You forgot about the 10,000 Miles from Venture X, worth $100. So the effective annual fee is (-$5). You'll get $5 in your pocket just for having this card and travel lightly !!!
The 300 credit isn't worth 300. Since it's a coupon through C1 travel portal, your only option really is to buy flights, as hotels tend to have very inflated prices on the portal. But now you lose the 5x on flights, ie you lost at least $15. In other words, the 300 credit is worth at most 285, and potentially even less (in particular, the travel portal sometimes doesn't show all flight availability, especially the cheapest flights).
@@andrewzhang5345 How do you lose $15 off the travel credit because C1 doesn't reward back at 5x? Its just you don't get the 1500 miles with that credit. Also C1 does price match if you find a better fare after you book it (but you still are using the credit anyway, you do get that decrease in back it a credit to your mileage bank. I will agree that the hotels may not be the cheapest on the portal, but that wasn't the case for me on a recent trip. Yeah, we were nerfed a bit on the bill credit vs. coupon, but it didn't bother me, but at least I'm not paying $550 or $695 for lounge access (and all the other hoops you jump through to get positive value from the AF from the other premium travel cards).
This is such a great combo, and agreed with the growing number of transfer partners the Savor and VX combo is slept on. Awesome having all my major spend categories covered with only 2 cards.
Max please do a video on how to reserve a rental car with the Venture X. I wonder is it better to book through the portal or directly from Hertz online? Also could use your guidance to make sure I’m not missing out on any of the perks in the process of renting. 🤓
@@TheAndyzillawhat partner to you transfer to in order to fly on JAL? I know about using Amex to fly on ANA, but would be nice to know what I can use to fly to Japan with C1
@@jpking0 I'm going to use cathay. Business are 89k points and first are 130k iirc. But you can transfer 70% of the value of the redemption and buy off the remaining points.
@@jpking0 Would be any Avios x-fer partner, then most likely to Iberia. What's strange for me is that I can't actually book any JAL flights using the Iberia/ExecClub, but I can see the availability, unless it's phantom. If I choose anything other than Economy (Premium Economy, Business or First) then I end up with an error. First class I can understand restricting, *and maybe J class*, but premium economy seems like an odd choice to me for restricting.
What’s the difference between the Savor and Savor One, I just got an email saying I’m pre approved for the Savor and I already have the VX. Is one better than the other ?
Any idea if the free Uber membership for Savor One will be gone or renewed in November? Huge benefit that’s a big loss to the value of that card if not.
Chase isn't great for those particular two, unless you use like Walmart+ sub and order exclusively online for pickup. Gas is a rotational category. If gas/groceries is your thing (which it is for me) then Citi Strata Premier is where you want to go. The x-fer partners (for airlines) are largely similar, but there are a couple airlines that don't overlap. I have this specific combination (as well as Chase Trifecta), which I rarely use the Chase Trifecta other than Doordash. I will say that if you Costco, the Citi card WILL NOT WORK there. I think the only Citi card that would work is their costco co-branded citi card. That's why I use the VX for Costco (including the Costco gas). If you spend over $9,500 in gas per year, then you gain economic benefit with Citi Premier 3x on gas vs VX 2x on everything.
With Venture X you can President's Circle (which was actually renewed, thankfully). The other's I've used a bit, but Hertz with the Circle perk definitely adds value especially with the ease of picking up and dropping off (aside from the pandemic era where it was slim pickings everywhere). It's literally make a res online, walk on the lot, pick out your car, drive off, then drop off.
This Hertz perk ends Dec 31, 2024 from what I’m seeing. Gave me pause when considering the VX but I will probably still go ahead and apply. With that said, is there a set time period when offers are refreshed for the VX or does it just depend on the perk?
This is very helpful. I got the Capital Venture X card and I also have Chase Sapphire card as well. I am planning to visit Korea in June and looking to book for Asiana Airlines. What is the best way to maximize points have from both cards to book flights? Appreciate your suggestions.
BUMMER -- "Effective January 1, 2025, Venture and Spark Miles cardholders will no longer receive complimentary lounge access. Venture and Spark Miles cardholders have 2 complimentary visits to the Capital One Lounge or Plaza Premium Lounges to use by December 31, 2024." Back in 2022, I was able to use my Cap One Venture to use the lounge in DFW. But now they're taking this perk away by the end of the year. :(

So I want to maximize my Marriott Bonvoy points for a vacation. I know I can transfer Amex points directly to Marriott, but I also have many Capital One / Bilt Points. Can I transfer my Capital one / Bilt points to a transfer parter (ie Air Canada), and then re- transfer miles from Air Canada to Marriott Points?
I am wondering if the rental car insurance from the VX is for world wide. We are planing to rent a car in Jeju Island Korea this up coming trip, the insurance options provided by the car rental company is very confusing. If VX covers it then we can waive the ones from the rental company. Thanks
As far as I know it'll cover Jeju car rental as long as you meet the requirements. This is a good article that outlines some of the coverage the Capital One Venture X covers: www.nerdwallet.com/article/travel/capital-one-venture-x-car-rental-insurance
Yup you can combine points with different capital one miles accounts. Captial one is one of the banks that has the most lenient policy when it comes to moving capital one miles from member to member
Air Canada, Avianca, British Airways, Cathay, Flying Blue, Turkish and Virgin are all great transfer partners. I can't remember the last time I transferred Amex or Chase points to a domestic airline since domestic airlines are bookable via most of the partner airlines listed above. I would have to agree that Capital One doesn't have any good hotel transfer partners though.

Was going to say that. That makes the first set-up basically free if you utilize the ANNUAL $300 travel credit and cash out the 10k points every year.
