This is a great DIY shop project. This folding workbench is fairly easy to build and adds to the organization of any garage or shop.
I am not a carpenter, but I am a keen woodworking hobbyist and "Do it your self'er," and I have to tell you that you certainly did a great job there. You made it look so simple, (and I guess it is really,) but a beautiful well thought out job nevertheless. I guess a lot of people will be copying your idea.
Thanks for sharing it with us. Ed
: ) Thank you Ed.

Ok
I wish you were my neighbor... (I actually need a folding work surface like that).
You have great energy.
April excellent project ..simple and practical......Congratulations
I love this fold down work bench. I'm going to make one in my camper as a dining table in my camper. Thank you for being so helpful. You are a unique person, not trying to climb to the top on the back of others but by lifting others up with you to create a money flow which in return will come back to you eventually. Thank you and keep up the great ideas!
Thank you! I'm glad you found it useful. Thanks for watching.
I really enjoy the simplicity of this build yet no lack of quality. You are mine and my daughters favorite woodworker.
Looks great Mrs. April, I've been arguing with my son ( typical 17 y/o ) over the usefulness of a fold down workbench. I had him watch this and he finally agrees with me. Simple yet effective.
Your son should listen to you better! My sons argue with me too...simply because I'm a woman.
Just wanted to let you know my nephew and I just built a very large one for my home business! 68"x42" to be exact. I had to do a few things different to make it work out right, but for the most part I used your way of building it. My wife and I both sat on it and held us. I being 6'4" at 290lbs. and her being around 100lbs at 5'6" That will hold anything I ever need to put on it!
Other than scaling up the wood and brackets, did you do anything else special? I need to put a drill press, small metal brake, belt sander and small band saw on mine. Thank you!
Get on the bench and get her to sit on it. Report back.
Great project April, I really like the design. Works great in the shop or in a small house or apartment.
Thanks Jon.

hindi how to make folding dinnig table
FANTASTIC IDEA TO DO IN THE KITCHEN AND LAUNDRY, FOR NOT OCCUPING SO MUCH SPACE
Quick, interesting and great choice and modulation of music.
Nice bench - I liked that you left a clamping space around the perimeter - I can't think how people cope with a workbench that you can't clamp to
I agree....clamping space on a workbench is very useful.
This is going to be my first project in my new Lockdown Shed!
1. Awesome Diresta hat!
2. Recently heard about you from the Drunken Woodworker and instantly binge watched your videos.
Nothing is cooler than a woman with power tools!
I am delighted with his way of working, simple, practical, easy, fast. It is incredible of all the tools that you Americans have. I love you Miss April, continue with these videos that are a source of inspiration for many.
Very cool. That is one of the two things every garage needs. A fold-down table and utility sink. Thanks for the instructions.
Solid project and video, nicely done!
Really nice. :)
But at 2:13 I said yay.
Thanks John, I appreciate it.
well done always enjoy your vids
I want to create this but with space to hang my tools behind the table top. Instead of a 2x4 for the base, what could I use to make 2 inches for the table and about 4 inches for my tools section? Any advice?
Thank You for this video. You have inspired me to do my own folding work table in my basement. Thanks a lot 👏👏👏
Pretty sweet. I think I'm going to use this as part of my outfeed table for my table saw, thanks...
Nice idea
Wow my son just bought a new house and told him I was going to build a work table for him but he doesn't have the room this is perfect really cool!
Very handy, even to put into a bedroom where you can save floor space when u don't need the desk any more
I followed this a few years back for my wife’s craft house works great
Awesome! Thank you for Sharing that and for watching.
I like your old shop as it has character. I like your new TV show too. Nice of you to let Tim and Richard hang out ... great project. Works good for grandkids rooms as well.
Thanks! I have limited garage space and need a work bench. I'm new to wood working and hope to make this my first project.
awesome! Looks great.. thanks for the shout out.
Great Job, I made something like this for my 3 daughters to use for homework and whatever after the homework was done. My set up was about 6' that way each one had room to work or play, the legs were hinged and cut to fit where the wall and floor met. Brought back memories, you did a great job on the table & video, SEMPER FI
: ) Thank you
Hello I am Awais I am carpenter from pakistan can I work with u ??
Wow. A woman who is smart, articulate, handy, and good looking to boot. Subscribed.
Very nice and simple to make it. Thank you for share this woodworking idea.
Love this bench, I’m doing mine next week on my day off, thanks for the step by step tutorial. ❤️❤️
Excellent shop table and build video. I'm glad your feeling better and back in the shop.
Regards,
Bob
Thanks Bob!
Really like that idea!
Great project April, I love fold-down tables, perfect for the shop - or in a small kitchen too! :)
@Peyton Gary instablaster :)
@@bradleyjax452 .
Excellent and you gave me solution to how to attach my desk to the wall. Thank you.
I like the part where she drilled towards her lef. Im copying this project tho. Awesome job
Great video April loved the look of your first fold down bench so nice to see it all explained. These look really handy for using in small workshops like mine. Dressed trendy for woodworking too, about time I got one of them Diresta hats. Keep up the great vids.
Perfect for my wife's planting needs
Great video! Very simple design yet very effective. Thanks for sharing! BTW, I like you video creating style. Straight to the point and very informative.
Thanks. : ) I appreciate the feedback.
I'll be making two of these side by side for my wife and mother's sewing room. Very cool.
Wife and mother separately. My wife is not my mother.
Though she would tell you differently.
To answer an obvious question with a equally obvious answer, because you put it there! love your fold down bench.
I was just telling myself I needed a workbench for my garage but I still want to park the cars in there too. Then "poof," RUclips gives me this vid as suggested. Looks like I've got some work for next weekend!
The Lawn Care Nut - POOF ... really?? ...my gay magical friend.
Whoa. This is the first time I've seen a youtube celebrity's comment outside of their channel.
cool and simple project, this could also be standing-laptop fold-able desk!
That was very cool. Your videos are informative and easy to understand.
really, I thought they were lacking in just about every way possible!!! seriously I just a piece of scrap for this then measured this for that then assembled that, with out exactly saying anything about what the hell she was actually doing. if I was a beginner not knowing what I was doing I would have been in teas. luckily just watching her was enough, because listening to her was a complete waste of time. she said nothing that was useful.
I need one for my laundry room and this is the easiest one I have found. Thank you so much for the video
Glad it was helpful!
Very well made and I am sure many will enjoy making it. Thanks
wow, you just make it look so easy ! I also wish you were my neighbor :-)
April, that is an outstanding idea. Love your video's.
Oh man. I thought for a second there at the end you were going to put the workbench down and do a Matthais Wandel strength test. Looks great April!
: ) Well....here is a video I posted after I built my first one a year ago....ruclips.net/video/7C6mY7CACPQ/видео.html I did a little test and since it's held up fine I knew this one was good.
April Wilkerson Ahhh, I had not seen that video. That seems plenty strong.
True woodworker. You are quick to improvise for customization and economy. Excellent job in both construction and education.
Thank you very much!
I just finished building this to use as an extra workbench for my painting and frame making. Directions are great, worth getting. Thank you for putting this on here!!! A very sturdy space saver!!
Awesome! Great to hear! Thank you for sharing and for watching.
Smart and Beautiful
i need to move next door to april so she can build stuff for me. lol "i asked him if i could build if for him." "ok!"
looks nice, table's not bad either.
I built a miter saw station and quickly realized I need a work table as well. Definitely using this as a guide. Thank you
Decent video! Straight to the point and is actually useful. Perfect for what I need. Thank you!
Thanks! Glad you found it useful. Thanks for watching.
Love this idea. Im a car guy who loves to woodwork. With a 1 car garage, I dont have space for a monster work bench and to store my car in the winter. Best of both worlds.
Very cool idea! I have Cancer and im very limited on what i can do physically, but im falling in love with woodworking (small stuff) i need a workbench and your design is perfect for my needs!!! Thanks!! BE SAFE,GOD BLESS!🇺🇸🙏
I was looking for more women who build stuff from scratch, when I found your channel!
I shared it on to my Facebook page. Thank you for providing quality content.
I love that grin you get when plan comes together. I need this in my shop.
Love to see a lady that can handle herself around the shop...bravo
Very well done! I have a small garage with limited space and your excellent video makes it look possible. Thanks.
Thanks! I'm glad you found it useful. Thanks for watching.
I recently built this work bench. I love how it turned out. I selected it because I loved the overall design, flexibility and simplicity of the design. I purchased the reasonably priced plans from her website. While I found some minor errors on the plans, they were easily noticed and correctable. A couple tips: April's plans call for a work height of around 30 3/4", I think you will find most work benches and kitchen counters heights at 34-36"--a more comfortable work height in my opinion. Also, my garage has 24" on center wall studs. I wanted a 3' wide (wall) by 4' outward bench. In order for me to catch at least two studs I had to adjust the bench width to a minimum of 3 1/2 feet (42"). Great video & design, April!,
April, I recently finished my folding workbench and I added a second stop block. It saves do much space in the garage and has gotten it's use. I purchased a drill press and the jaw horse watching your videos. Thx, and you ROCK!
I bought the plans from April's wilkerdos site and had my son build this in my garage. I LOVE this workbench. Love it.
Great! Glad you're enjoying it. Thanks for the feedback! Cheers!
Exactly the type of thing I’ve been thinking in my head. Just needed a visual to show my husband. Great video!
Brilliant. Its given me a good idea about how I will tackle the fold down work bench in my garage. Thank you again, Mark.
Awesome! Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching.
This girl is in another level! Excellent work girl!
I saw this plan last winter 2022. As I have no indoor shop, I had to wait until this summer to build it. I used an oil based stain on it as it will be out in the weather under a roof eave. Great video. I do have one suggestion. It shows you bringing the table down and then attaching the leg brace from underneath. Since I am 80, I merely put the table on the wall and then attached the bar across the legs with pocket hole screws. 😉
I made this a couple months ago for my laundry room. Total game changer having a work surface there.
I just finished a stand alone garage and need a work bench for it . This is just what I need and I can use some of that left over wood along with some pallets I am taking apart so cost should be near zero THANK YOU ! I like to re cycle Bob in Michigan
Great job (on the bench and the Vid!) a handy tip: use screen-door spring latches to hold the bench in the up position on the wall.
Just discovered your website today. Your videos are awesome. Presented very well...you are a pro.Thank you.
You ROCK GIRL!!!-I was just telling my neighbor I wish I had gone to a construction school. I LOOOVE DOING STUFF LIKE THIS FOR MY HOME!! Girls rock, we REALLY CAN DO Just about anything!!!💕💖💗💗💕
I especially like that you added the stop block on the legs. Great idea.
I just installed a 10x10’ Tough Shed and I’ve thought about putting in a wall bench for potting or tools or whatever. Thanks for the video, it gives me something to work with!
Awesome! Glad you found it useful. Thanks for watching.
Just love the simplicity of that design with the stop and piano hinge. I got to build one!
You are not only the Hammer. Your are the whole Toolbox! :) Greetings from Germany, Markus
I like the simplicity and practicality of your design. Thanks for sharing!
The best fold-down bench I've seen yet. Bravo.
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching.
Thank you for your awesome job . I am a beginner wood making projects and I need a table just like the one you build. I appreciate your skills thank you the video👏👍
Awesome! I'm glad you found it useful. Enjoy the build, learn from any mistakes and remember you can do anything you set your mind to. :) Thanks for watching.
I was just thinking of building one like this at my son's garage. Nice timing!
Good idea for any project that needs a flat surface and is not permanent.
Hello. After watching multiple tutorials for a folding workbench, I retain yours which has a more solid design, especially for the legs and their locking mechanism. I don't speak English well, but I understood your assembly method correctly. Thank you for sharing your know-how. Cordially. Francis (France). Thanks to Google for the translation.
Awesome, thank you! Thanks for watching. :)
i like that, because it`s simple, easy and solid. thanks for sharing
EXACTLY what I needed. You make things look so easy, but this one actually was easy. THANKS
I am deff giving this a go tomorrow on my day off thanks for the step by step
I built your rolling lumber cart, and have been following your channel. You have great ideas, and are very articulate when explaining things to those that may not be as talented as you are. Keep up the good work, and thanks for your great videos.
You are a creative woman, your product is very practical to life, I love your work!
Proud of my 4x6 fold up workbench after watching April’s awesome video.
Hello Maim, I super love your DYI folding table. You make it so Easy breezy and instrumental. You are by far a Master Craft Woman.Keep on building and teach.❤
Fit and finish is top notch right there. I will use this video as a guide for my fold down work bench.
Great fold-down! Will build mine tomorrow! Thanks April!
You are so welcome! Glad you found it useful. Thanks for watching.
Looks great. I’m thinking of building a couple fold down slatted benches for my greenhouse, so I can fold them down to have room to put my plant pots on the floor once the plants start growing tall.
That's a great idea! Thanks for sharing and for watching.
Everything is so easy for you April, bravo !
Very helpful. I just finished mine today. Your video helped me avoid some things that would have otherwise presented some complications. Much appreciated.
Hello April, I always watch your work here in Brazil, very good, my father is a carpenter and said that you are an excellent professional. Congratulations.
I built one of those in the late 70s that would fit over a deep freezer. It was in the walk out basement of my condo. I filled the inside with pegboard to handle the most often used tools. The floor space was tiny but suddenly there was room for a freezer and a work surface with tools. I was sorry to leave it when we moved but it had impressed the buyer enough for a higher price.
I love this idea! I have a super full garage that I try to work in, but I have little work space. This is perfect. I can make this and then fold it up when I need to use that spot for something else.
Great project. Very well demonstrated and easy to understand. I am redoing my workshop and this is going to be part of it. Brains and Beauty....what a combo.
I'm going to use this concept to build a fold down bed for my Sprinter van. Thanks!
April Wow!!! You are very good and methodical. Great job
From watching this video I am planning to build a mobile table saw stand and a mobile mitersaw stand. I can then roll up to the folding table and use the table for outfeed. Thanks for the inspiration and I always enjoy watching your videos!!!
Awesome design! Easy to modify for whatever dimensions are needed. Put this together in an afternoon (something I should have done BEFORE I started a woodworking hobby during the pandemic)!
April,
Awesome video. I just recently bought a Pre - Fab shed and will be turning it into a small workshop. It is 11' x 16', and this project is just the ticket to conserve space. I have viewed other videos you have and you come up with some wonderful ideas, Thanx in advance for all the great work you do, your hubby should be very proud of you.
Sincerely,
Peter J. Brown
Great video!! I want to put one of these in my shed so I can utilize more storage during different seasons. I only wanted a table that folded down, was simple & didn't have a lot of various tool 'hangers', if you will. I've been watching a bunch of videos (that were very, or much more, complicated). This is Exactly what I was looking for. Thank you. I love the leg brace you attached too, and why you attached it!! I don't think I would've thought of this 🙃💞👍
Awesome! Glad it was helpful. Thanks for watching.
