We throw a Quick Performance 9" rear end and a complete Butler Performance top end kit on our Pontiac 350 including a roller cam and aluminum heads. Will it make big power, or will it be a big bust?

Dalton, I'm sure I'm speaking for most of your viewers when I say we sincerely appreciate your hard work
I enjoy them very much
Totally agree.
Great Channel!!!
Absolutely
39:36 "you'll note that I am wearing gloves, that's not because I'm a bitch" Lmao I love these videos Dalton
I'm still not used to PBG videos this early in the week. Best $1 I've ever spent!
A few bucks more and you can ‘save the shop’!
Amen brother
Agreed
Same
Put a self tapper in that…
Not everyone is willing to show the mistakes and defeats, and I appreciate that you're willing to put the failures out there too. I'd love to see a future teardown and autopsy to show what went wrong. Seeing all those parts going into a successful build would make an excellent redemption arc.
The last time I “acquired” car parts they called it “Grand Theft.” 😂.
Lucky for me, the local junkyard has no fence around it. They don't sell any parts, they just CRUSH everything. Reservation life.
Low Buck Club paying off already with an early video.
ETA: Man, seeing him ditch the MLS gasket for an ole shitty paper gasket from who knows how may decades ago was a real head scratcher.
For dalton nothing is better than new old stock
This team-up is pure gold!
An hour and 41 minutes?????? I'm in heaven!
Must be and it’s Friday
@39:23 Dalton "Now thats a shaft".... thats what she said..... lmfao
You know PBG is the no money no problem channel, as to VGG being the if I had money channel. Thanks for keeping things realistic Dalton!!!! Your channel was my motivation to restore my 1971 boat.
That's awesome man
I don't even like watching VGG anymore and I have been a viewer for 3 years for the exact reason you just said.
Bro, a Butler top end is not Dollar Tree merchandise.
NEVER COLD STAND VGGs Baby talk! @joshuaprince898
Don’t let either channel fool you. There both loaded with cash
Foreshadowing Dalton was present during the entire engine teardown haha
Hate that guy
@@PoleBarnGarageThat guy hates you too. Apparently.
@@PoleBarnGarage budget blown????
Naw ...can't be... impossible...naww...
Hold up ..let me.get to the lecturn....
AND WITH THIS ...I REST MY CASE....
Don't be upset ...all I do is crunch the numbers..... I knew all along it wasn't that simple or cheap ...
That's why I would make the ziptie drags pure....
Dalton, your videos and your attitude, your ‘anybody can do it’ advice, has inspired me to close in my barn and get busy!! I can’t wait to hang the big screen so I can watch your videos in style and PEACE!!
Dalton, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!! Hope y'all had a great time. Can't tell you much I enjoy the videos. DJ and Jess are so helpful and supportive. Keep it up.
Nearly 2 hours of PBG? today's a good day
Yeah the torque wrench deal and the old head gaskets aren't a good recipe but i think the 350 has potential looking forward to seeing it return
Did... JD just say that none likes Blue Oyster Cult anymore? *GASP*
*_Dies of Old_*
He is not a veteran of a thousand psychic wars.
Thee best content and absolutely the most value for money I have ever come across.
You, JD, and Jess have the best humour. Keep doing what you're doing it is world class.
You and JD sanding a driveshaft with poppadoms or maybe naan breads 18:24. Different, maybe a bit bonkers as well but why not?
Sorry to hear about the head gasket! Thanks for the awesome content! You’ve inspired me to start working on old junk…recently just fixed up two 89 Honda ATVs. Working my way up to cars!
You always surprise us!
Man I’m 33 and I could’ve swore u we’re at least a few years older than just based on ur knowledge, it’s amazing all the little things u know man every time I watch a video I learn something. Keep it going my man!!
O'riely's: "Your lack of faith disturbs us. No sponsorship for you."
Gee willikers what a shame
Step #1 - look cool ✅
You are genuine. That is why you are putting out great content. You are the real deal. Thanks!
I appreciate that!
I had a 66 Chevelle I installed a 1968 Pontiac 350 / 4 speed (M21 Muncie), 3.55 posi 12 bolt rear from an SS 396.
I ran a flat tappet cam 286 adv. duration about .500" lift, 1966 389 heads, Edelbrock P4B intake, headers, Mallory distributor, and a Holley 650 double pumper. I also bought all of the engine stuff from a friend who destroyed his 66 goat - for $200...
At New England Dragway, it ran a mid 12 at 110 MPH.
I figure with the stuff you're running, it will be in the low 12s to high 11s.
Glad to see my one of my absolute favorite PBG cars is back! Make sure you give Birdsong a fair race now 🤣
I had a 66 Malibu with a Pontiac Lemans motor, turbo 400 transmission, and it was awesome.
Almost a 2 hour video? What a treat 💪🏻
Sorry about the 350 being junk, but you deserve a big block for duct tape 👍. Budget build on a tight timeline, what could go wrong. You'll need a vacation after this one😂
I like the fact that you're actually working on something for a real purpose. Not like other channels that buy cars just for content, " will it run", "Abandoned for 30 years"😂🤣
Been following the Facebook page and unfortunately I knew how this would end.
I love how you can say REGARDLESS in correct english and I hope you'll kick ass at DuctTape Drags.❤
Irregardless is very annoying. Also "could care less"
Man what a kick in the nuts! Sorry man I know the pain I feel for you and JD! I know you will overcome this obstacle. Can't wait to see what you do next!
The right person to blame for parts stores having junk parts is whoever is in charge of sourcing them. They chose the cheapest grade available, they chose to do no quality checks themselves and to pay for no checks at the supplier. Of course they did this to give the customer what they wanted, cheap stuff, competitive with what you get off Amazon/eBay. Everyone is doing it, summit, jegs, Holley themselves. It’s the race to the bottom!
Happy belated Birthday Dalton. Wishing I was that young again. Oh, the things I'd do differently. Give JD and Jess both a hug and tell them you love them more often than you think is normal.
As a side note on roller cams, put the grease on the bearing journals, but just motor oil on the lobes. You want the lifter rollers to roll on them as they should.
You know, if all of you Low Buck members truly love Dalton and family, you'd step up your game and join the Big Kids Club which has all the perks for a few dollars more... I did, just saying.
Excellent as always Dalton, keep it up bud.
😂 well thanks for doing that man
Dalton watching you brings back memories of the 80s and 90s in my youth I brought 60s and 70s vehicles back to life. However in the new melinia my skills and tools were less and less usable. Sad that my college is antiquated and am forced to watch the next generation have the same elation I felt when my first a 67 Bonneville with a 428 roared to life. And the first burn out ate half the gas.
I’ve been looking forward to this. Currently building my own car pole barn garage style. A 73 Mercury Cougar xr7 with a 302 from a 91 Lincoln mark vii. It’s getting along. Almost got everything to finish prepping the engine to go in. Doing it mostly right. Replacing obvious bad parts and changing leaking gaskets and stuff.
this is a great way to start my day it's gonna help get me ready to change a transmission🎉
We have all been in this situation...shit happens...but you will come back stronger brother
Dude, the foreshadowing broke my ❤. Good work, you got this.
The bit about "the particularly fat lioness" has got me rollin' 😂
Now.... "Twisting and Pulling on the cam.... as to not destroy the cam Bearings" Dalton... Your Dad must have been a true bad ass make it work kind of guy!
Its wild that we... 40-50 year old dudes who grew up building it in the Driveway or making it run alongside the road are now the "Old Guys Who Know" guys!
This... this Right here is why I love your Content and can't wait till my boys are a lil older and Ready to hang out in the shop!
JD is gonna be a Bad ass without even knowing it!! 😊
" I'mma light the shop on fire and collect insurance money" 😂😂😂😂😂
hopefully with this turd of a vehicle inside
You bad mouth Bird Song in every video 😂
1:01:59 Happy Birthday Dalton 🥳🎂🎉
If I had my low buck club membership I'd have seen this 2 days ago , DAMIT why do I have to be broke. Love it Dalton and JD and the hole Pole Barn family be safe and have fun at the drags.
Built 3 motors a 350, 377, and a 360 using a buddy’s brand new fairly high dollar digital torque wrench in the span of about a month. The 350 started knocking on break in. We pulled and tightened a loose rod with a different wrench. I figured it was a goof on my part. that motor is still running in the corvette. The 360 was installed a couple months later and shot a rod completely through the oil pan while at idle, figured it the used motor had a bad rod we didn’t catch. The 377 blew the head gaskets at duct tape drags ‘22 and a few months ago after pulling it out of hibernation it also had a rod come loose and dust a piston. You couldn’t pay me enough to trust a digital torque wrench again.
I needed PBG fix yesterday so I went out to my garage and shot self tappers on my car.
Dalton, you are a hero among the real life wrench your ability to just get it done no matter what challenge presents itself that is the simplest way to build these machines. keep up the good work.
15:35 WHO ever sent that u joint C clamp is a saint! i finally broke down and got one when i was replacing the u joint on my drive shaft. I tried the hammer and socket trick and it just ended up mushrooming the socket and splitting open my finger. I spent $160 on one of these and i got it done in 20 minutes!
“There’s a nut inside the engine”😂😂😂😂
Had to pull the heads off my 95 Z28, because of a blown head gasket. I know that sounds far fetched, that an LT1 would ever blow a headgasket, but it did. 😂 My Buddy, who i got the car from, built it about 10 years ago. He sent the block and heads off to some race engine builders down in Alabama, to have them line hone the block, and shave & port the heads. Then he put it back together with forged internals and chromoly rings. Along with a hogleg cam. It ended up being 12.5 to 1 compression. He put it back in the car, and took it to the dyno. It layed down 427 whp, with a safe, conservative tune. He put a hard 2500 miles on the car, that included several drag strip passes, and numerous sprays of nitrous. Then it blew a head gasket. He was so aggravated with it, that he parked it in the yard, and didnt touch it anymore. There it sat from 2014, until May or June of this year, when we flat towed it here. Said all that to say, when he was building it back in 2014, he set the goal, that he was going to make some passes at the drag strip in it, before they closed that season. So after several delays getting it back together, by the time he got to installing the heads, he was out of time. The head gaskets he had ordered, somehow didnt show up when they were supposed to. He got impatient and used a cheap set, that he had in his shop. That were spares from another project, years earlier. Then, he re-used the factory head bolts. 🫣 Anyway, we pulled the heads off after i got it, had them cleaned up and checked out at the machine shop, for my peace of mind. I decided to give it its best shot at holding up as long as possible, by collecting the best parts, a little at a time, when i can afford them. For the first time in my life, I went ahead and splurged on ARP head, intake, and header bolts, to go back together with. They're a little hard on the ol' billfold, but I know its worth it. At least I hope it is. I cant wait to get it back together, and hear it fire up again!
It’s always a great feeling when your son shares your interests and has the same sense of humor as you.
Shit fire man JD looks like he went from 12 to 17 over the summer. Crazy!
"nobody likes this music at school" damn though its literally some of the best music ever made.
1:05:00 "Ignore the terrible floors" This is why I love PBG. Mans makes a damn medieval torture device out of self tappers and goes "Don't mind that."
"Parking brakes are for cowards"--That would make a great "T" shirt, Dalton !!!
Chevrolet dud something similar. On the 80's 90's Chevy vans had a "factory header"
I had put a set on my 1980 Monte Carlo w/327 solid lifter motor . It was built along the lines as the 302 they put in the '69 Camero and boy would that thing rev to the moon 😊
Again The Best RUclipsR, No Doubt.
I'm glad you tell it as it is. About part stores.
My 67 GTO had crazy wheel hop. I bought lakewood traction bars and fixed it completely.
I tried to buy they are out of production
@PoleBarnGarage I think I have a pair still.
Brother, while you entertain and inspire me, and we both have no fucks to give, I dont have the patience, energy, ambition, tools, temperament, skills, space, or money to build something even to YOUR low standards! But I envy and respect the hell outa ya, kid.
Low buck club best deal on RUclips. Sorry for the bad luck on the engine. Do the right thing and put the most awesome engine you have on hand. Good luck can't wait to see what you choose.
thats a nice bucket! thats same genious was used when my buddy received transmission that was packed in childrens small plastic bathtub 😁
Thanks for the awesome content! Terribly sorry about the 350 Pontiac, and the headgasket torque situation. Its a bummer, but you'll throw something together in time for Tuscon!
Best $1 ever spent in my budget!😁😁😁😁
You should make video of yous all cleaning up your shop and adding shelves. I would think you have a work bench under all that.
For $2 I am sitting here watching an early PBG and enjoying a $1 Frosty. What a great way to relax after work.
"this looks bad, and it is." 😂
I had the same issue with a precision ujoint for my 08 cadillac escalade. I got lucky and 1 of my buddies works at a local shop. They had a spicer 1 on hand for it.
27:45 There is STILL a nut inside of that engine! 😂 Two, in fact!
Nice job Dalton it's a beast I've always loved Chevy's the most but you made me a believer of Pontiac stuff😎j.d already a pro I'm so glad to see younger generation keeping the muscle cars alive
Like the other feller said, "best dollar i ever spent". Low Buck Club is the beez neez, as the kids say.
This Buick is going to be awesome! Good news... it SHOULD pass tech, unlike the GTO last year!
Big Happy Birthday from AK Dalton!
Also, the low buck club is great. Early access is great, especially because I'm guessing we are all watching the same channels, and this spans the gap until newness drops from the other peeps. Great work Dalton!
Thanks man!
You know that famous “thinking man” statue?
You need a shirt of you in that pose, with a wrench in one hand and a cigarette in the other.
You deserve a show on MT. Very entertaining. Very RoadKill only mint.
When he says “go check out” when referring to his older videos, you really should. PBG has a lot of great older content that is worth watching. They have lower views and likes but it’s just as good as todays stuff.
I feel ya. I keep having the same kind of frustrating things happen with my projects. It's the things that should be stupid simple that turn into 3 weeks later.
I love!! The random passing cat quotes it's magnificent
Wow, another youtuber putting 10k of bolt on parts man you are the pinnacle of innovation and and sooooooooo different!!! Trash in trash out congratulations!!! Lmao
That starter is tiiiiggghhhttt!
In my part of Canada, we don't have O'Reilly's auto parts. We have Automotive Supplies, Napa, Carquest, Browne's, Bumper To Bumper..
I hope your new shop has a lift. You really need one.
Ah and a new PBG video drops. Over an hour and 40mins or pure entertainment. You sir are a genius.
Brand new aluminum drive shaft 😂😂. I love this dude. Might be my cousin
Dam that’s a beach . Hope ya get a block that will fit all those parts ya bought
That's a very good good young man he has a great work ethic and seems to enjoy what he does let alone enjoy's learning. ( Great job with him).
Thank you Dalton and Crew! Another excellent video!!
Driving with both your feet is diabolical work there dalton.😂
I got a solvent headache just watching you threw spray down the engine. I switched to using the 5 gallon jugs of brake clean with one of the pump up solvent bottles.
Belated Happy birthday Dalton. Here's to 31 years around the sun.
I really enjoyed the engine upgrade process for what it's worth. It's too bad about the head gasket. I can't wait to see what madness you have in store for us and the Sky Goat next! 😈
Saving this one for tonight 😎 thanks
God this was heartbreaking. I know that Dalton will pull this off, somehow, but the pain of doing all of that work to not have an engine to run in that car for the trip is a gut punch. Can't wait to see what he decides to do.
best way to start off a weekend .....with a PBG vid :)
Just used a Air Acetylene Torch. Twice a hot as MAPP gas. So I bought the cheap kit with 4 nozzles of Amazon. Then got a Acetylene tank full $115. $40 refills. Make a nut red hot in 40 seconds. Have you ever used one? Not oxygen Acetylene, air Acetylene.
Should of used MLS Head gasket
I laughed a bit at the spray paint on headgaskets quip, youd hate to see us hillbillies up north reusing head gaskets 😂
that's why I buy important parts from NAPA, and/or the junkyard. At least they are likely to fit.
