Lots of hard work but awesome plans and a fun challenge. That massive stump will probably become a bit of a climbing frame if it is stable enough. Cut some steps into it and tidy up the roots. That's a good amount of wood you've already done. Maybe throw some wildflower seed mix around the are as you tidy it up, good for the bees and hopefully keep some weeds away
Great idea on the wildflower mix, would make a good cover crop for the next year while we cleanup all the mess haha. I like that idea on the stump! I could chainsaw off the roots easily enough, it’s pretty firmly in place, not going anywhere haha

Love your idea's, it sure will keep you busy. It's great to have projects and then have that satisfaction of one day kicking back to enjoy all the hard work. You will build a wonderful space for you all. That hot tub would come in useful after those long days of physical labour 😅
Yeh it would haha! Still working on that idea 😉 we are busy subdividing some of the land off so we might treat ourselves to a hot tub once that sells 😁
Makes me feel so much better about the weeds we have in our garden following a few weeks away in the caravan. On a serious note, you mention a culvert and run off. If you do change the contour of any section consider run off and potential water escape onto a neighbouring property. There are lots of articles on the web about legal liability for water escape.
Ah yeh good point! Thanks! The plan for the culvert is basically just to put it back to how it was by clearing all the scrap wood out of the way, thankfully the digger didn’t drive around there much so the contour of the land didn’t really change. Didn’t know there were legal ramifications so thanks for letting us know 😊👍
We've had a dozen Tui absolutely loving our Kowai tree guys and they love the flowers so if you can plant a few that would be cool. Just a suggestion..
Yes! To the bees! Raw honey is delicious and healthy! I pay an obscene amount of money (proportionately) for Manuka honey here. You have a great plan and I can't wait to see it develop. Just got to the zipline part- as a person who is a bit of a zipline addict, I love that idea as well as a the bike track. I thought of building a track behind my house in a power line easement. Cheers
Sorry for the late reply Pete! We are super keen to get some bees and start making some honey, I need to do a bit of research first and see what gear we need etc haha
@@AdventuresWithRosy I had a neighbor who raised bees and got me interested. I ended up buying 5 books on beekeeping! You can also harvest beeswax and propolis. Honey is such an amazing thing. It never spoils. It has so many uses! Good luck and I will be anxious to see your results!
Oh can you bury the scrap wood!? I was thinking it would take ages to break down. We have another huge pile of wood scrap on our bottom paddock and that one has pumpkins growing out of it 😁 hopefully the pumpkins help break things down a bit!

It does pretty good, but mostly with the smaller stuff, the dry pine branches go through it really well 👍 I almost wish we brought a bigger one as there are some branches that are too big for the chipper but too small to chop up with the chainsaw and it just takes so long! Thought we might rent a bigger chipper but no one rents them in Taupō 🤷

How does your Hansa C7 chipper cope with the clearance job?
