I was going to say that most of Armin’s backstory is told by Armin himself, we just don’t see it in flashbacks. And the fact that Keith was madly in love with Carla had a LOT to do with amplifying his inferiority complex, so his lashing out at her was definitely understandable, and sad that he didn’t get a chance to apologize.
This is such a wholesome turning point for Eren after having his identity shattered in the crystal cave when he saw his dad's memories and heard about what his dad had done to the Reiss family. The entire show Eren has had the attitude of he is the main character right up until he finds out (like he explains on the wall a few episodes later when the turkey titan is approaching them) that actually his titan power isnt at all about him being special. He only got the power because his dad was special and he was in the right place at the right time. He seemed to get very depressed in the cave, when Kenny sliced his forehead open and Historia asked him why he wasnt transforming to fight her. His world view had been flipped. You can even see Jean trying to cheer him up at the orphanage and in the mess hall by jabbing at him so they can argue and fight like old times, but Eren isnt taking the bait because he is too depressed to engage. Then he hears this story about Keith who is an actual bystander. But most of all he hears his mother's worldview that being destined for greatness isn't all there is to be in the world, and that he is special just because he exists. It's really one of those moments where the hero just needed to have a nice convo with their mom to break him out of his mood, (similar to Thor in Avengers: Endgame)
This episode is so underrated because of how amazing S3 is. But I honestly appreciate Keith for giving Eren some of his confidence back and relaying his mother's message to him. He might not think of himself as special but he is, giving Eren some closure after that emotional crisis might have potentially saved humanity. Him messing with his gear was to protect one of the last things Carla cared about. And for good reason, if Eren didn't have titan powers, he would've died in that first mission. And if he had died, no titan Eren would've been around to save Mikasa. Keith may think of himself as a bystander, but he isn't. He's special. Because he was born into this world. Also, little callback. The phrase Eren used to motivate himself back in S1 episode 12 when Armin was talking to him was that, "He was born into this world". He was agreeing with his mother without even knowing it. Carla is the best.
Keith was in love with carla, its not only because everyone were gathered in grisha's wedding but also because basically he stole the women he loves...
I saw another reaction channel where they completely missed that altogether. I thought it was obvious, but maybe it isn’t for some people. So, they completely misunderstand why he’s so harsh to carla and why he regrets it later.
guys, :c you should have shown the part where eren congratulates historia to the point that mikasa gets jealous, it would have been fun to see his reaction. PD: Eren with Historia would make a nice couple ;I
