Thanks James. I was a stage 3 kidney patient last Dec. Found your channel by chance and followed your diet. My last test in June revealed that my kidney is back to normal. Thanks again.

@@nichellevillalpando5200 Nichelle, I must clarify that I add salads to my daily diet besides eating the normal stuff like chickens, eggs, etc. More salads and less meat. I was desperate and had to give it a shot as I fear the thought of going into dialysis if my kidney worsen. Thank goodness, it works for me. I am still sticking to the diet. I understand that veges, water and lemon juice help to clear the toxins that accumulate in our kidneys and prevent them from functioning normally. I also minimise my daily salt and sugar intake .
Thank you James! I learned so so much from your channel. It has changed how I feel in my body with stage 3b, 34%. Thanks again from the Netherlands. God bless you!
I’m glad I found this channel. I’m newly diagnosed age 58 with Egfr of 61 and creatine 1.06, albumin 5.0. I had been on a keto diet prior to blood work (not the wisest choice) and need to speak with my doctor. I’m concerned.
I had my kidney transplant less than 2 months ago. My gfr was down to 10 and I was very close to dialysis. I was on the transplant list for 1 year. I highly recommend NYU Langone in NYC. My kidneys were destroyed from lithium use many years ago. Everything went well with the transplant since my body was in Excellent shape. Ate organic, drank plenty of water, blood sugar was perfect no high blood pressure. All I can say is watch your health! And watch Dadvice. James got me thru. I was so lucky that I never went on dialysis and was on the transplant list! Good luck to all out there!!
Learnt a lot o gfrs & protein leakage. I am 77 & my gfr was above 60 & prolonged use of omprezole for acid reflux caused gfr to go down to 20. I was referred to a nephrologist who is treated me & gfr is now 42 at the last test. I was told by many friends with ckd that gfr cannot be reversed. I have now opened my eyes with this advice. Will watch for more from dadvice in the future I give my updates with a thousand thanks. Will look for the book too. God bless all.

Hi James, in your long list of symptoms, did you ever experience muscle weakness, not necessarily cramping, but overall weakness in the arms and legs? I am pretty surprised that this is my first physical symptom based on all of my research. Thank you and Dr. Ro for the great show today and best of luck with your move.
@@ameliasuarez1235 Thank you for your response. I was going to guess low vitamin D as this can cause weakness as well. I just watched James' video on potassium too.

I definitely think that the potassium comments makes sense as well. The crazy thing is that I just have been reading that so much can cause muscle weakness including mineral deficiency, vitamin issues, and also too much of a specific mineral. I guess it's a guessing game until one goes and gets tested.

My crea spikes up to 249 I am suffering anemia and my doc inject me erythropoietin (epoiten) need a few advice if this good to increase my hemoglobin in a long term. Is this not hazardous to my health if I use it so many months?
It’s disappointing to hear someone who doesn’t have kidney disease talk about it. When your eGFR is in the 30s, you definitely have symptoms. And that is stage three! When my eGFR was 37, my hair was coming out and I had alopecia that’s what led me to the doctor. I had terrible back pain. I was scratching like a crackhead. My skin aged overnight and I looked 👀 like an old lady. My energy levels depleted out of the blue. And much more! All of my vitamins were gone. Several of my minerals were deficient too. I had Proteinuria. And the list goes on and on. My pH was acidic.
If you follow the kidney diet most of those symptoms will dissappear or get less. I follow the diet at stage 3b 34% and i feel really good! I just have to follow the diet. Meat will mess you up. Lemon water will fix your ph and make you more alkaline.
Yes everyone is different If i do not follow the low protein diet i get really sick. So everyone is different. Maybe it also depends on what kind of kidney disease we have. Polycystic kidney disease.
Yea thats what I said I honestly do t have a condition or preexisting condition I just had a kidneys transplant at 13 years old but they didn't really found out what caused the kidneys to basically die!!! And when to stage 3b because it's been 21 years but not for any condition with my kidneys thankfully they are still doing well so I guess is diiferent from you guys.

Stage 3 is serious, but not something to get too worried about. Stage 3 covers a WIDE range, and your age and any protein leakage in your urine plays a big role in how serious it is. It's important to keep your blood pressure controlled, eat a heart-healthy diet, stay active, and remove any bad habits that harm or put stress on the kidneys. Even if you are at the bottom of stage 3, you may be able to keep it controlled and not have any symptoms for decades - but it takes being proactive and working with your health care team. I have several videos under the LIVE tab on the Dadvice TV channel that talk about stage 3 with Dr. Rosansky - check those out. And be careful of the fake cures, fixes, flushes, restores, solutions out there - they are not going to fix your kidneys and could cause more harm. Use the internet as a source to know what questions to talk to your doctor about and run everything by your doctor before doing it. Good luck - you can manage this!
I’m yolanda my Doctor told me I’m ckd3, my eGFR CKD-EPI cr 2021 is 53L,creatinine1.1,K 4.6,alkaline phosphatase 52, total protein 6.7 gm, negative for protein in urine, asymptomatic what diet should i have
He is not paying attention to what the doc is saying as he is busy reading comments. It is not in a way 'funny' but maybe just quite normal reaction n to keep the talk more lively. Be more positive and this is the 1st talk that I m finding out more about ckd.
I eat a diet with lots of plant based foods, some chicken and eggs. I use my labs to set limits for my nutrients (sodium, potassium, etc.), which allows me to eat what I want with portion control. The biggest challenge for me is keeping sodium reasonable and carbs low.
Drink lemon grass. It can lower your creatinine and bloodsugar,Highblood as well, boil it in 10mins . Trust me i done this . From 138 down to 106 in just 1month
I’m at stage 3 and I have the doctors book. My doctor saids all my tests are ok for now. I see the doctor in about another year from now. I can’t help it but I worry a lot about my disease killing me. What should I be doing now? I’m obese, have high blood pressure and high cholesterol. I weigh 274 and need to lose 74+ pounds.
I would focus on eating and living healthy. Getting your blood pressure controlled is extremely important, as well as lowering your cholesterol. Being active will help your blood pressure, heart, and brain. It is nice to drop weight, but data shows that isn’t as important as the others. If you smoke or have other bad habits, it is time to work on cutting those. You can do it!
I have a high cholesterol too and I ask my Dr if I should take med but I was told to get a Calcium Score first, then it depends on the result if I would take meds. I stopped taking BP diuretic med per Dr’s advise to see if these causes my renal function to decline and would get better. So far gfr raises to 20 points, and BP is now normal.
This is mostly correct. On average, an adult drops about 1 eGFR point per year (which is actually less than a percent since the eGFR scale goes well above 100). A 70 year old with an eGFR of above 60 is typically considered normal kidney function. It's important to also look at protein in your urine - that along with estimated GFR gives you a better look at your risk factors.
@@DADVICETV Dr Ro kept emphasising urine protein is more important to indicate kidney damage. Urine albumin can be measured. But why is albumin creatinine ratio (ACR) also calculated and is more important. Pls explain the relevance of using urine creatinine to calculate ACR?
The only time I have seen them help, is for non-diabetics on a very tight low carb diet under the direction of a dietitian. These are not things you should take without a dietitian ensuring you are using them correctly and that you actually need them. It is important to never self prescribe supplements or diet restrictions.
