I’ve been a tattoo artist for 7 years now. I started shooting film with a Canon A1 like 4 years ago, now I own a Fuji xpro2, Pentax 645n, Canon 80D, Olympus Pen ft and the A1 still and I have to say man I watched all of your reviews on those and now I’m diving hard into photography man.. your humbleness is so fucking inspiring 🙌🏻
That's really sad about your negatives. Keep up the great work Matt. Love your content and your name always comes up when someone asks me about photography.
As aways a great video matt. I don't know if you realise it but your channel is a constant source of inspiration, at least for me, I evolved in my photography thanks to your work (making it more personal for the most part), forever grateful for that man
this is hands down the best photography channel Ive been apart of. And Matt, im pumped to see your enthusiasm for the future and if you need any help, I'd like to throw my name out there!
I gave up because I have a ton of other things going on. Film is expensive locally, the developing too, for developing at home I need to invest a lot of money and Instax is a hustle. The camera could fail, a service is always good, you can upgrade the focusing screen and other things etc. Basically a money pit.
@@westsenkovec not gonna lie, all hobbies are money pits lol. I get where you’re coming from though. I’ve sunk a good amount of money into photography and I enjoy doing it.
Great video Matt, and good to hear about your future plans, since I somewhat missed your own photography in your videos lately. As for starting medium format I can also recommend the GDR-made Pentacon 6. It's a bit clunky and also prone to mirror shake when using slow shutter speeds, but it is rather cheap (at least in Europe) and frequently available second hand. The interchangeable ZEISS lenses are very good and the camera is not too heavy. Still happy to see you fully recovered and back on track!
My routine is pick up my Nikon FE 55mm 2.8 ais macro with Tri X film. Go and shoot places and things in my area. Come back and develop in Rodinal 1to 50. Print in the darkroom using a Schneider Componon S 50mm lens. Make 7x5 greetings cards for my own use and to give and sell to friends. Or, grab my Rolleicord Va with Portra 400 film shoot, get it processed at my local lab. Come home, scan the best negs on my Epson V600 and print the best. Comments on the Yashica Mat, the Yashinon lens is OK but not up to the quality of Rollei lenses ime
Oh lord! I almost went up in flames when my mom told me that she thrown away all or dia-films from my childhood. We got most of them scanned, at a very poor quality jpeg, but I would really love to have them. Really makes me sad. I can really feel you on your toss of those negatives. Hugs /Robert
Hey Matt!, Could you share your digital file management/ storage setup? Like what device are you using for archives, current projects, and when you are traveling or outstation. Thanks a lot!
I'm actually enjoying the 150mm lens the most on the Mamiya6. I wish there was a 90mm-ish one though.I am usually not close enough to my subjects on the street so a little longer length would be great :/
sorry to be off topic but does someone know of a way to log back into an instagram account..? I somehow lost my account password. I appreciate any help you can offer me!
@Ira Christian I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site on google and I'm trying it out now. I see it takes quite some time so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Was thinking the same - sounds fucking great. I'd say it's a shotgun on camera or boomed in, you can hear 'some' background stuff which would make me think it's on camera, but now I'm second guessing because it sounds so goooood.
I kinda disagree about the Mat-124G, it's getting more and more expensive and it has been for years. I bought one (and sold it, like an idiot) back in 2016 for just a little over $100. One in similar condition would probably be $350 now
Hey dear I loved your set of lighting and simplicity of narration for subjects ... even this video I loved audio quality again ... may I know the audio recording device in details please ...?
Likewise, all I have in terms of my early film prints is the 6 X 4's I got when they were developed. Didn't realise the importance of the negatives back then which I regret to this very day 😞
I regret giving my rolls of film to my local Walmart when I started to learn about film photography. Sure, they processed them and gave me a CD, but man to have been able to scan the negatives at a better resolution would have been something... At least the next year after were some of my favorites and I still have those
Phil Knall they never gave me my color negative 35mm ones. They’ll give back 35mm slides and all 120 negatives but they never gave me my Fuji Superia negatives.
Phil Knall yeah, it’s kind of a mix of feelings as I liked some of the lomo, shaky stuff that my crappy camera (and my crappy technique :) )put out onto those old negatives, but at least I moved on to develop and scan at home with MUCH better results
Will you be going out and shooting soon or will you be focusing more as a talking head? Not a rant or complaint just curious since your trying to monetize the channel more for income.
Randy Pollock Absolutely! I just filmed a little walk around shooting video yesterday, just need to get the film processed so I can edit it together. Wish I had someone who could regularly film me while I’m shooting! Might be able to find someone soon.

I'm glad I got a Mamiya 7II a few years ago...crazy prices right now. But I would still purchase it today, it's that good :)

My question is getting its own video.... hell yeah!

Got dammit Matt, I've been looking on eBay for the 124 for days. Edit that part out until I get a cheap one.
The prices are going up because of this video. After 7 hours. dOpE

Mamiya C330 baby! Really passes the cut bar!

Ah, the negatives from years past. I did the same thing 😩
My brother kept mine(he scanned them). Im forever thanksful for that
Hey Matt, thanks for answering my question! Great video!
Wally Hernandez thanks for sending your question in!
I just heard mamiya 6 prices go up a little more, still a great bargain though. Keep up the good work, almost at 100k!!
Kelvin Clancy just like that Lomo 800 lol
Kelvin Clancy Haha, nahhh the Mamiya 7 is still hogging the spotlight.
Another amazing video!!

Such good answers! Just be a good person. Seems like common sense but so many people in the industry with bad attitudes!

Here for the Charlie snores.
Get a Mamiya 6MF and all set of lens!! gonna use in the future travel
Mamiya7 just has too many lens...
Man, the audio is so good here. Is this just from a shotgun mic on the camera?

Brian Lackey legend. Thanks! Solid film making techniques & a wicked photographer - what can’t this man do.

Would be really nice if you did some night photography with the pentax 67. Really interested in that.

third watch through, and I only just noticed the dog snoring xD
