  • The doctor who helped catch child-killer Lucy Letby has told ITV News that babies' lives could have been saved if hospital bosses had contacted police sooner.
Dr Ravi Jayaram, who is a consultant paediatrician at the Countess of Chester Hospital, said he repeatedly raised concerns about his former colleague months before police were alerted.
In an exclusive interview, he has detailed to ITV News how executives at the top of the organisation at the time told him to “draw a line” under his suspicions and to apologise to Lucy Letby for his accusations.

I'm an MD in Canada and it is the SAME here, the management has all the power and are accountable to no one. Narcissistic, immoral bureaucrats. I've faced bullying from them.
What these doctors faced would 100% have happened in ANY hospital in the Western hemisphere. The killer b** is going to jail thank God, but them? never a shadow of a consequence.
Parents of dead children, please sue these managers into oblivion.
Oh and btw, nurses are unionized. Their unions are powerful, even against the management. Doctors have no recourse. You may be amazed to her this, but we are absolutely defenseless, as our College is only there to sanction us, never, under no circumstance, are they there to support us in any way.

You can see that Dr Ravi Jayaram is a deeply empathetic, intelligent, and proactive doctor - everything a doctor/healthcare worker should be. It's astonishing that the board seemed to have gone out of their way to take the side of a nurse when multiple highly experienced consultants had raised very serious concerns. I hope everyone involved can heal from this.

These "attacks" were reported to span the period running from June 2015 to June 2016. At the time, nobody suspected Lucy Letby of wrong-doing.
    Two facts for starters:
It was ONLY after the consultants who were running the neonatal unit became the subject of a critical report from the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH) that they went on to file a report with the police alleging the infant deaths were due to the actions of nurse Lucy Letby...
In all but one case, the infants received autopsies and the coroner found that they died of natural causes...

In the overall scheme of things, Lucy Letby was a very young nurse with just a few years experience at the onset of the murders. She graduated in 2011, took a post basic certification, and then worked full time from 2012-2016, which is not that long compared to the experience of a neonatologist who has worked since 1992. The combined experience of the concerned doctors and nurses would have been decades long, yet the management blindly supported a nurse whose activities raised alarm bells within short time after she graduated. They too are culpable in the deaths of the babies.

It is shocking to think that NHS bosses would rather let a serial killer continue working rather than admit there is problem in case it harmed their reputation. This tells you all you need to know about the NHS as it stands today. They kill more people by refusing to refer patients for treatment because waiting lists are too long, and those who make it onto the waiting lists are dying because they are not treated on time, so a few babies dying is not going to make any difference to them. But if you wave some cash at them, you can jump the queue and be seen and treated within a couple of weeks. I won’t mention the state of NHS dentistry which practically doesn’t exist anymore. 😇
