Thanks for the review! Also coming from a couple of Manfrotto monopods over the years and looking forward to using something new! I'd also love it if there was a single lever/button release for all sections in a monopod some day!
3:12 the ifootage cobra 3 strike does that but its not out yet. Theres also the sirui svm 145 which was just recenty released. Theyre both quick release
Also I believe you can adjust the leg’s latches with a tool so that they have more or less resistance, depending on what works well for you. Might be helpful for Emma
Haha! Emma, your acting in that opening scene was superb 😂👏🏻 We’re definitely going to need your wife incorporated into your future videos on a regular basis 😊 Well done you guys!
Josh, thanks for the review. Very good information. I concur with your thought about having one button that allows you to quickly raise or lower the monopod. I do love the pedal at the bottom and that is so innovative....but what I *really* want is a mash up of this monopod and the YC Onion Pineta monopod (that has a one latch adjustment)....*that* would be the one monopod that rules them all! Your wife is lovely on camera (oh crud! LOL!)
I just got one this week (just the monopod, no head). I do wish it was a bit more like the SIRUI P-424SR, in terms of max height, twist lock (instead of lever lock), and the huge base feet. My favorite thing about the iFootage Cobra is the foot-pedal, which is the main reason I bought it. Although I do wish the feet ONLY locked in the WIDE position, I have no need for the other angle options for the feet, they're just less stable. You can buy just the iFootage base feet, and I did that too, for one of my other monopods. But I still like the SIRUI P-424SR best of all, just wish it had the cool foot-pedal at the base.
After using it for three months, the Cobra3 180PF base I purchased has become stuck and cannot be removed. The manufacturer refuses to repair it. The lock on the monopod frequently loosens and is difficult to secure. Therefore, I believe this is a very poor product from iFootage with many manufacturing issues. The Cobra2, which I have used for many years, is much more reliable.
It does! I want to make a video comparing the two at some point. I’ve used the YC Onion one for about 3 minutes and what I noticed was that you still do need to use 2 hands to undo the latch. So it’s not exactly what I’m looking for unfortunately. But I’m excited to test it out more one day!
Love this review, thank you so much. and I really like that you showed the size difference! Does the Manfrotto fit onto the Cobra 3, because maybe I'll buy the ifootage fluidhead later. And does the quick release pops in easily or...someone mentioned their camera falling off, because it didn't clicked properly...? And @Emmy I prefer the soft twist grips instead of these buckle locks. I see there's a Cobra 3 A180T that has this. Only thing is, it doesn't have the footpaddle
Thank you!! You can attach pretty much any fluid head you want to the top. Just unscrew the QR plate or buy the version without a head included. The quick release pops in pretty easily. The only “issue” I’ve had is that I sometimes have to push down a little harder than I expected to get it to click in. But it’s very noticeable if it doesn’t click in. Like it’s almost impossible to not know if it’s locked or not.
Hi, would you prefer the K5 or the K7 fluid head on this monopod using your C70 with a big lens? I’m considering this setup for my C70 with 24-105 F2.8 and your video helped a lot! I can imagine the K7 looking quite big on a monopod like this :-)
I think the K5S is perfectly fine for a setup of that size! I just wouldn’t leave it on the monopod and walk away. A K7 head on there would be really bulky.
How do you put Arca Swiss onto K5s for cobra monopod, do you have a video how to do it . I have one and I'm new on this . I think I'm doing it wrong . Any help will be greatly appreciated Thanks
You have to attach an Arca Swiss clamp to the Cobra’s QR. Then the Arca Swiss plate on your camera or cage can click into the clamp. The clamp that I use is link the description, but there’s a ton of options out there.
@@JoshBirman Oh! better! I wish you much success with the channel, plus I will always support a Canon Brother hahaha, everything on RUclips seems to be from Sony. GOOD LUCK JOSH!!
iFootage design is flashy, but mostly flawed, in my opinion. I will sell my Cobra 2 due to the quick release (not to mention the lateral wobbles due to the clamp design). 1) the main reason I won't buy anymore iFootage monopods is the stupidly designed proprietary quick release. It doesn't allow a camera to sit flat on a flat surface, which is supremely annoying. It comes with a relatively expensive replacement cost compared to say, inexpensive Arca Swiss options. 3) The poor design of the spring-loaded quick release almost cost me my camera when I was fidgeting with it on set. It popped right out with minimal effort. The irony is the red smooth release is a natural place for your thumb to rest. The only reason I would be willing to consider iFootage again is the foot switch on the new design of the tripod foot... EXCEPT it also comes with the impossible-to-remove proprietary quick release. Have I said enough? Skip this brand and do yourself a favor.
Agree !!! Mine after 2 weeks came apart and broke my flash . It’ was glued and not threaded . I went to bh store and showed them and they couldn’t believe what they were seeing . This monopod will come apart with no warning .
It’s garbage and poorly made . Ask me and I’ll send you photos after 1 use . You will never go near this or consider buying. Yes listen to this review like i did but.. the surprise came after my gear was on the floor. Customer service is being nice to me because they know they have a default here and a lot more accident will happen . Drop your email here and I’ll show you photos . This monopod is garbage
Just realized a color grade didn’t get applied to two of the clips in Emma’s segment 🤦🏻♂️ Whoops!
Unsubscribe!

Your style is infectious my man. Love the vibes you bring to this space! Great product and review!
Thank you so much! 🥹
Thanks for the cool review, man. I need one and appreciate you put so much time and went over all the details so thoroughly.
Happy to do it!!

Love using monopods during cocktail hour/receptions. Great video man!
Yes!! Toasts and first look for me.

I agree! I want to see both the Birmans 🙏
Right before we filmed that opening shot she was like “Oh wait! I need to get an apple!” 😂
@@JoshBirman 😂 It was perfection 🤩
More Emma please. She’s awesome!
Agreed 😄
hi someone may have already said tis but have a look at the cobra strike series it does exactly what you was asking for, one hand hight adjustment

Exactly!! Totally agree! Would love to have a mash up of those two. At some point I’m hoping to do a comparison between those two monopods.
The cobra 2 has quick release to extend the monopod. Twist and lock handle and no buckles.

Oh I hate when wedding guests punch my cameras. Too relatable!
Jokes aside, great review!
It’s a real problem! So many cameras lost…
hahaha emma’s impromptu appearance was so good. her acting was superb hahaha❤
She’s kind of amazing 😄

The YC onion monopod has a lever that does what you want

This head compatible with Dji gimbals quick release lower plate?
Sadly it is not. Just tried it out and the DJI lower/receiver plate doesn’t fit.
