I came across your recipe yesterday and made the bread -2 loaves- today. I followed your instructions to a "t" using 7 cups of flour and they came out gorgeous. I am over the moon on how delicious and easy this bread recipe is. It is absolutely the best hawaiian bread ever. My husband ate some and loved it. Thank you for sharing your wonderful recipe Maria Torres
I loved watching your video. I learned to bake bread in my thirties, and was reading a series of books by a man who baked his own bread, he said to let the dough rise 4 times. I did and the crumb came out wonderfully. I was making my own Kaiser rolls and smaller rolls too. I never did get the hang of slicing the bread, my slices were always uneven. That didn't matter to me, as long as it tasted good with butter.
No, I don't have any plans for a conversion table or substitution chart. I do the conversions directly in my recipes and I'm not very good at substitutions. I have seen them on the Internet though. I doubt I could do better. Thanks for the feedback on the video.-Dennis
I agree with the visual adjustment on the dough. Most recipes don't take into account location and weather will effect how it will react. Bravo sir, very well done.
Good Friday morning to you, zi also make different breads besides everything else I do! I have subscribed as I like what I see. Very, very nice indeed. Have a great weekend.
Omg I want to make this so bad. :) can't wait to try it out. this old man is so adorable c: he reminds me of my grandfather who didn't really cook but loved to eat the delicious things my grandma made him :) this was nostalgic to watch and you have a serious talent !!!
Dennis, you truly amaze me on your baking and cooking skills. I wake up every day Looking for an adventure with Dennis. Grreat works of art. You are a Mistro. Wished you were my neighbor.
@Mobile home Gourmet - have you ever thought of making a website or cook book? I have tried several of your recipes and love them and would buy your cook book, if you had one.
Hello Adam. Your wish came true - even better. All the recipes from the videos are free on my web site: www.MobileHomeGourmet.com in HTML (web pages) and PDFs. Look in the "Recipe Archive" (button in the left panel). My cookbook, which contains my first 200 recipes, is available for free on the web site in EPUB format, which can be viewed on most tablets and on computers that have an ebook app, such as the Nook Ebook Reader app (available free from the Barnes & Noble web site www.bn.com). The cookbook is not available in other formats nor in print. I did what I could to make it free for others to enjoy (but you can make a donation on my web site). I hope you enjoy the book and my web site. -Dennis
That looks absolutely fantastic. I've heard of this bread but here in Australia you can't buy it. Thank you for sharing. I looked in your site and because I work in grams I love that you offer this on your videos, but you don't seem to have a conversion table or substitute sheet. Will you be adding this to your site by any chance?
I'm trying to imagine this bread in a sandwich. Some fillings would be okay, such as a BLT because tomatoes are a little sweet anyway. I can't say ham and cheese with mustard would work okay. You might want to experiment. I enjoyed it toasted with my morning coffee. Thanks for a question that made the think.-Dennis
the recipe that ive found for hawiian sweet bread also includes potato flakes if i included that in this recipe would it mess it up? i like the recipe ive found but dont like how small the loaves are anyway to make them bigger?
I wonder if I could substitute apple juice for this recipe. I'm *deathly* allergic to pineapple, but I'd love to try this bread. What do you think, Dennis? Same proportion?
I made this recipe and though it tasted like Kings Hawaiian bread the crumb was such that it was like it was course and stale Kings Hawaiian Bread. It went exactly like your recipe. Any pointers on a softer crumb? Kind thanks.
I haven't attempted it yet. King Arthur Flour has a recipe. It requires two hours of steaming; so I might not attempt it until winter. Thanks for the suggestion.
Anywhere thats draft free will do. Putting it in an oven with the incandescent light on (the oven heat turned OFF) is usually where I put it. The bread will still rise, but the colder it is, the slower the yeast will work, sometimes thats done on purpose, for example when I make pizza dough, I want it to rise slow, so I put it in the refrigerator overnight, depends on the recipe you're doing, but ultimately anywhere is fine that has a stable temperature.
Remember, not all flour is created equally. There are many factors as to why more flour was needed... the humidity, the age of the flour, and the size of the eggs, it is okay to need more flour, such is the life of a baker.
Here is the ingredients; 1 tablespoon active dry yeast (1 packet is okay) 1 cup (237ml) warm water (110°F/43°C). 3 large eggs, preferably room temperature 1 cup (240ml) pineapple juice, room temperature ¾ cup (150g) white sugar ½ teaspoon ground ginger 1 teaspoon vanilla extract ½ cup (4 ounces/1 stick/113g) butter, melted ½ teaspoon salt 7 cups (35 ounces/1kg) all-purpose flour Directions:

Thank you for telling me about your success with the bread. I'm pleased to know these videos are helpful for others. -Dennis
I did this from another recipe, it called for 7 cups of flour, it came out perfect. All other ingredients were the same. Excellent bread!
I just made this bread today and OMG, it is the BEST BREAD EVER!!! Thank you for sharing this recipe!❤
You are so welcome!

Sounds great. I enjoy eating Hawaiian Bread. I will try it and will let you know how it came out. God bless you, thanks.

Gday from kangaroo land down under , this bread will be popular with all us Aussies, thanks for sharing mobile gourmet!!!!!
Going to do this right now. First time attempting Baking. Thanks man.
I can’t wait to try this
i love those spatulas, where did you get them? or who makes them?
looks delish. I am going to try it today. I just happen to have all the ingredients......yummy
Can I bake the loaf of bread in a Loaf Pan? Also, can I use Bread Flour instead of All Purpose Flour?
Yes you can. Bread flour will give a little better rise and a loaf pan would work fine.
That looks absolutely fantastic. I've heard of this bread but here in Australia you can't buy it. Thank you for sharing. Yes, I think the apple juice would make a good sustitute. I'd like to try this myself sometime.-Dennis
Looks good. Will this bread work well in sandwich making with savory ingredients, or is it best enjoyed as you ate it?
Can you make pretzel rolls? They are great for roast beef, swiss cheese, and Bavarian mustard.
I can't wait to see what you make next!

Going to make some sliders for wifey! Making rolls.
Can't wait to try this ..:-)
Nice. Thank you for sharing.
What are the ingredients list?
Thanks so much! This is excellent!
Have you ever made brown bread like the caned stuff
I haven't attempted it yet. King Arthur Flour has a recipe. It requires two hours of steaming; so I might not attempt it until winter. Thanks for the suggestion.
Where do you put the Dough to let it raise????thank you

awesome taste great easy just time consuming
Thanks for sharing!
Is the water warm water?
Just wondering if you could use coconut flour in this recipe also add some flax seed powder to increase the
fiber of the bread
THAT'S deliciousness
This seems very similar to a pizza dough. I have the idea of adding something savory rather than something sweet and seeing how that might work.
That's the prettiest bread I've Ever seen
I would knead it before adding more flour, so flour has time to absorb egg in recipe.
I need to do this I just need to get my juice nice looking out I been baking going crazy thank God for a deep freezer..

Delicious bread, funny subtitles ..
Thanks
Need to know more about bread making
FYI, the Hawaiians didn't create this type of bread, it was Portuguese immigrants that introduced it to Hawaii.
