It depends on the waist size and the length of your skirt also how wide your fabric is. The fabric I was working with is 44 inches wide and when you fold it it’s 22 inches. The companies put 1/2 for the selvage part so it 22 1/2 inches on fold. the total amount for my dressform is 22 1/2 (which 12 1/2 length plus 1/2 seam allowance on top makes total 13” and the radius was 9.87 but top of skirt became 9.37 because of the 1/2 added for seam allowance)the pattern was right at the end of the 22 1/2 inch fabric. Thank god that was a close one lol…So if u want to make your skirt longer you will have to open the fabric so you have some length but that means you will have to cut the pattern in half for all 3 skirt patterns. To make it fit the fabric don’t forget to put your seam allowance where u cut. That’s for a 44inch fabric…if u are working with a 60 inch fabric it would be better.
You have to cut 3 of them…I only did one because it didn’t make sense to make 3 of the same pattern. I just made one and wrote on the paper to cut out 3 of them.😊
I would suggest stiff fabric so It looks full maybe brocade, heavy satin like duchess…bridal satin they have other kinds of satin that are heavy weight. 100% Polyester is good fabric…there are some cottons that are stiff. Polyester blended with cotton is not good it’s to thin and soft. But if you are looking for a softer look then get cotton or fabric with lighter weight. Hopefully this helped. 🥰
Hi! This was such a straightforward and brilliant tutorial. I want to make this however, I want it as a dress (it’ll be armless and it’ll start from my chest). Will that be possible please? And how do I go about getting the measurements please
At 2:05 you say 'this is called the radius' and write the word 'radius'. But circumference(waist measurement)÷pi(3.14) is DIAMETER, not radius. Is there a step missing?
Hi are u talking about when I was calculating the circle skirt radius?...u can call it diameter if u want...pi is the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter...it is an irrational number that approximately equal to 3.14. The radius of a circle is the distance from the center of the circle to the edge of the circle...radius of a circle is the distance from the center of the circle to any point on its circumference...the radius is half of the diameter...hopefully u not confused anymore.
@@drapingclass101 thanks chic, I got through with the Waistband and also the Draft.. Now it's just time to cut the cloth and sew! Thanks alot for this tutorial, 👌🏾😊❤️
So confused. Circumference (waist measurement) divided by pi(3.14) is ***diameter*** NOT radius. But in the tutorial she says the line she's drawing for the circle is the radius. What am I missing here? The math isn't making sense. I get that it's the radius because the corner to the line is definitely radius since diameter would be across the whole middle cutout of the circle. But she's using the math formula for diameter. Wth?:/

Hi this was a super easy tutorial, thank you. How much fabric would this skirt project consume?
3 yards

Hello wonderful tutorial, what happens if my fabric available can cut only two flare?
It won’t work it depends on your waist measurement and the pleat formula
Excellent tutorial. This pattern - with smaller pleats - would work on an empire lamp shade, wouldn’t it? Thank you!
Kind of lol 🥰

Thankkkk youu

Thanks for this wonderful tutorials. But if i may ask, why can't you just cut one big pattern instead of making 3 and joining?
It’s because it won’t be enough fabric if it was in one pattern so it’s cut in pieces
Great 👍
❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thank you ❤️🥰
I have a question, just so I am clear before I do any cuts....so are you basically making 3 half circles with the pattern, and sewing them together??
You have to cut 3 of them…I only did one because it didn’t make sense to make 3 of the same pattern. I just made one and wrote on the paper to cut out 3 of them.😊
Can this be applied when making it into a maxi skirt
Yes but u will have to make it on the cross grain instead of the straight grain for the length

Thanks, how would you lay the pattern out on fabric?
Fold the fabric once and put pattern on the folded edge but cut two of them

Is this begginer friendly?
Yes it is
how to stitch this
Would the math still be the same when doing a full pleated circle skirt out would it be diffrent
It would be different
Would you ever consider making a tutorial for the full circle skirt
Hi! This was such a straightforward and brilliant tutorial. I want to make this however, I want it as a dress (it’ll be armless and it’ll start from my chest). Will that be possible please? And how do I go about getting the measurements please
this is made to be a two piece. a bodice and a skirt.

Could we just add an elastic band instead of a zipper?
No because the waist of the skirt would have to be double the size
Hihi all I'm missing now is how to do the Waistband for this skirt.. 😢
I will put that on my list ❤️
@@drapingclass101 thanks chic, I got through with the Waistband and also the Draft.. Now it's just time to cut the cloth and sew! Thanks alot for this tutorial, 👌🏾😊❤️
how many pleats
It will vary so just space then further apart if you want less or closer together if you want less.
Together If you want more
How about 28 waistline 😢
Same thing
