Give it 10 10 10 with micronutrients. About a handful per plant.

I live in Miami. When would you consider spring? My palms haven’t been fertilized in at least a year. Can I start now in early January?

    Hey Chadd,
I have a Phoenix roebelenii (Pigmy Date Palm) with 3 trunks that I planted in 2021. I had done a decent job fertilizing it but It appears 2 of the 3 trunks have died out due to crown rot and have stopped producing growth. Would you recommend cutting these off to the root ball?

Yes. Unfortunately, they are done for!!!

I have an amazing 20 foot silver bismark in my front yard. The ends of the palm fronds get frayed and die off. The root ball is large and mounded up above the ground level by about 12 inches and has little soil retention. Is this adding to its health issues and is this fertilizer guide applicable for a tree of its size?

The root ball being so large and out of the ground should not affect it. I know it looks weird but should have no effect. If anything fertilizering 4 to 5 times a year might be more effective with the size of the palm. A minimum of three

    Hey Chadd
Isn't 6lbs of fertilizer per application per tree a lot? I thought that the amount of fertilizer to apply was based on trunk circumference?
On the back of the bag of fertilizer you referenced PalmGain it states 4 cups per 16 to 20ft tree every 4 to 6 weeks.
I have 3 foxtail palms in a mulch bed. They were planted in a triangle pattern about 8ft apart.
My local nursery sold me Sure-Gro fertilizer for palms 12-4-12, apply at 1.5lbs per 100 sq ft. Will that work?

The circumstance does and doesn't matter. Palms need a lot of food. And with low amounts of macros, it won't hurt. Recommendation came straight from UF/IFAS for palm fertilization. It's also not a bad idea to follow the instructions on the bag because I'm sure those blends are made to be used that way. I wish that was something I thought of and added it in the video.

I have grass growing up to my palms. Will this much fertilizer burn my grass?

As long as you spread it evenly, it will not burn. It's low Nitergeon and slow release. It will make the grass very green for a bit.
