    and do you shoot your weddings in log or s-cinetone?

    • @JoshBirman
      @JoshBirman  3 дня назад +1

      I shoot everything in LOG (C-Log2). But for weddings I really don’t think shooting in LOG is necessary. I only do it because I like the color grading process.

      @@JoshBirman I noticed you used two LUTs in the video! Was curious to know which ones you are using?

      I am currently using the Phantom Luts, but i am looking for something a little more stylised for weddings!

      I use Gamut’s BaseLUTs to convert my LOG footage to Rec709. And then I use one of their creative LUTs after that for my “look”. I believe in this video I was mixing one of the Prestige LUTs (from Gamut) with one of the Native LUTs (from The Act Of). Currently I just use a single creative LUT, usually one from the Marble pack from Gamut.

      @@JoshBirman amazing thanks for your reply! just wondering, do i need the conversion lut or can i just do a rec709 colour space transform in da vinci and then apply the lut? Also, which do LUT do you find you use most for your own wedding fillms - still the marble lut?

    What many people don't seem to address is the fact, that youtube conversion also seems to affect colors. So my final render looks great in h265 quicktime 4K but as youtube converts it - it's noticably different.

      @@JoshBirman davinci resolve 18 - seems like skin tones are affected

    • @JoshBirman
      @JoshBirman  Год назад +1

      I used to have a problem with Resolve where it would add a bunch of extra contrast to RUclips uploads. I fixed it by setting my Gamma Tag to Rec709, in the Advanced Settings menu of the Export page. I don’t know if that will fix the issue you’re having but it may be worth a try.

      Currently I’m using the Marble LUTs from Gamut. The Prestige LUTs and the Emma K LUTs are also really great though.

      @@JoshBirman thanks josh! just wondering when you use the marble LUTS in da vinci is their a way to adjust their intensity or is that only a final cut pro feature?

    • @jamiemarsh1
      @jamiemarsh1 2 дня назад

      just wondering as well, can you use the marble LUTS on DJI drone footage? or do I need different LUT for that

    • @JoshBirman
      @JoshBirman  2 дня назад +1

      Yep, you can totally adjust the intensity with DaVinci.
      The Marble LUTs are the same as any creative LUTs. They work with any and all Rec709 footage. If your footage is in LOG you’ll just have to convert it to Rec709 before you use the creative LUT.
