Hi! So my cousin is Doctor William Bass, one of the founders of the Tennessee Tech Body Farm. And he researched this case for the exhumation of Big Bopper and did the examination and reinterment. At 8:45 that’s him in the tan shirt!! And then proceeded to do a slideshow presentation disproving myths surrounding this case. I’ll never forget how passionate he was that ‘Bopper was not shot! He was dead with everyone else! He didn’t get up away and then get murdered!’ The things you see at your grandparents 50th wedding anniversary…..
Scott I am a Mortician . If you embalmed a body just right a body can stay whole for at least 10 or more years and if you don’t embalm a body right it won’t last or remain whole for at least 2-5 years . As a Mortician it’s all about the balance of preservation and chemical balance. When I open my funeral home in June 2027 . I would love to invite you to come visit me and my funeral home. And thank you for covering this story ☺️
My cousin is a Mortician also. He exhumed a gentleman that was buried in 1969 the same year I was born. The family provided him a picture for id prior. He told me that he looked just as he did in the picture. The man at that point had been in the ground for 30 years. What had brought up the topic was my brother had recently died.
@ in Danville Va . Right now I’m searching for the right location to open my funeral home . I’ll keep you posted and let you know of the date and time of my grand opening .
Imagine being in your 50’s, looking down on your father, who is in his 20’s. I can’t imagine how your brain processes that information. A middle aged man, looking down on his father, young enough to be his son. Wow. RIP to them all, the music 🎶
My understanding of the son's situation was that he was haunted by what happened during his entire life. He keenly felt the loss of his father, especially because he'd never met him, never gazed upon his face in life. He needed closure. That very likely influenced his career choice as a performer and living historian, representing his father. RIP Big Bopper II.
Just an FYI, JP Richardson's son passed away in 2013, 6 years after he had his father exhumed. He also was a musician and often performed his dad's famous song.
I can't wait to get into this, I've been out to the crash site in Iowa , I have relatives that live not too far from the crash happened let's get into the Scott shall we❤safe travels Scott ❤
As a kid, I always thought they were much older, but when you think about it, they were so young when they passed, Ritchie just out of high school at 17, Buddy not even 22 and the Big Bopper was 28. Tragic. The world lost so much in that horrific plane crash. RIP to all of them.
Most of my life I thought Ritchie Valens and Buddy were in their late 20s and JP was pushing 40. My proverbial balls were blown off when I found out Ritchie was 17. They sure don't look their ages. They look much older.
i visit boppers grave often cause i live near there. wish i could have met you while you were here.. thank you for highlighting these young men. respect
i am a gen x guy, but my childhood was filled with happy moments listening to rockabilly , buddy holly jp richardson ritchie valens, elvis, jerry lee lewis, the song run around sue, so many good ones, thanks scott for covering the history of three great rock n roll stars
Thank you so much Scott for posting this video! You are the sweetest guy in the world 🌎! You're like a little brother! The saddest day when the plane went down
My father used to play their music all the time when I was a kid. Soo sad what happened to them guys....soo young but soo damn talented. RIP too all of them. ❤😢 Thank you Scott
No one ever talks about the pilot Roger Peterson show where he is buried at or no other information about him or autopsy report. RIP Buddy, Ritchie,JP, and Roger ✝️🙏
If you go on find a grave and look up his name it shows you where he is buried. I feel like the other people in the flight don’t get enough respect like they give with buddy holly.
Love it Scott. I think you hit the nail on the head with the title "the day the music died" that's exactly what happened, absolutely. The man was a legend. I feel what you say about no point going to a place if you can't film it. Exactly. Even still, regardless you did an amazing job with what you showed us in the video. The cemetery looks beautiful too. Very peaceful
He was the same age as my grandmother they went to the same school together and have a photo of them somewhere in boxes in the garage apparently he was good friends with my uncle Keith my grandmother's youngest brother, Richie was a great guy I heard, just so sad he died so young my grandmother did say she attended Ritchies funeral 💔 😢 my grandmother was going to get buried in the same cemetery as Ritchie but we decided to take my grandmother back home to San Diego where she's from she passed away 1994 😢
Hi Scott I remember my dad used to listen to them a lot as I was growing up and the songs just resonated. As I heard you sing a few notes LOL anywho, thank you again, that was cool.
Rest in peace to all for four victims of that tragic day in music. Well done on this video, Scott. I have to tell you, that you set the standard, in my opinion, on vlogging (I hope that's the correct term). Anytime I watch another vlogger, they have to really out do themselves to reach "Scott On Tape" quality. That's not to take away from what they do, and the work they put into it, but you are the best, in my opinion. Safe travels, brother!
I agree Scott your crash site video is my all time favourite. The way you handled it, you evoked the memories of that time, I got totally lost in it. I recommend everyone who tunes in to your channel watch it again.❤
I agree.. RIP Buddy, Big Bopper and Richi 🙏🙏 This is my era and remember hearing about this horrible accident. THANK YOU SCOTT for being so respectful!! Happy trails, stay safe, luv ya😊❤
Hi Scot it breaks my heart when I thank of what happened to there's three they were absolutely very very talented singers and are truly missed may they All Rest in peace 😥😥💔💔🙏🙏
Rest in peace to all of these great artist. It is amazing how young they were and looked so much older. No disrespect. Thank you Scott for the beautiful tribute. 🙏🏻❤️🇺🇸 rest in peace to the pilot. Very sad
What a great video Scott! I think the old casket should be in a museum. I can't imagine it being anywhere else. I love how the family put up a monument which makes it easier for fans to find him. It tells me they were very proud of him. So many celebrities don't want to be found though so seeing this is really nice. Either way though, people should do it the way they want regardless of the fans. Final wishes should always be followed and respected. It's kind of sad that the Big Boppers son had to see his dad for the first time like that. It's really neat to see the home of Ritchie Valens mothers house and I love the chickens too! What a pretty church his service was held at. Ritchie and his mother have a beautiful headstone. I can only imagine her pain when she lost him. I love the first house of Buddy Holly's that you showed. What a sunning statue too! Buddy and his sister have beautiful stones too. I wasn't even 4 months old when they died, and they died on my daughter's birthday. Scott, this video was just so cool!! You couldn't have done it any better. RIP to all of these legends who will live on forever to us who are left here on earth. 💗💙💜💐💐💐
Can you imagine the success these young men would have had in the music industry, had they lived!! Thank you Scott- always a great day when you drop a video. So appreciate you!! ❤
Scott....you have NOT done a lot of "clunkers" as you say! Your respectful, kind and just an all around sweetheart! I LOVE watching your video,s! Keep up the great work!❤❤❤❤
As always, so much respect you show. What a wonderful tribute to such monumental men. Anyone who is a fan of popular music, no matter the genre, owes these men many thanks and appreciation and respect. I hope this video of yours, Scott, is seen by many who have yet to learn the significance these men gave to the groundwork of popular music. And they share their newfound appreciation, and hopefully more to come newly learned facts, with future generations. Thanks and praise from Peterborough Ontario Canada 🇨🇦❤️
Great Video Scott 🎶 Love the stuff you do ... Im a huge Buddy Holly fan ! Great stuff as usual! Best wishes from the UK 🇬🇧 🎙🎶🎙
No way bro. This right here is MY stuff. I honestly didn’t think anyone cared anymore. These 3 artists inspired me to play guitar all the way back in 1987 when I saw La Bamba at the drive in theater & I’ve been obsessed since. I’ve got the newspaper as well as both the Crickets’ 1st album & Ritchies 1st album (although it’s a 2nd issue post-mortem in 1959) hanging on my wall in my office. I have a gold Buddy Holly record on my wall as well as a re-print of their last show poster from the Surf Ballroom that I bought AT the Surf ballroom.
Once again, my friend, an amazing video. I wasn't even born until 1970 but I remember my parents talking about these 3 fantastic musicians. Their music was so beautiful. Thank you for all you do.
Thank you Scott. I was in middle school when I went to La Bamba. I knew the music, but not the full story. I was with one of my closest friends and we watched the movie while in a theater in Fargo ND. You heard a collective groan when they talk about flying to Fargo. So much talent was lost that night.
A fantastic video Scott! Well put together mate. I grew up in my teens listening to Buddy’s music. The plane crash always stayed with me growing up, Such a tragic event 😢 Long live their music and legacy! ❤
Great video Scott! This happened way before I was born! I saw movies about Buddy Holly , Richie Valens and The Big Bopper. I love their music! Did a Drill Team routine to La Bomba in High School. Rip

Great video Scott. I visited the crash site in 2015 and that along with the Surf Ballroom was quite amazing and kind of surreal. Thanks for the memory.
Love this! Thank you for showing the fellas some love! I always go back to your Ritchie video from a few years ago. I also agree it’s one of your best.

@@laheart1957 no . The body is going to decomp is going to happen no matter how good or bad a body is embalmed .
Superb......as always. Thank you from Bakewell in Derbyshire, England.
Hey I'm from San Fernando, grew up listening to them with my dad. I always pass by Ritchie's grave when I visit my nephew at the cemetery.
A long, long time ago I can still remember how that music used to make me smile...thank you Scott for the lovely memorial

Went to the Surf Ballroom and the crash site a few weeks ago. Well worth the 8 hour drive.
Great video. Roger Peterson is buried at Buena Vista Memorial Park Cemetery in Storm Lake Iowa in case people were wondering.

There needs to be a biopic about The Big Bopper. His son (only child I believe) died of few years ago.
