Wow even just 16 years ago is very nostalgic, and I'm here for it. Cool to see VHS recording tapes still in store, DVDs being prominent and it's so surreal to see people back then not be "people of Walmart" 😃
"People of Walmart" videos were definitely a thing by 2008. I remember watching them back then. Tbh though, Walmart just gets a bad reputation that they don't deserve. The type of people in Walmart varies wildly on WHERE the Walmart is. Ghetto neighborhood = ghetto people = ghetto Walmart. Nice neighborhood = nicer people = nice Walmart.
I know this is considered "modern" to some folks, but I miss this era of Walmart in a way. Before the change and remodels of 2008-present. The older all uppercase WALMART logo, the smiley, and the older layout in general. I even miss the older store use phone sounds back then when a call was on hold or to be answered. Those phones made unique sounds. You don't hear that anymore.
@@christiangonzales7429You are blind. I'm kidding, but in all seriousness, the white tile gives a completely different and much brighter look than the concrete slab flooring they use now.
The nostalgia feels good and hurts at the same time...but look at it this way: in another 20 years, we may find videos of someone walking around a Walmart doing this kind of thing in today's era, and we'll look back on it with the same great amount of nostalgia. But that time is now! We're living it now, so let's go out and enjoy living in our future's past!
If there's on thing I miss about this era of Walmart, it's those TV's they used to hang from the ceiling. I remember they would play clips from "America's Funniest Home Videos" every now and then.
I remember the TVs like yesterday, but I don't remember them playing AFV clips. I remember them playing ads that were blasted through some tiny box speakers that hung from the ceiling.
The aisle signage you see here was introduced I believe in 2002, but I remember seeing it in 2003. Even the 90s signage pack was used all the way up until 2005 at the latest at some locations.
This is back when they had that Walmart TV Network for a few years in the mid 2000s around the store and played some irritating commercials teenage me made fun of all the time. Come to think of it, this was around the time I first discovered RUclips!
I think what I like about all this isn't so much that it's from 2005 and the nostalgic feeling behind it all; this was from 2005 so I've either graduated at this point or it's earlier in the year. I think what makes me invested is like, 'Imagine visiting al these videos of 'in the moment' recordings at various times in the past and going 'OH MY GOD THAT'S ME. I remember walking down the aisle and seeing someone with a camera!'"

Spotted a few things you won't see in stores anymore; The black CD isle, to burn all those pirated tracks from Napster and Kazaa. The Kodak film kiosk, because digital photography was still in it's infancy. I saw the WOW stand, which had just come out a year earlier. I didn't actually go into my first Walmart until 2014 in Florida because there weren't any Walmarts where I lived in NYC. Same goes for Target. In the 80's and 90's it was all KMart, Caldor and Woolworth for us.
I would've liked to have seen more of the toy department. I was 3 years old then and I'm pretty sure I got some Dora toys that year. Would've been cool to see them again.
I'm British and have been to Walmart's former British subsidiary Asda loads of times before. Does or did Walmart have the George clothing brand like Asda did/does?
Although I was around 3 or 4 years old in 2007 before the 2008 remodel of Walmart. I have to say that this is the Walmart that I remember and wish that I had now in 2023, I will always remember how almost every employee working during this time were always super friendly and welcoming and always doing their job. Also, during this time I do have to say that people during this time really didn't give any crap if you were filming inside a Walmart or a Target store compared to nowadays. Me turning 20 years old later this year, just seeing this made me almost cry due to the way how many stores like Walmart and Target are definitely not the same as I remember also counting the way how society has changed all these years later where if you are filming in a store today people would call the police on you.

@Mark Meadows Such another awesome comment. Appreciate it much. So lucky 😜
Anything say before Obama’s presidency (2008 and before)is pretty old school to me!
Honestly, I don't think this looks much different from today's Walmart stores. The only difference is the signage.
i haven't stepped foot inside a walmart in 10+ years. I hate it & don't miss it. I only remember the old layout Idk how it looks from the inside now.
@@h3cz_ bad experiences there huh?
I've worked at Walmart for the past 22 years and this really takes me back. I almost forgot how different it used to look.
It still looks the same to me. The only difference is the aisle signage and the logo used.
@@christiangonzales7429 and the prices haha

I remember when they would play a few snippets of music videos. Me and my cousin would LIVE for seeing our favorite bands played on there lol.
I heard the ads on the tweeter speaker and Walmart tv network when I was 2 years old
miss getting lost with no phone, had to call my mom and dad on the intercom speaker in front on everyone....love you mom and dad ......wild times

Guys, cherish these vintage Walmart shopping videos.... Nothing will beat those early 2000's shopping in wally world....
It was a totally different America back in 2005 and that wasn't that long ago!!
DVDs were taking over VHS in this time of 2005. They were expensive too.
Everyone isn’t on cell phones. I miss this time.

Back when Walmart was WAL★MART
In my eyes, WAL★MART and Walmart are two completely different stores. Think about it.
@@christiangonzales7429 yes they are, one has a McDonald’s, one has miserable employees
Thank you for taking my back to my childhood for just a moment 🥰
I remember when the toy aisle sign had a ping pong logo on it. That’s a weird detail I always remembered. And the fish aisle.
I also remember when the snack aisle used a pretzel icon it.
Yes, I remember the fish aisle! As a kid I always enjoyed looking at all the fish. Do they even have them anymore?
Its interesting to see people recording in a Walmart & no one yelling at them or calling the cops
They're playing Brooks & Dunn
