chris74ify man I’m like 5’10” 240 and the Jackson Big Tuna was a great Kayak. The Cuda HD is a little less stable as far as standing than the Big Tuna for sure but it’s faster. I would decide what kind of fishing you were wanting to do. If you want to stand up a lot and fish, I would say spend the extra money and get the Big Tuna or something along those lines, if you’re looking for a little less resistance in the water (faster yak) then this would be a great buy. At 6’4” you’ll need good balance to be comfortable standing while you cast, catch, and land a fish. That sounds like a good deal though. I hope that helps. Let what you want to do in the yak be what influences you more than the price. You’ll be happier getting what you want every time your on the water. Thanks for checking in with us.

@@carolinakayakadventures270, I live in Colorado so looking at lakes and small and slow river fishing...stand up would be nice but not a deal breaker..

How does it compare to the regular cuda when it comes to speed and ease of glide? I'm kind of bummed out that Jackson discontinued the regular cuda.

Jonathon lopez honestly I couldn’t really answer that. Neither of us have ever been in the regular Cuda. For Kurt, he was coming out of the Jackson Big Tuna so to him the Cuda HD really slips through the water well. If you like the regular Cuda you might look at something like the shorter of the Jackson Kraken. That yak has very similar characteristics of the Cuda. Good luck and thanks for watching.

Enjoyed the review, I subscribed. I'm looking at the cuda hd for freshwater river fishing but was worried about the manueverability. Seems like that's not an issue after watching it in the water. I fish the New River in VA, got a couple videos on my channel

Tanner awesome thanks for the Sub!! Yes Kurt loves his Cuda!!! That is definitely a very maneuverable kayak. This kayak is well worth the money.
I’ll take a look at your videos. Good luck with the yak and with your channel!!!

Just following up to see how you like the Cuda HD? I've been considering purchasing this same boat.

Capefearcapt Kurt absolutely loves the Cuda HD. It’s super smooth paddling and still easy to stand in. He has gotten all his Storage down like he likes it and he is very happy with his purchase!! Thanks for checking in.

Great review of the Cuda HD!! What are your thoughts on how it would a big guy, say 5’8 roughly 300#.... I’m torn between this and the mayfly, but would like a faster tracking boat

Luda_ yanez thank you. Honestly it would depend on how much gear you plan to bring. I’m not sure if you’ve seen our Big Tuna review. This is the kayak I use and it has a 500lb weight capacity which allows plenty of room for gear. The Big Tuna is slightly wider and a little longer which makes it more stable. The Cuda HD would get the job done for you for sure though. It would likely depend on how much gear you bring. Take a quick look at the Big Tuna also. ruclips.net/video/MDzrqjwZlR4/видео.html. I’m definitely a fan of Jackson Kayaks. We’re not sponsored by them or anything, I just really like their products. Hope this helps brother.

CAROLINA KAYAK ADVENTURES thankfully I wouldn’t bring more than a tackle bag, worm bag, net, and then three to four rods. I watched your big tuna review, and I feel I would have too much unused space, but holy cow what a lot of space there is! The plus side is that I plan to lower the weight over time using the kayak, plus some working out

Luda_ yanez that’s awesome brother!!! It’s definitely a great way to exercise!!! Plus there’s nothing like the peace it gives to your soul to get on the water!!! I wish the best man!!!

How does it compare to the kraken 13.5? Hard to tell but the hulls look very similar.

Luis Sanchez I had a Kraken 15.5. I have never been in a 13.5. I can tell you that the Cuda HD is very stable and standable. It cuts through the water and is a much faster kayak than the Big Tuna he had previously. I like rod storage in the Cuda HD. I also like how you can trim the kayak with the adjustable seat in the Cuda. This kayak comes ready to rig a power pole anchor also. I personally would prefer this over the Kraken but this is simply my opinion. Hope this helps.

      CAROLINA KAYAK ADVENTURES
Well I just got in from an all day road trip. I got pristine Kraken 15.5 elite for $1k. The box, K krate rod holders..
This is the little ok lady from pasedina story. An older couple up North with his and her krakens without so much as a scratch on the bottom of the hulls. I took the sunrise one for visibility sake. Now to start spending the real cash..
