Very Helpful! I'm was born in Manchester and moved to Peru a long time ago, now I'm an English teacher for kindergarten students, thank you so much for your videos! 🤗
Hi Isabellea, thanks so much for watching and welcome to the Mooncake community! I'm so glad the channel has been helpful 😊 Are schools open in Peru open right now or have you had to switch to online teaching?
Mooncake English everything is closed and the ministry of education has said that schools will be closed all year, the academic year in Peruvian schools start in March and end in December, so we’ll be closed all year! 😱😱
Hi Gemma, so pleased to have found you! I'm also a Brit, but have been in Japan for 16 years. These days, only a part of my income is from English teaching...but it's still "a part", and my brain went into meltdown when I was asked to re-start preschooler classes after 10+ years only teaching Junior/Senior High schoolers & adults! Hi Si, thanks for watching and welcome to the Mooncake community! It's certainly a shock to the system to teach young learners after teaching older students for such a long time. I'm glad the video was helpful and hopefully inspired some new ideas 😊
Hello, thank you so much for the video. All your videos are fun, practical and interesting. If you don't mind, I need some warm-up activities for a demo lesson. I get shy in front of the camera, so it's better to avoid songs & dances please ( I can do those in class but at home with a camera is kinda weird ), so just some games, thanks a bunch!
Hi Ayoub, thanks so much for watching and welcome to the Mooncake community! I'm so happy you have found the channel helpful 😊 What age group is the demo for? I have a list of online games and tips here: ruclips.net/p/PLWnDxOCiXGiq85RYiM9_eMH93wznDuIi5 and a list of classroom ESL games here: ruclips.net/p/PLWnDxOCiXGiogZeUwN0QRuNilwjR0xIY0 that you might be able to adjust for online teaching. But it all depends on what age group you are targeting. If you are teaching young learners then I still recommend songs and chants, as these are great tools for keeping students engaged. If you're shy, you can stick to chants instead of songs and practice before the demo. I would film yourself several times to help you get over the camera shy feeling. No-one has to see the videos, you can delete them right away! But just practicing will help you feel more comfortable in front of the camera. I hope that all helps!
@@MooncakeEnglish Thank you for your prompt response! Students are 6-12 years old. Based on your answer, it seems that there's a difference between songs and chants. Care to explain what that is?
Hello Gemma ! Thank you for your helpful skills and I really like the rhythm you sang in your video! Would you mind if you could recommend any of way or resources we could learn these rhythms!
Hi, thanks so much for watching, I'm glad you liked the video! If you look up nursery rhymes in google you will find huge number of traditional rhymes. You can then find ones that suit the subject you're teaching or one that you think will work best for your class. I do try to post examples in my Instagram weekly to help give ideas on how to add TPR and chants, so be sure to follow me there 😊
Very helpful! Tks for sharing! And how about face to face classes, already started in China? Here, in Brazil, we believe that 2020 will be all on line. Help! How to mantain the good energy during so much time?!
Hi Leticia, thanks for watching and welcome to the Mooncake community! I think that schools are. open across the country with the exception of Beijing where there was a recent outbreak. Hopefully we will be opening schools here by September though 😊 I have a playlist for online teaching tips that I am always adding to, hopefully that will help.
