Kind of a late comment but you really should use BSMOD stun and death mod for the npc battles, it not only makes it more entertaining but more challenging for both teams, even if the enemy is way way stronger or more by getting stunned alot can turn the tables real quick giving the weaker team a chance. And overall it’s just a fun mod

Use zippys improved combine for striders gunships and hunter choppers that don't need air nodes and strider nodes

Thanks for the question, but probably not my expertise. I don't modify anything for the NPC's, except the health and weapons. Everything comes in the addons I download. I believe that there are some addons that make NPC's charge instead of staying in one spot.

Whats the best way to script npcs to run to certain areas, defend etc?

The only tool I use is the Patrol STool @ steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=624692150 to direct NPC's to a certain area. I use it in a lot of my videos ( kudos to the maker ).
I don't use any other tools that make them "defend" or stay at one point.
I know there are some addons out there that do such. You could try finding some.

@@AntiCitizen2 If you are referring to the "dialogue" parts, simple Disable Thinking for the NPCs.
If you want to make some of the soldiers go to a spot and stay put, use this mod: steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=624692150
Fairly easy to use and it has been a staple in my videos. Just edit the "Wait time."
