- This is part 2 of a 4 part series! Of building a pole barn for free using the trees around my property! I sourced 2 big hemlocks for the ridge beams. With some help I was able to get both up and included some braces for extra support! Enjoy and have a good one !

That's a great big, little, helper you have there!!! Its so good to let them help what they can do! It builds self esteem and is invaluable to their growth and self confidence!
He’s my shadow for sure he follows me around doing whatever I’m doing !! Just trying to bring him up the way I was raised !!
Awesome! I’m looking forward to seeing the next video of this barn build!
The video will be up most likely tonight !! Thanks for the watch 🤙
Nice sharing, looking good👍
Thanks for watching !!
Looking good
Thank you!!
Love the shed I am curious if you have ever used oil and diesel mix to treat the bottom of your post's
I did not, but I should of ! I was in a rush building it and will use it on future builds
Thanks for watching! Part 3 will be the roof install and some more burning!!
Awesome job, have been thinking of doing the same idea for a while now. Question on that long beam, what was its length? How thick was it at each end? How thick were the Roof poles? Keep up the good work
Thanks!! And the long ridge pole is a little bit longer then 20 feet long and about 24 inches around ! And the roof poles are 14 feet long by 18 inches round
@@hammerandanail4770 Thanks for the info. Did you use lag bolts to screw everything together? How about the roof joist, how thick were they on the round? Just finished watching them all, great job, started planning mine in my head now, going to have to get cutting before the snow starts
@@shannonsullivan9792 anytime !! And I used 10 inch timber lag screws to secure everything !! And They are 18 inches around ! Good luck with your build
decent!
Thank you !!
what are the post spacing
It’s 20 feet long by 8 feet wide with a 2 foot over hang on the front and back !
@@hammerandanail4770 thank you so much for your response. what size lags did you use to attache it all together
@@alarry31 I used 10 inch timber lag screws ! Almost all hardware stores will carry them ! If you can’t find them use 10 inch or larger spikes “nails” they will do the trick ! Have a wonderful day
Putting posts in the ground is a total waste. They will rot off in no time.
Not if you use rot resistant trees like hemlock and cedar my friend ! People have been building like this for a long time !
@@hammerandanail4770 I've done that before, and they still rot off after 10-15 years.
@@christiancowboy352 they will eventually… I most likely will dig around them and add quick Crete at some point ! I couldn’t get my hands on any concrete at the moment so I had to go this route !
@@hammerandanail4770 I understand. I had fix a barn that the post had rotted off on.
The old posts were 5"x5". I bought 6x6 pressure treated posts. I sprayed the end with truck bed liner. Then concreted them beside the old post with high tensile concrete. Then pre drilled and lag bolted them together.
@@christiancowboy352 that’s one way to do it !!
