. I believe people say 160F - 200F for a couple hours. Some say a little lower for 4 hours. Look into it & schedule time when the wife isn't home. ;-)

    Me. Leon, I am trying to take a squish measurement on a xl700 no base gasket build and it’s not even putting a dent in .062 solder, am I doing doing something wrong? Or is the squish just that large on these saws

    • @LeonsChainsawPartsAndRepair
      @LeonsChainsawPartsAndRepair  4 года назад

      These old saws had LOTS of room between the top of the head & piston. Be careful though, there is some stretch at high speed. I have no idea how much, but you want some margin!

    • @BamaPerformanceAndVintagesaws
      @BamaPerformanceAndVintagesaws 4 года назад

      Oh okay, it’s a rough cylinder to start with so I think .062 squish should be okay, if not it’s not a big loss, I have a spare in much better shape as well as a spare piston. Thankyou for clarifying
