I honestly thought the opposite. He never actually fully turns around or attempts to look at things. Just random swinging like the camera is dangling for a string, was kinda irritating tbh. Keep it up tho
Great pacing, and I love how you had your wanderer turning to look behind every so often. It adds a lot of realism, as if the BackRooms were real, and you ended up there, you'd be constantly checking behind you and being very cautious about peering around corners before walking through. So few BackRooms animators have their wanderers do this, and it just kills the realism for me. The fact that you animated that caution shows how in touch you are with this character and their perdicament. Also, your sound design is great. I love that you thought to have the wanderer's footsteps actually sound like walking on carpet. So many others animate the carpet but then have their character's footfalls sound like hard-soled shoes on a concrete or tile floor. This is especially out of place if we see the wanderer's feet and they're wearing athletic shoes, which don't produce much sound even on concrete. The only qualms I have is that some of the proportions are a bit off. The ceiling tiles are oversized. Most office ceiling tiles are less than half that size. The carpet pattern in the large room with the computers is also out of proportion. The tables with the old PCs are also oversized. It made me initially wonder if you intended your wanderer character to be a child. If so, interesting take! No one has ever animated a child no-clipping into the BackRooms before (that I know of, anyway). That would be a terrifying and tragic situation, but there's a lot of room for (dark and tragic) story there. Really, it's a great animation, and you've obviously put huge thought and effort into it, and that shows! You've got great instincts for this. I love the length of this too, as it lets the viewer get a lot more invested than we can with short little clips. Keep building on what you've got here. This is great stuff.
Most victims seem to be under 20, usually 14-20, but a smart 9 year old short for his age could be competent with a more lightweight camcorder, particularly a Betamax, which were popular for being lighter due to having a smaller tape, until the VHS mini tape adapter was invented, but those were years away in 1985.
Imagine there’s a movie where a child no clips into the backrooms and the perspective constantly shifts between the parents trying to figure out where their child is and the child trying to survive against all odds.
I would also add that when he's running away at the end, it looks like he's on a zipline or something with how fast he zooms away. But I second everything else said, great work!
The true horror is that no one is doing anything with all this free real estate! (I just imagined a call center staffed by some of the incomprehensible things that wander around the backrooms, and it kind of cracked me up.)
The effort you put into this project really shows. I found your video to be quite impressive, my friend. Best of luck that the creativity keeps flowing for you!

a sync opened a hole to another dimension. None are sure where the rift occurred visually, but going in and out of it isn’t under the control of the operators. Finding your way in and out is based on being within a certain harmonic of the surrounding electromagnetic field. The back rooms were created by mistake as a feedback loop due to these magnetic devices. It’s impossible to know when you are in or out of the field of effect, therefore causing the nightmare of the back rooms. Some believe the entities are just as afraid as the humans involved. Both lost between worlds. Even harmonics are usually caused by so called space harmonics rather than time harmonics; rather than due to distortions in the time varying waveform of the input voltage. By creating a strong enough electromagnetic field that has a phase correlation to a similar and conceptually close-by ‘universe’, A-Sync accidentally tied two ‘worlds’ together. The key to escaping the back rooms is finding a zone with even harmonics in the mathematical dimensions of space and time. One method is to be at the right distance away from the field produced by A-Syncs lab, facing the right direction (for phase purposes), and interacting visually with an entity, human or not, then moving away from the field. Though, The challenge is, knowing what direction to step, since magnetic fields aren’t visible to the human eye. The only way to end a feedback loop is to lower the voltage of one of the many frequencies feeding back. When there is a seemingly endless amount of power flowing into these devices, one must use the impedance and resistance of their own human body to escape the false dimension by being at the exact right place at the right time. I truly feel badly for the individuals who have succumb to the fear of one of the interacting entities. Fight or flight is real for all living things, human or not. I believe harming an entity in these liminal spaces, whether human or not, causes an imbalance in the two interacting fields and can cause more people to be taken in due to imbalances in the EMF A-Sync accidentally created. Note how in some of this footage that is filmed by old cameras, some amount of radiation can be seen and heard in the recordings (the visual and auditory distortions seen in certain scenes, similar to what is seen when someone brings a camera near highly radioactive substances, like ppl filming elephants foot at Chernobyl). This, and the unsafe bacteria in the air in some of these liminal spaces make them very dangerous. Much of this is due to people/entities in these spaces not being from the environment herein, therefore causing contamination. It’s very important to remember that the people and entities interacting in these environments are all in this together, albeit not by choice. These machines need to be shut down, but morally, can only be shut down once the humans and entities involved are back in their respective “dimensions”. Not just do we not want any innocent people to die, but we DO NOT want to cause an electromagnetic imbalance between to the “dimensions” that were accidentally crossed. This would be a disaster. Whether the meant to or not, A-Sync found a method of tapping into the cosmic microwave background to move between parallel dimensions by using EMFs and frequency-specific amplification. Was it planned? Who would have thought moving humans through divergent dimensions would be a good solution to overpopulation. Who would have thought this wouldn’t tie us to other entities that reside there. Why is the architecture of these liminal spaces constantly replicated in a seemingly endless manner? The only thing that can answer these questions is history, honesty, and mathematics. Everything has its own resonant frequency. They knew this…. A Sync is the perfect example of a genius who lost control.

the wanderer looking behind him every once and a while instead of once every couple minutes is so realistic and so much scarier because _every time he does_ you're half expecting to see some shit behind him
Very good. My only critical observation is the camera sweeps never fully resolve, they always stop and pan back again, before getting that full view from forward to back and forward again. So we get forward, pan backward but stop early at the blank wall, then pan forward again, and repeat. I know there must be a reason why this is so, but I cannot figure it. Otherwise; as a big backrooms fan of sorts, this was as good as most everything else, and in some cases better. You've got the suspense part of it hooked. I was definitely backing away from the screen in several spots which I do before I run out of the room screaming...
The camera is held with hands connecting to to arms then to the torso, and to fully turn around you need to bend your torso a small amount, also moving the camera.
This is definitely one of the better videos I've seen in terms of sound design. I feel a lot of the videos I've seen up to now overplay the reverb of steps or shoehorn in vaguely unsettling noises for no reason. This used what it needed to and balanced what it used well. The LCDDEM audio choice for the end was a nice touch as well. Thoroughly enjoyed this!

I commented a bit on this. I think it's a technique that he's trying out, but I found it annoying after the third time in a row. We're never allowed a full view behind us...Otherwise I thought it was very good
I think they're trying to lose that sense of why would the camer work like they're head and eyes. They wouldn't turn the camera all the way around just to look around themselves
I like that the only footage of the Backrooms is found footage. If I were going to go exploring in there, I definitely wouldn't take a camera. It basically means guaranteed death...

I mean, in a real world, they were all not put there just to give us players a challenge. So similarly, these back room monsters have probably been there for an awful long time and have had a lots of time to consider their existence and how dull back room living is. What would be the first thing that would come to such a being’s mind upon finding a living thing? I can say that if I were there for years and years, I would welcome the company of an ant to watch and play with. So why do these creatures not feel the same? Why would they immediately kill whatever they find? There has to be some who would first think, oh joy! Something new to play with and maybe talk to, to discuss that book I found and read years ago, philosophy, science, politics, dad jokes, and maybe even strategies for a way out of this damned place. Along the way, we could pick up other monsters with skills that could help. Not saying we would be a merry band of adventurers, but the goal is the same, and if we do find the way out, instead of jumping back to instinct and killing each other, we all salute for our contributions to freedom, and go our separate ways. But maybe I’m a dreamer.
