I crocheted for 24 hours as a beginner | crochet with me challenge, reading vlog
thank you so much everyone for the love on this video, as someone just starting out it's so encouraging 🩵🩵 I've gotten a lot of question on the first blanket that I made, so I thought I'd pin a comment with some info!! ---->
I used 6 skeins of bernat blanket perfect phasing yarn and an 8mm crochet hook
when I got to the end of one skein I would continue on with the same color of the next one (so I would start with the center color of the skein then start with the outside color of the next skein so the color transition was seamless)
the pattern I used is a granny rectangle, so I suggest looking up a tutorial if you're not sure where to start! here's one that helped me (and don't forget to turn your work after each round 💕): ruclips.net/video/6goxlVLxenU/видео.html
Here's a link to the tik tok made by the original creator: www.tiktok.com/@the_theseus/video/7247998393669193003?_r=1&_t=8jHXcrSlwy7
did u follow the tutorial exactly? how many incraments of 3 ( for the 3 + 2) starter chain? loved the video btw!! i love the size of your blanket and was curious!
I think it’s more convenient to center pull your yarn, it gets less tangled and once you’ve found it it’s just easier
That makes a lot of sense :)
It doesn’t get less tangled but it’s not gonna move all over the place which is amazing
@@sah6._there is a thing such as a yarn bowl! Specifically made for the purpose to hold the yarn and not have it roll around
I have no luck center pulling. Always gets tangled, one project was flat out ruined by it once :(
Those type of skeins are outside pulls. There is a difference between outside pulls and inside pulls. Inside pulls are like what the typical "value yarns" are like red heart, loops and threads, caron, and Joann big twist. The outside type yarns are most of the Lion brand line, and stuff like premier puzzle.
absolutely LOVE the reading and crochet crossover vlog!
Me too! Two things I love! ❤
Dig for the middle!!! The skeins move around less
That makes sense the skein definitely rolls around when you pull from the outside!!
I felt the same when I saw house of night book reviews ! 😂 I was like they just don't understand the vibe, the drama 😂
Exactly!!! You either get it or you don’t 🤷🏻♀️
no way she isn't more popular
As another youngest child, ty for giving me ideas, though getting 3 done one top of other projects may be a struggle
I literally stopped the video and went to borrow the audiobook right away. I need to know what you're talking about!! hahahahha
I hope you liked it!!!!
Can you please Show what Tutorial of patern for the First blanken you made?
hi! I just added a pinned comment to this video with more info, I hope that helps!!
Great book
what video did you use for the grey blanket?
I just looked up “granny rectangle tutorial” on RUclips, any of the videos that pop up should help 💕
Pull from middle
Okay no hate but “skeens”😭💀
omg is that not how you say it??? 💀😭
U.K. is skeen , Australia is skain. USA, 🤷♀️
Hey, so how did you make that gorgeous blanket? Did you use a tutorial coz I wanna make that blanket but I've just started to crochet. confused here 😭😭
Hi!! I looked up a “rectangle granny square tutorial” on RUclips and went from there!! Granny square patterns are super easy and great for beginners (I’m a beginner too!!) I used 6 skeins of bernat blanket perfect phasing yarn and an 8mm crochet hook, and when I got to the end of one skein I would continue on with the same color of the next one (so I would start with the enter of the skein then start with the outside of the next one) also if you’re making a granny square don’t forget to turn your work over each time you start a new row so that your work lasts longer!! I hope that’s not an overwhelming amount of information lol I promise granny squares/rectangles are super easy :)
I was about to ask these questions!!! So glad I read through the comments. 😆
I love the coziness of these videos (:
@@cren5815 thank you so much!!
@@idkpaigely Thanks a lot! Actually I'm in the process of making a crochet skirt using belina bellwood's tutorial ( halfway done 😮💨), I saw that blanket everywhere on instagram but you're the one who actually sort of showed their progress. Also, respect for the video 🫡
@@plzSponsorMyHobbies thank you!!! glad I could help 🤠
I came for the crochet but i am completely enamoured with how you talk about books. You really make it feel like I’m gabbing with the girls!!! And I love this audiobook representation! I for one have a really hard time reading physical books and I love multitasking so listening to an audiobook while I knit/crochet is life changing. I loved this video, definitely subscribing!
Thank you so much!!!! Audiobooks 4 life 💪🏻
I am a center puller from skeins, but since I got my cake winder, I wind all of my yarn and then pull from the outside because the cakes sit nice and flat.
Very cool I’ll definitely be looking into cake winders I’ve never heard of that!!
girl how do u only have 500 subs this is like one of the best videos i’ve watched in a while!! (i’m definitely subscribing)
thank you so much!!!
Frrr
flipping the ghost inside out was actually the correct thing to do! my first amigurumi (a lil octopus) was a fail bc i didn’t know that the work curls up naturally in the opposite direction than it’s supposed to.
you’re doing a great job! i hope you keep enjoying yourself and would love to see more crochet content if it feels fun for you!
Thank you so much this is really encouraging!! And good to know that they’re supposed to be flipped out, the tutorial that I used didn’t mention it but that makes a lot of sense!!
@@idkpaigely yeah, the tutorial i used didn't mention it either! my mom had to tell me hahaha
Lol. When you miss a stitch you have to redo it or the rest of the pattern will look wonky. 😂 It’s called frogging. Your video was hilarious.
I love how comfortable you are with the camera and how you talk about the books
P.s. I’ll always try to center pull when I can
thank you!!! that's super encouraging 💕
no way you’re such a small youtuber?? i watched ur whole video thinking u were like well-established and had been doing this forever!
thank you!!! that's super encouraging to hear :)
@@idkpaigely ofc!! i literally love ur energy and am so happy i found u. im making that blanket for my mom for christmas
I try to center pull, but sometimes it can back fire and turn into a knotted mess... Truly the worst. A yarn winder also helps!
Oh cool I didn’t know yarn winders exist!!
i use to watch my grandmother crochet before she passed! you're as fast as her oh my!! I lived with her my whole life and always watched her crochet!! im so suprised how fast u are as a begginer!!
the blanket is so cute omg 😭😭😭
I just made an ombré blanket with the same bernat yarn! It’s so cozy.
Where do you get the pattern 😭
@@audre.ymakesit looks like she’s just doing a granny square blanket- a single granny square with however many rounds to get the desired size
Great video, Paige. My girlfriend Kayley loves crochet.
okay I may of watched this 20 mins ago but I just wanted to tell u please don’t ever give up ur now my favorite crochet you tuber I can’t wait to see more crochet videos!! Also if I don’t answer ur reply’s I will soon!❤
Hi you are doing great as a beginner crocheter keep it up the blanket is pretty and also you can pull from the sides or pull from the outside what ever works for you.
Thank you!!! This is really encouraging 💕
I always... always!... center pull because the flipping around of the skein drives me wild lol. Also, I impulsively bought that phasing yarn in purple last time I was at Joann so thank you for the blanket idea. I'm excited to try and actually finish a blanket project
I hate when the yarn rolls around too, that's one of the reasons I was curious about other people's methods 😂 I'm so glad you like the blanket!! It honestly went faster than I expected, good luck!!!
You are such a great crocheter especially for a beginner. My first projects were not nearly as neat as yours. Keep it going! And I loved the book content thrown in too! ❤️❤️ literally my dream day is now crocheting and reading during breaks lol. Also, I would say where you pull the yarn from is def up to preference, center pull is easier until (usually) the skein collapses on itself.
11:08 that took a turn!!
I need some advice, if I’m starting a crochet business what apps should I get eBay or Etsy? Because I wanna make sure I get the right apps!😊
So with any chunky yarn you have to use your fingers to feel for the stitch also new subscriber ❤
Ps I also pull out from the out side the middle gets tangled and its worse
thank you so much!!
I love this style of video with my two favs crochet and reading!!!❤
Stop 😂 I want to be your friend! I laughed so much while you were talking about the book because I’m literally the same way 😂 I read Fourth Wing 3 weeks ago and I’m still thinking about it 🫠 also, currently crocheting a cardigan 😅 after seeing your blanket, I might have to try making that next 😍
thank you!!! and a cardigan might have to be my next project 👀 I hope yours it going well!!
My two FAVORITE things in the world are reading and crocheting so the fact you combined them! Mmmm I officially love you. Also I was gonna read the perfect marriage but since you told me about it now I know to just move it down my list a little!
thank you!!!!! if you end up reading the perfect marriage you have to let me know what you thought 💕
I always pull from the outside!! Whenever I try to pull it from the middle it gets messed up 😅
Same!!! I felt like I was doing it wrong but it’s good to know I’m not alone 😅
So I ordered the blanket yarn bc I'm obsessed. :) Where do I find how to do the granny rectangle please? :)
I just looked up “granny rectangle tutorial” on RUclips!!
I’m a beginner crocheter too new subscriber btw
subscribing because i love your personality and i wish i could have a friend like you to sit and listen to something with as we crochet all day 😂
You’re actually so good for a beginner!! Beautiful blanket c:
Wait you’re from New England?? I am too, I’m from NH😭😭
No way!! East coast represent 👻🎃
A reader an crocheter??? I instantly subscribed
Thank you!!!! 💕
subscribed :) (i litterly went to sub and i was so shocked you only have 161 subs, defo thought it would be over 5k because this video was actually interesting) Remember me when your famous :)
Thank you so much!!! We’re just getting started over here 💪🏻💪🏻
So most people use center pool I like to use the outside so I can see how much yarn I have left especially with chunky yarn. I would definitely do the outside just so you’re aware and you don’t start a game of yarn chicken
about yarn pulling - i just make a ball of yarn before i start project, so I know if there are any imperfections, i untie knots and other unworldly things that you can find in the yarn skeins 🤣 turning one skein into the ball takes me around 15 minutes and a piece of mind for the rest of the project
No one has mentioned doing that yet, that’s super interesting!!!
I think the center pull is more prone to knots. if you work w more than one skein of the same color, it’s honestly worth it to ball it up. It just makes a more pleasant experience. That said honestly do whatever you like more bc it doesn’t rly matter and the differences aren’t that big. Also I just got this vid recommended to me, never seen you, but I think i love you lmao I hope you have a wonderful week
Thank you!!!! I hope your week is wonderful too 💕💕
I completely agree with you on the Goodreads thing. I usually research a book TO DEATH before reading, only to find I that some of the books I've loved aren't always the highest rated😅 to each their own I guess! Lol
That’s the beauty of reading 🤷🏻♀️ and sometimes it can be fun to read negative reviews of favorite books lol
Make more crochet vids!!! I love you!!! 🎉 you’re so cute
New subscriber here and what attracted me to your channel is that you’re a beginner crocheter like me but you are also a lover of books / audiobooks so we have a lot in common. ❤🏴
Hi, im a new subscriber. I am also from New England!! Im from South Eastern Massachusetts, where aboutscare you from? Also i love how u explain the audio books, you're totally making me want to start doing that😊
hey! if you have stitch markers i think that’ll def help with dropping stitches !! i had that issue with my squares (still do have that issue but it’s better now) and i used to center pull but ive got soooo much yarn barf over the past few months so i just started outside pulling. might 3d print me a yarn winder
i pull the outside yarn because with worsted weight it gets tangled and yarn vomits everywhere when i pull from center. also for the ghost, there is a right and wrong side since its amigurumi, so the "inside" was probably just the correct side!!
good to know that was the right side of the ghost!! the tutorial didn't mention flipping it so I thought I was going rogue 😅
24/hrs 😮..I understand, I start something and can't stop but I don't think I could last 24hrs lol
Crochet fast becomes addictive (I started learning in Jan this year) Please take care of your eyes and remember you should be focusing 20 feet away from you for a few minutes every 20 minutes or so to prevent eye strain.
both methods are normal for a skein (outside yarn and heart thread), and both have their own benefits. The heart's a little harder to find most of the time and tends to come out in a clump, which can make a bit of a mess if you're not careful. Like, doesn't damage your yearn but sometimes the heart comes out bigger than you'd expect.
Interesting but technically they did not crochet for 24 hours since they only did 12 hours Also if they crochet for a whole day or 24 hours that would mean that they would not eat sleep rink or anything apart from using the bathroom
Hi! Could you link what video/pattern and yarn you used for the blanket? It looks soooo cozy and Im jealous haha
I'm a center pull girlie, but I will no longer do that with yarn from hobby lobby. It always gives me yarn barf. Specialty yarns I decide based on how it feels.
For me, I prefer using the outside yarn. Also, I normally take my skeins and roll them into balls of yarn before I start my projects. It just works best for me.
i love ur accent omg and i love these videos omgg- i cant believe u posted right as i was looking at ur page im so happy u posted also u should check out chunky yarn! perfect for a blanket i havent finished watching the video yet but- im new to crochet ive only made like..150+ inch chain-....but anyways ur so underated !!
I am team outside pull, because when you center pull it uses the inside of the skein and leaves a pile of knotted yarn from the outside.
I'm making a granny rectangle blanket now
Let me know how it turns out!!!!
Omg i relate so much to the flow state. I’ll be up till 3am knitting because I just zone out into it and love to see the progress
I just saw that you havent uploaded in a few months and that makes me very sad, i loved this crochet/book content and would love to see more of your work
There are yarn that are center pull or outer pull. The way the yarn is wrapped that you are showing should use the yarn on the outside. If you pull from the center you will have a lot of yarn barf. Nice blanket.
i personally pull from the middle if its acrilic yarn or just not fluffy yarn and for fluffy yarn i full from the side if im making a blanket i like pulling from the side but middle is definitly more convienyent
How does this angel only has 896 subs ?! Your extremely talented and underrated ❤ I love you and ur vids sm ! Edit: Keep doing what you love and never give up
Thank you so much!!!!! I’ll do my best 💕💕
Stop it you're way too cute I wanna be your friend so bad. The blanket's looking so cute and cozy 💕
I need to start listening to audio books! I love reading, but with kids and life in general, I don't have a lot of time to crochet and read.
you got a new subscriber.this video was so much fun to watch.also that mushroom granny square is adorable
Thank you so much, I really appreciate it!!
I pull from the inside, I hate having to worry about the skein rolling around to get my yarn from it
I find pulling works well until your to a certain point then you get big tangled chucks coming out
Hi Paige I am new to your channel and your videos and right now I am working on my cottage core mosaic blanket and granny squares blanket and butterfly mosaic blanket and I love your channel and your videos and if you keep making videos I will keep watching them and what is your favorite crochet project to work on right now and favorite types of yarn to used when crocheting and keep up the great work on your RUclips channel and keep up the great work on your crochet projects and have you tried mosaic crochet before and I have a RUclips channel myself and do you do livestream on your RUclips channel 🦋
Hi!! thanks for all the comments, I appreciate your support!! right now I'm really enjoying working on the mushroom granny square blanket that I started in this video, and I loved working with the bernat blanket yarn so I think I'll be making more plushies soon!! I've never tried mosaic crochet before, but it sounds cool so I hope your project is going well!!
I barely go for the centerpull with plushyarn it doesnt rly goes faster this way xD
I used to take the yarn from the outside of the skein but sinds I found out that center pull was a thing I only do center pulls
I think you can get the stuffing from Joanne Fabrics but I got eyes from a hobby lobby
enjoyed this video to the fullest babes but don't forget to boycot starbucks
To answer ur questions I say I go from the outside not the inside bec the inside I tried that and it notted it and it was horrible so I say the inside
if i can find the middle of the yawn I use that but sometimes I cant find the middle so I start on the outside
do you have a video on that blanket??! which video tutorial did you follow ? 😍
The plot for The Perfect Marriage kinda resembles The Girl on the Train
You can pull your yarn from we’re ever you want but I like to do it from the middle
yes it is better to use the center pull but depending on the type of yarn it will have a middle or not
i pull from the outside because when i pull from the inside i get a hugeeee knot from it
I subscribed... I to am a fellow Crocheter, I have been crocheting for over 50 yrs... A RUclipsr "Hooked By Robin" does a lot of easy patterns to learn from... Keep it up. Don't Stop... Much LOVE from Oklahoma...
I hope I’m able to crochet for that long 💕thanks for the pattern recommendation!!
I pull from the outside bc im lazy and dont feel like trying to find it 😭
Sometimes with amigurumi projects, you must flip it inside out.
I prefer doing it from outside bc by inside it gets loose and messy easily I feel
Can you please make more crochet videos
They're really enjoyable ❤❤
I also crochet stuffs to gift my close relatives. They just feel like they have more meaning.
And crochet gifts are often really useful too like blankets, clothes, or plushies!! It’s a great way to give to loved ones 💕
I prefer center pull. It is not that hard to find the center pull. It doesn't bounce all around like it does when you pull from the outside. Try the book Layla by Coleen Hoover and Verity. They called Verity a modern-day Rebecca: By Daphne du Maurier. I disagree. By itself, it was really good. Rebbecca is one of my favorite novels there is a a small nuance vibe but not the same at all.
thanks for the recs!!
what i do is that if i find the start on the outside i pull from there but if it isnt i find it in the center
omg this video is instresting i jst stopped everything i was doing when u postedd!!
Dig for the middle piece it makes it a lot easier to keep going with with less stops
Hi, I’m so glad to have ran into your video. One book I will recommend is The House Maid by Freida McFadden. It is a gooood book to read. There is a second part to it . I need to get my hands on the second book to read. Can’t wait. Enjoy crocheting 🧶 😊
I've heard good things about it thanks for the rec!!
Inside or outside pull for your yarn is completely up to the user. I prefer to do an outside pull (no yarn barf). However, I have a husband with a 3D printed who prints me so many yarn related things. Several are yarn holders. I have a lazy susan type yarn holder that spins as I use the yarn. He also designed and printed a yarn holder that has a wrist attachment so you can hang your yarn from your wrist and walk or stand while knitting or doing crochet.
Wow that sounds amazing!!!!!!! 🩷

Are you kidding?? Books and crochet?? 😍😍😍😍
When authors purposefully make main characters unlikeable I just don’t get it. I need to care about the characters well being not hoping they fall off a cliff!
Exactly!!!! Where’s the fun in reading about characters you hate???
