    thank you so much everyone for the love on this video, as someone just starting out it's so encouraging 🩵🩵 I've gotten a lot of question on the first blanket that I made, so I thought I'd pin a comment with some info!! ---->
    I used 6 skeins of bernat blanket perfect phasing yarn and an 8mm crochet hook
    when I got to the end of one skein I would continue on with the same color of the next one (so I would start with the center color of the skein then start with the outside color of the next skein so the color transition was seamless)
    the pattern I used is a granny rectangle, so I suggest looking up a tutorial if you're not sure where to start! here's one that helped me (and don't forget to turn your work after each round 💕): ruclips.net/video/6goxlVLxenU/видео.html

      Those type of skeins are outside pulls. There is a difference between outside pulls and inside pulls. Inside pulls are like what the typical "value yarns" are like red heart, loops and threads, caron, and Joann big twist. The outside type yarns are most of the Lion brand line, and stuff like premier puzzle.

And I loved the book content thrown in too! ❤️❤️ literally my dream day is now crocheting and reading during breaks lol. Also, I would say where you pull the yarn from is def up to preference, center pull is easier until (usually) the skein collapses on itself.

    Your blanket is amazing! I’m so impressed at how much you got done in a weekend. Wow!
    My thoughts on working yarn from the skein. 1) I pull from the outside if I know I’m not going to use the whole skein at once. The leftover is more compact and doesn’t create a pile of yarn barf. 2) I pull from the inside on big projects when I know I’ll be using multiple skeins and it won’t roll around or get tangled which happens when I use the outside.
    Love the video and the book talk.

      @idkpaigely  Год назад +1

  • @lunaserpent443

    I've been center pulling in skeins for years (all weights), easier to keep loose tension and knot free working yarn, but it can get messy at the end when the skein collapses. Unravelling from the outside end is just extra time spent stopping stitches to roll the skein around for a pool of working yarn and I don't want to stop to do that when I'm in the zone. I just got a ball/cake winder for $25 and it is The BEST Purchase I've ever made for yarn tools. If there is any tangling at the end, it's in the last 10-20 yards verses the last 50 from skein center pull which is great because I tend to work big projects with lots of skeins.

    While I am a center-pull girlie, there is a really cool hack I saw the other day on TikTok. If you like wearing Crocs, what you can do is jab a long crochet needle through your ball of yarn and then hang it between the holes in your Crocs and use it as a way to pull the yarn from the outside. Super handy! ❤

  • @MarianAllen-bb3zx
    @MarianAllen-bb3zx Год назад

    To answer your question, it doesn’t really matter which yarn you pull, but I personally think the middles yarn is better because it gets less tangled and its cleaner and easier. Love your video!!❤

    For me, I prefer using the outside yarn. Also, I normally take my skeins and roll them into balls of yarn before I start my projects. It just works best for me.

  • @RuhaneChiisai
    @RuhaneChiisai 8 месяцев назад

    both methods are normal for a skein (outside yarn and heart thread), and both have their own benefits. The heart's a little harder to find most of the time and tends to come out in a clump, which can make a bit of a mess if you're not careful. Like, doesn't damage your yearn but sometimes the heart comes out bigger than you'd expect.

    Some advice, even from a beginner myself: Always pull from the center. For 1, it allows easier crocheting, especially if you're going at a good pace. For 2, like another commenter already said, it makes it less likely to tangle and it doesn't move around as much like if you were to do it from the outside

  • @alexbeckyh

    Hii, came to your channel newly for this video, you flipping the ghost the other way actually made it right side out the messier side in amigurumi is usually the wrong side, and the nicer side that the stitches look good on is the right side!! it's definitely hard to tell as a beginner but when I made stuffed animals when I was just starting out, I could tell if it was the right side out if I was crocheting towards the left on the round (clockwise) and if I was crocheting on the round to my right instead (counterclockwise) then I knew I needed to flip it!

    Inside or outside pull for your yarn is completely up to the user. I prefer to do an outside pull (no yarn barf). However, I have a husband with a 3D printed who prints me so many yarn related things. Several are yarn holders. I have a lazy susan type yarn holder that spins as I use the yarn. He also designed and printed a yarn holder that has a wrist attachment so you can hang your yarn from your wrist and walk or stand while knitting or doing crochet.

      And how many balls of yarn do you need for a blanket like the size of the tiktok?

    • @idkpaigely
      @idkpaigely  Год назад +1

      hi!! I don't have a tutorial for that exact blanket, the original creator said they made a granny rectangle blanket with 6 skeins of the bernat perfect phasing yarn, and an 8mm crochet hook. I hope that helps!!

    Hi, I’m so glad to have ran into your video. One book I will recommend is The House Maid by Freida McFadden. It is a gooood book to read. There is a second part to it . I need to get my hands on the second book to read. Can’t wait. Enjoy crocheting 🧶 😊

    I'm a center pull girlie, but I will no longer do that with yarn from hobby lobby. It always gives me yarn barf. Specialty yarns I decide based on how it feels.
