      Yes! I know someone who just purchased this, this week!! Fully loaded, plus all extra options, Hyundai Sonata, 2.0T. Sport limited. Fabulous. Original price, $35k.....My friend paid just 16k. Has 62k miles on it. Everyone is thrilled, & many shocked... (never thought Hyundai made a fabulous vehicle with quality, too.)

    This still looks so good 5 years later. I think the exterior of this & the refresh it got still looks better than some aspects of the new generation’s exterior & interior design. This was classy, elegant, understated. It looked like a combination between an Audi & a BMW while still managing to be distinctive. Hyundai kinda ruined the design of the Sonata with the oversized grill the new one got that makes it look like a blowfish. The taillights are exaggerated & make no sense. This one still looks perfectly elegant

    These cars look so much better on the road... People tend to understate the design in reviews. However, if you happen to randomly see one of these cars on the road, it will catch your attention and you may find yourself staring at it. I happen to really like the fact that the design, inside and out, is less fluidic. It has more masculinity.

      Hyundai mentioned they targeted a better driver dynamic with this latest redesign. We were just seeing if their claim was valid. Most consumers who buy this vehicle don't consider it a high priority, but we felt it was necessary to inform the enthusiast who may be considering this car over a Mazda6, Honda Accord, Ford Fusion, or Nissan Altima if it's one of the sportier offerings now.

      Redline Reviews need your help buddy. I am driving a Mazda 6 2009 model since 5+ years, its a basic 2 ltr engine. Now its time for replacement before it starts giving me big maintenance bills.
      Narrowed down to M6 third generation, optima or sonata. I'm more inclined to getting Sonata because its fresh while optima would have new shape may be next year. I love 6 and would be happy to get it again but its interior and higher price puts me off, exterior is just unimaginably great.
      Sonata has decent shape, more luxurious feel than 6 or optima, cheaper maintenance and rather low price. But i'm undecided on how would i feel (6 to sonata) .... then again how much 'sport feel' mustd have i drawn out of my 2 ltr engine. Any comments?

  • @FxRiderST
    @FxRiderST 9 лет назад +1

    You nailed it on a head.
    I was in the market for that class, and test drove about 5 different brands. The Hyundai is most refined, it has this upscale look in and out. BUT... when it comes to driving - it is lugging, and tome it is a deal breaker. Engine works hard to get up to the speed, especially on a hill, or when passing. Even if shifting into "manual" it locks the enthusiasm.
    In the contrary, an Altima is not as eye pleasing especially on the outside, but in terms or drive-ability it sure exceeds, and therefore I went with Altima. Although it is still not as fast off the line as 6 syls upper 200's or 300+hp car, but is does the job well, and still has lot's of options too.
    So, bottom line, if you're looking for everyday drive in traffic, or don't really care about little sportiness and a little punch, but rather prefer more luxury and refinement - go with Sonata and enjoy it.

    Great Review...I actually like this car much better than the previous one as well.
    I especially like the all new interior...
    My biggest gripe is the transmission and lack of power with the 2.4. Also, since the 2.0T has been detuned, the Optima now seems a better option with the turbo.

  • @NileshR12

    I just realized something: if Hyundai had implemented that blended LED DRL tech they did with the current gen Sonata for this generation, they could've had put the LED DRL on the outer regions of the projector headlights like the Azera & have it blend into the chrome strip that goes towards the window beltline. That would've looked amazing!

  • @NileshR12
    @NileshR12 4 года назад +1

    People who criticized this 2015-2017 version of the Sonata for being “bland” don’t realize that this is arguably the version of the Sonata that has aged the best since it doesn’t look overdone or they tried so hard to make it look attractive, it just is attractive with an elegant and clean design

Non turbo i was able to get 550 miles, turbo under 500. You can get the limited, limited tech , and tech with ultimate back in 2015. In 2015 with the ultimate you could get lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control with emergency braking, and hi -low beam assist, emergency braking with pedestrian alert, rear cross traffic alert, and yes you did not need a g80.

    • @DHGroove
      @DHGroove 10 лет назад +1

      Jonathan Washington Interesting. I know C&D timed the 2.0t at 8 seconds from 0-60, but stated... "An undertorqued hose clamp let go between the turbo and the intercooler". That could have been the problem with hp due to the prototype nature of the car they were driving. Then they reviewed the ECO model and found that the 1.6t did 0-60 in 6.7 Seconds. Then there is a recent video (search 2015 Hyundai Sonata 0-60 in youtube) that shows the 2.0t doing 0-60 in 6.3-6.5s, however in unknown conditions. Not the fastest, but that is a fairly nice step up from the base 2.4.

    I'm really digging the new modern uptown elegant style of the Sonata. It looks really nice. The looks of this vehicle just makes me want to buy it in soo many ways. BUT, I too am a car enthusiast. I have to have a fun, Comfortable, Engaging, Different, fast, and Memorable car. To me this is something just a regular person would get just to get from A-B-C-D And if they have the Eco all the way to F. Just a regular driver is what this is. I'd rather get a Chrysler 200s V6. Noway the 200 V6 is slower than this. NO WAY. Its not very engaging but I would sacrifice that for the sake of differentiality and speed. All around I'd pass and go for a 200. But if the Sanota was more engaging and faster, Id get it.

    I have the same car and for some reason whenever i brake and my lights are out my left brake light doesn't work. When the auto lights are on all brake lights work. Why is it like that?

    Looks like this could have been the next Kia Optima. I bet Hyundai will be planning a revamp soon much like the Camry did. This current generation needs a lot more gloss to shine.

    You've driven both the new Genesis and this fully loaded Sonata Limited. Thoughts on whether the genesis is worth the extra 20k ?

    • @theredline
      @theredline  10 лет назад +1

      You're comparing apples to oranges here. The Genesis sedan is a RWD mid-size/full size luxury sedan. It has a wheelbase that is 8 inches longer, an overall length that's 5.5 inches longer, and it's an inch wider than the Sonata. It comes with a V6 or V8 engine and an 8-speed transmission versus 6. Driving both cars immediately makes you realize the Genesis is a full-on luxury sedan while the Sonata is a mainstream family car. They feel completely from different behind the wheel.

    If the faux wood was matte it would’ve been more convincing of looking real but maybe they didn’t want it to get confused with being wood from a Genesis sedan but either way this interior was also perfect

    If this 6 speed auto is the same one found on the Sante Fe Sport, I'm not a fan. The one I drove felt jerky kicking down for passing maneuvers. I liked the car itself, but the feel of the trans killed it for me.

  • @Evan92211
    @Evan92211 8 лет назад +1

    Rev hang? lol no.... the car is designed to stay in high rpm. because you floored it, it knows that you wanna really get going so it stays in high rpm. they do it because it is less stressful on the transmission, because if you let off the gas just for a split second it will be doing extra shifting at high stress. because most people don't stay pinned to the floor when they drive lol.

    powertrains are really disappointing. i've read the 2.0t does 0-60 in nearly 8 seconds which is inexcusable. but it looks cool i guess.

    • @zxbc1
      @zxbc1 10 лет назад

      0-60 has more to do with the tuning and gearing than engine performance. The 1.6t engine in Sonata is actually tuned for faster 0-60, does it in 6.7s. Hyundai said they dialed the 2.0t to provide more low end power, so I suppose that means faster 0-30 or something. It's a shame though that they don't offer more power, people who cross shop the 2.0t and other 6 cylinder cars will care about acceleration. V6 Camry can do 0-60 in low 5s, and Accord and Altima both can hit sub 6s.
      I'm also not sold on the look of this car. It just looks bland. With new Camry changing its grill to look more like Lexus, and the existence of Mazda6, Fusion, and Optima, this car looks as bland as the Accord. Even the new Passat looks better.

      ***** I have a 2011 Elantra with 170k miles on it and I drive rough while still taking care of it...... It has been nothing but reliable and the inside has no rattles, no scratched plastics, or anything like that. I have 0 complaints with my car and will be buying another Hyundai when I have the chance. And the longer warranty has been magnificent because there's been certain maintenance things that I have been able to get done for only $100. I think the warranty is more-so related to increasing customer loyalty.. But you know: To each his own.

    • @alexandermilentis2130
      @alexandermilentis2130 7 лет назад +3

      Definitely not fast by any means, but most people in the market for a Hyundai aren't taking their car to the drag strip. 0-60 is pretty much a useless measurement these days anyway.
