    I got this car as a rental for a few days and fell in love with the way it is tuned and the way everything is laid out. Smooth and quiet ride. Great steering and electronics. Very comfortable. Now I want one.

    I went to hertz to rent a car for a business trip. I'd never driven any Hyundai before, so when he pointed to this '15 Sonata, I was kinda disappointed. Well, I've been driving this car back and forth from Tampa to Birmingham for 3 weeks and I must say I'm very surprised.
    1) Its much quicker that the Altima I used to own ('06) and drives much better (accel, ride, comfort) than the '12 Altima I rented.
    2) They did a killer job with sound suppression. Its pretty quiet for the price.
    3) I have the base, and I'm getting (per the display) 38.2 mpg. If I fill up in Tampa, I can easily get to Atlanta and I'm just below 1/8 of a tank.
    4) It glides to 100 mph with ease. The '12 Altima sounded like it was taxed at 90.
    I didn't expect the the interior to look this nice and it doesn't feel like crap like the Chevy Malibu I rented.
    I would be happy to own this car with the kind of driving I do. I wish it had a V-6 tho.

    I really like how this car looks now. I hated the older one. This one looks more refined and stronger. Atleast from the front (which looks really really good instead of just pretty good). Its a great looking car in my opinion but as far as I can see, practically all the car reviewers don't like how it looks in comparison to the older one... Weird

      Car reviewers did not like the old Sonata design because they thought it will not age well.
      Now, they don't like new Sonata design because its design is not as expressive...

    I just purchased this vehicle in the Limited trim (phantom black). I have to agree with almost everything he says here - but I completely disagree with his opinion on the exterior style. OMG - this is 200% better looking than the previous model! With the previous model, it was quite a challenge to see one on the road and try to determine whether it was an Elantra or a Sonata - now they have finally given the Sonata it's own look. He also said "these ugly wheels." Disagree again. And a final note regarding his disappointment with the MPG - I believe most ratings are done at the legal speed limit - not at the speeds he mentioned.

      +Chris Kramek (BugsysDad) If your sonata is manufactured after Oct 2015, you can qualify for a free upgrade to the Audio/Video system and receive $400 after completing a survey of the system. You must reside in Dallas, N.J, L.A or Chicago to qualify. Let me know if this works for you. We are limited to just 10 Sonatas for the survey. Thanks, Johan

    MPG!!!
    I rented a 2015 Sonata just like the one in this video.
    Drove about 300 miles, mostly highway, but perhaps 15% city.
    I averaged, for the entire rental period 37.4 MPG.
    Then again, I did NOT drive at 80 mph! I kept to the speed limits of 60-70 where I drove.
    If anyone expects to get EPA MPG at 80 mph, they WILL be disappointed! Derp!
    This car was a dream to drive. Just as quiet and smooth as my Lexus, but the Lexus gets 20 mpg.
    I am ready to buy one!

    My 1st car right out of college was a excel, my second car after I flipped and totaled it was the elantra, after my friend totaled that I got the sonata. I never had a problem with any of these cars. I just recked my 2004 Sonata with only 148K miles on it. I was thinking heck they are going to total it out at maybe @ $1,500. To my surprised they totaled it out at 5,800K because it cost 6,500K to repair. I bought it back for $777 (salvaged) I still brought home like $4K + in my pocket. I sold it to a friend for $1500 and she just got the doors fixed and it rides beautiful you would never know it was in a accident. I am headed to the Hyundai dealership in Oct to purchase a new Hyundai 2015 Sonata!!! #LOYALCUSTOMER

    I like the appearance, it looks like an affordable luxury sedan... The controls are advanced but simple, there's plenty of room inside the car and trunk/boot, and comes with a few bells and whistles: like a panoramic sunroof, Apple CarPlay, heated seats and steering wheel, etc... This'd be my choice!

    I bought a '17 Sonata SE three weeks ago. I'm getting over 40mpg in straight hiway driving at speeds above 70mph. I keep the tires at 38psi. I've read owner reviews on Edmunds and other websites. Many drivers confirm my experience. But then others say the gas mileage sucks.
    I don't get it, but I'm very satisfied with my new car.

    According to Kelly Blue Book and Redline Reviews (two leading companies for automotive reviews and reporting) both have stated that the new Sonata is a very good looking car along with the Mazda 6,. Both were also listed as finalists for best style for mid sized cars. This guys needs to do some more research. I myself own a 2016 Sonata Limited, and I must say it is one of the best looking cars out there. It was between the Sonata and Mazda 6 for me, but the Mazda was too harsh of a ride. And the seats were very uncomfortable.

    I have a 2007 Sonata, V6. Has everything but leather seats. I love it. She has over 150,000 miles on her and still runs like new. Never had any major mechanical, engine or transmission issues. She has been a very good and faithful car. Come February, I shall buy me a new Sonata. I don't generally listen to these car reviewers because most don't speak in generalized context, they rate according to their likes & dislikes, should haves and could haves all based on their own personal preferences or like they're speaking for everyone...which tells us nothing. Always best to hear from current owners and to take one for a spin yourself. Myself, I think the new Sonata is nice looking and the interior looks well made & well appointed. Tho I am partial to the previous style, I do like this new get up. The only pitfall I can really say is that, they need to bring back the V6 engine. That 249hp has a good snappy get up and go (at least in my current 07)

    • @lordpeekaboo
      @lordpeekaboo 9 лет назад

      Our 2008 Sonata V6 at 136,000 has had zero repairs except a sun visor replaced under warranty. I just replace the original battery a month ago. It will absolutely smoke an Accord V6 stoplight to stoplight. We were looking at a new Genesis until I saw the new Sonata 2.0 Limited. Now if the dealer could just get us one.

    • @navyguyhm3
      @navyguyhm3 9 лет назад

      Yea...we've had issues with both visors...but that's the only major issue we really had. The paint is chipped (hailstorm when I was stationed in Maryland). We're looking to buy another Sonata. Tho the model we have now is somewhat equivalent to the 2.0T..and I don't want to pay that much. So we're settling for the 2.4L sport with just about everything but the powerful engine and sunroof. A little bummed, cuz I love my sunroof. In exchange for the sunroof, im getting the premium package and tech package. I refuse to drive a Camry or an Accord and I won't even look at Ford or Mazda. The 2.4L is still a good strong engine and if you drive in "sport mode" gives it that V6 feel & power.

    • @bendreher961
      @bendreher961 9 лет назад

      navyguyhm3 What's wrong with the 2015-16 Mazda 6? It, too, has nice interior and exterior styling cues, and it is said to have sportier driving dynamics than the Sonata. It also offers slightly better fuel economy than the latter. The 2016 redesign (coming in February) also comes with some significant changes to the interior, including Mazda's new infotainment system that is offered in the 3. Both cars are excellent options, but maybe you should test drive them both or at least do some more research online.

    • @navyguyhm3
      @navyguyhm3 9 лет назад

      I test drove the 6. While it is sportier than the Sonata, to me, it was a bit of a rough ride. I was able to feel every bump in the road thru the steering wheel and what felt like the whole frame of the car...like it had some rigid, tight shocks or something. But what made me look away from the car was the seating. It was too low for my liking. I test drove every car i had in mind, the Camry & Accord (just for giggles) as I would never buy one, the Optima, Sonata (same platform different styling/options), Mazda6, Jetta which I absolutely love but had recurring problems with the last one I owned so I opted out of that and the new Chevy Malibu, but again, my current malibu is a pos so that's a no. And then the Altima which was quite nice, but was more generic and didn't really have everything I was looking for in a car.

    It is funny to watch how some reviewers (autobytel, autoguide) rave about how good new Sonata is while other reviewers (Motortrend, CarandDriver) rate it as one of the worst cars in the segment.
    It seems like that reviewers who evaluate cars based on the real world performance like new Sonata while reviewers who evaluate cars based on 0-60 time and track performance do not.

    Good review! I love Hyundais and Kias, they have come a very long ways in a very short time. I have driven many and there are many out there among my family and friends. I was never a huge fan of the 'fluidic' design but still liked the previous sonata. I think this one looks even better with it's sharper lines. It looks simplified but I don't think it's boring. It appears more refined in my eye and I suspect that it is easier to tighten up those body gaps when the lines are straighter. Some of the older body styles looked like McDonald's golden arches from the side, a body shop nightmare!

    I am not sure if this guy does his homework before videoing his review. Just too many wrong statements. While other readers have already pointed out his mistakes, what bothers me most is that his wife would not buy the car if it has no height adjustment with the passenger side seat. So, my question to him is this. Must her personal need be met to be a good car for all others as well? I don't see this a fair review at all. Sonata may be excellent but the reviewer sucks.

    A power rear shade would be nice, but given the fact that no other mid size sedan even offers manual rear passenger shades, I'm not sure Hyundai should be criticized.
    Overall, looks like a great car. I do believe it's a 2.4L btw, and driving 70 to 80mph on the freeway won't give the best mpg returns. Hate the 17" rims. Wish the 18" sport limited rims were an option for the 2.4L limited.

  • @rlively77

    Exterior styling is vastly superior to the previous generation.
    After 3 months of ownership, the car has exceeded my expectations. NHSTA safety ratings, driver ergonomics, and outstanding warranty are highlight features. Also, 'US News and World Report' picked the 2015 Sonata as the 'best car for the money' and 'best car for families' in the most competitive vehicle market - mid-sized sedan.
    Sonata was introduced in 1985 and after 30 years of development, I think the aggressive engineering/ manufacturing has reached a watershed moment for Hyundai: parity with the Honda Accord.
    As a former Accord owner, I cannot overstate the detrimental impact of the failed Takata airbag recall/coverup and it's consequences.

    I got the SE base model a couple hours ago and should have gone straight home as I was a little tired but...I went for a short drive instead. it's so wonderful. Quiet cabin, good performance for my needs (I'm not obsessed like other folks). The ride is really nice. I'll probably say that over and over again. He's right about the style. It doesn't stand out to me when comparing it to the 2014, however, it doesn't make me cringe either. The drawback for me is the removal of heated seats in the base model.

    I hated the old style, love the new looks front to back, much more mature. autoguide hated the front seat comfort while this critic loves it. Also most websites have bashed this car saying it no match to fusion or accord etc .... I am so confused now!!

    • @4af
      @4af 9 лет назад +2

      Just rent one and drive it 300+ miles. The front seat comfort is better (softer) than Camry on long drives so you can drive 2-3 hours without getting sore. The ride is distinctly smoother than Camry and slightly quieter. The air conditioner is cold and it's fan powerful. Nit picks: The left 15% of the windshield fogs easily on rainy days and is slow to clear unless you activiate the AC compressor. Directional stability of the steering, though better than Camry, is not as secure as the Avalon and Lexus ES350. On cold mornings it takes longer for the heater to put out hot air compared to the Camry. Overall, the car is the leader in its class for the owner who seeks the most comfortably riding and quiet $20-30K car on the market. The owner who desires the Sonatas virtues, plus wants a more opulent interior and the best directional stability available on the market should consider getting a base model ($35-40k0 Lexus ES350.

    And I love how this guy said 70-80 MPH xD they test the cars (especially with the 6 speeds and based on how they tend to be geared) at 65 MPH. That's when you get the best efficiency most of the time. Driving 70-80 MPH you wont be...

    The 15-17 models look more elegant & refined compared to the 10-14 models. The 15-17 models have aged well especially the Limited, Sport 2.0T/ Sport 2.0T with the Limited package, & Limited 2.0T trims have aged really well. Even the 18-19 models aged really well especially in those trims

    Who ever this guy is, he has no clue of what he is saying. You can not do a car review if all you are going to say are bad comments about the car. I personally think this Hyundai looks nice (my opinion). Hyundai has gone a long way to be where they are right now. Everyone knows when it comes to Hyundai and Kia they give you good gas mileage better than most competitors.

  • @danielpark94

    you want to know the reason why you're not getting the mpgs? you're driving 70-80 on the highway. EPA tests at 60mph. if you know anything about the cars you'd know wind resistance increases exponentially after 60mph.

    i honestly think this guy has something against this car. i saw one, an se, and it was very nice and although it is a gas saver i felt like it drove good. in addition, i dont even know why even come up with the gas savings at 80 mph when most regular humans like me would not risk points in my license to save two or three minutes in a car meant for gas saving.

    • @mainscreen4939
      @mainscreen4939 8 лет назад +1

      in addition, i always say that looks isna very subjective matter for reviewers to talk about. some dont like the sonata, but i do. some dont like the gti, but i do, so if it was me i wouldnt talk about looks

    Stating what mileage he got at 70-80 is useful, but saying that the EPA continues to overstate is false. They state the best mileage you can achieve on the highway because many highways are still 60-65. His mileage exceeded what I'd expect from this sonata. ALL cars will be well below EPA at 70-80mph.
    And this guy must be new to reviewing since hes commenting so aggressively on styling. Styling is always personal taste so what's the point. I love the new sonatas styling, its what caught my eye.
    Looking forward to seeing the new 1.6T sonata. I'm crossing my fingers it'll get 40mpg hwy at speeds of 90-100mph

    Adrenaline junkie love good looks? To me,a car is a tool to help me live out the rest of my life. Car is not meant to bother me, nor boss me. If I could afford it, please give me a chauffeur and car, trouble free. Other, a Sonata type of car.
